I agree! And God bless priests such as this man who speak and teach us the truth! Let us pray for ALL the clergy to be so enlightened by God’s truth and wisdom so they may properly Shepard their own flocks onward to heaven
For me there has been no re-education. After eleven years in Catholic schools (1969-1980), I learned nothing ( unfortunately, whether my fault or not). This has become my primary education. Thank you my LORD for introducing me to Sensus Fidelium. It truly has been a salvation for me. 🙏🏻♥️
@@robcassel1745 sometimes taking the Holy sacrament of confession for granted. And we might just go to confession "assuming" that we will be forgiven. Instead of us going because we truly are penitent and sorrowful for hurting and offending our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And for his pure sake. And for the salvation of our own soul. I pray 🙏 and hope I do not take this spiritual and most Holy sacrament given to us by God and Holy Mother Catholic Church for granted or assume I will automatically be forgiven by just going through the "motions" of going to confession. And that the Lord is always with me in the confessional. As He is, in persona Christi, as the Holy Priest. Amen. +
Solid, convicting, but hopeful information. Although some of this is "tough" it shows the way to peace, love, joy and hope in our Lord's deep desire for us to be with him in Heaven.
Truly these videos are a nourishment to my soul. God bless the priests who make these wonderful homilies and give them more wisdom and fear of the Lord.
Just to clarify. Imperfect contrition is adequate for the forgiveness of grave sin in the Sacrament of Penance whereas Perfect contrition is adequate even without the Sacrament provided the penitent is diligent to make Confession as soon as possible. I think this is what the preacher was saying but initially I thought that he was saying that a person with imperfect contrition was not making a good confession and would not be forgiven until he had made a good confession with perfect contrition.
I cry my eyes out many times I confess and I try to break my past habit and pray daily but still fall periodically. I hope I'm not lying in my "firm purpose of amendment."
This is about a rich guy who didnt really care about anything but himself. So you must understand that you goto confession for Jesus and for yourself. Not just yourself. Jesus wants you in heaven, Sincerity is the point. Not just taking it like a mandatory service. Cause it is not Mandatory for god to save you. He does it for his love of you and for your love of him.
Try to add another one rosary on your current one. I have prayed the entire rosary almost everyday and it help me a lot to know what are reasons why I keep falling on the same sin.
Ask Jesus to come into your heart and help you to stop the same sins because you’re weak doing it yourself but with His help you will overcome that sin(s). Pray the Our Father and Hail Mary before you temp yourself to that sin. Jesus I surrender myself to you, take care of everything. Mother Mary be a mother to me and help me. I’m weak, help me mother Mary. Pray to St. Michael ArchAngel to help battle for you. Pray to St. Joseph terror of demons help you.
Its the message of the priest, not the priest's name that is important. Our Lady of Akita Japan in 1973, the visionary indicated that "Cardinals opposing cardinals, and bishops against other bishops" These priests don't want their names revealed so that their bishop or cardinal will suppress their ability to provide homilies that feed us.
I don't think that's why. The priests are obedient to their bishops and their bishops know they publish homilies. I think it's that to serve the people of their parish they need to remain anonymous lest they be overwhelmed with admirers and swell up with pride at so much attention.
I have not heard this priest speak on Sensus Fidelium for a long time. I so appreciated his wise words of wisdom in our Faith 🙏⬆️🕯️🙏 Is he still with us? Does anyone know. Lord bless Him always. +
A holy priest told me once I'd never hear about the concept of withholding the marital debt from the pulpit, yet Father lists it here along with others one never hears. God bless this priest!

I understand the issue with the man who was confessing, but not changing his actions. I understand why the priest was sinning, too. Because the man came in, confessed his adultery with no intention of not sinning again, and left. The first time, the priest had no way of knowing that the man was still intending to carry on with his sin. But every time after that, the priest knew that the man was not amending his life because every time the man came in, he was confessing the same sin. The problem that exists nowadays is that in churches in cities and other highly populated areas, there is more than one priest, so you don’t get the same one all the time, and with so many parishioners, the priest will have a hard time remembering each person and the sin(s) they are struggling with.
