    3:27 reminds me of another episode of "Black Sheep Squadron" in which half the episode shows the Japanese officer motivating his pilots with the mythological divine wind story. The way he relates the noble sacrifice theme with their situation makes the nervous pilots take heart. It lets you see how someone could find themselves prepared to make such a strike

    Marine Corporal Rand Henderson died in the famous Banzai charge. His father, Randall Henderson, founder and publisher of Desert Magazine, called up from Army reserves, was stationed in North Africa with the U.S. Army Air Corps, when he received word his only son had died in combat. Henderson then sat down and wrote his son's obituary that appeared in Desert.

    Really good review about a film based on a real life incident also seen this told in other parts and who knows where could do one on Battle of Algiers if you haven't done it yet or this other 1 from the same creator Burn (1969) is another among other topics can do one on MANIPAD Missiles like the SA-7 and Stinger is another and MIG jets can still be good among others even those firebombs used in bombing runs of WWII is also good too. Really is a lot out there.

    • @JohnnyJohnsonHistory

      Sadly, not as deeply as they could have gone. Should have almost been a mini-series or had a few less characters.

    • @ThommyofThenn
      @ThommyofThenn 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JohnnyJohnsonHistory With masterpieces like Band of Brothers, Pacific, Generation Kill and John Adams, it's almost difficult to view the miniseries as anything but the best way to portray a subject, particularly the historic. Of course each of the above had huge budgets that are probably (sorry for not looking it up atm) as large if not larger than "blockbuster" movies, so perhaps the feature length film is a workable 2nd option.
      The box office shows us that 2.5 hours is just about the longest an audience is reasonably willing to sit through; but I can't help but wonder if the rise of streaming previously theatrical releases might pave the way to average movie lengths increasing.
      I almost never watch a movie all the way through on streaming. It's really nice being able to watch it in 45-60 min chunks.
      Anyway this isn't an essay so I'll get to the point, maybe filmmakers/studios will find a new model. Something much longer than a traditional film, but not so long/expensive as an five-eight episode miniseries.
      I'm actually really liking the term "series film" I just thought up! Thanks as always my friend