Act of Contrition 7: Father of mercy, like the prodigal son I return to you and say: "I have sinned against you and am no longer worthy to be called your son." Christ Jesus, Savior of the world, I pray with the repentant thief to whom you promised Paradise: "Lord, remember me in your kingdom." Holy Spirit, fountain of love, I call on you with trust: "Purify my heart, and help me to walk as a child of light."r😇🙏🏻us
Recent experience has shown me how people sin through negligence and wilful ignorance. Canon Law allows for penalties to be applied to those who could have reasonably been expected to foresee the effects of their actions. The catechism says that wilful ignorance increases the character of a sin which means a venial sin can become a mortal sin through wilful ignorance. For these reasons I take issue with the notion that if you are not conscious of having committed any mortal sin, then you haven’t. One of the traps inquisitors set for St. Joan of Arc was to ask her if she was in a state of grace because it was understood that we could not have absolute certainty on this point. I do not think the confessor in the story had any consciousness of committing sacrilege. Let me propose an example which could easily apply to any of use. What if you hear gossip about a person and participate in it (look up the 9 ways to participate in another’s sin). Then as a result of the gossip, the one gossiped about stops coming to Mass. Those who participated in this gossip are guilty of the sin of scandal by which others are tempted to sin. How often are we deceived by our pride into thinking we have not sinned, or at least not gravely? “From our secret sins defend us O Lord.” Pray that God does not condemn us for those sins we commit carelessly or in ignorance. Study the faith that we might not be ignorant without excuse.
I think I always had the second type of sorrow. How can I already the perfect contrition? How can I really hate the sin and to love God above all things?
Yes Father, St Alphonsus helped me to discern the cause of my sin. To repeat a sin 3 times in a year means it is habitual. To receive the Sacraments in such a state offends God and piles sins upon us. Yes Father, we must change. Only then after change, fasting & prayer can we be restored. Thank you Father. May we be ready when Christ return.
A Sacrilegious confession leads to a sacrilegious communion. Lord help us in the confessional. If we are truly sorrowful 😔 for our sins, have a contrite heart and a firm purpose of amendment. Disciplining your children with spanking is not a mortal sin. Anger, or Wrath, is declared a mortal sin, but there are certain conditions for the sin to be committed. We should be able to discipline our children with ways in which they will understand our displeasure with them until they reach the age of reason to go to the Sacrament of Penance for themselves and confess their unworthiness. A parent that doesn’t try to train the child in the way he should go is damning him the way the priest of the imperfect contrite penitent is not confronting a man’s serious sins.
If the the person reflected on his conscious, took the time and went their with the intent to confess his sins with the intent to sin no more and with proper sorrow for them he's good! It doesn't matter if the Priest blew some words. Thats form over substance. If the Priest intended to obsolve him why is he not obsolved. Where's Gods Divine Mercy in this scenario.
@@lawrencekeenan9234 you need to look at yourself. Why is THAT your response? Are we beneath you? Are you above us? You seem to have a vice of pride. Shame on you!
A priest should reserve the right to refrain from absolving a penitent from sin if he understands that the contrition is not genuine. St Padre Pio was said to turn penitents away from the confessional because he saw the ill intention behind the penitent being not genuine in his seeking forgiveness. Not every priest has this grace or else few people would likely make such confessions and even less would receive the Eucharist, we don’t look at the form over substance either. The substance brought into the confessional is our sins that we know have offended God and need to be reconciled. Our free will determines how we begin to amend the ways we have fallen out of favor with God. A convert from a Protestant Faith has to sort through many thoughts and ideas that have been thrown around when they consider becoming Catholic, for example. I don’t know about the other religions or even the agnostic/atheist bent as well as I should, but the struggle to be contrite hits them as hard or more so based on experience.
There is much goodness in holiness and the devotion of Catholism - initially I praised the words of this priest, particularly where Christ Jesus forgives our sins. Yet, I state, the Catholic Church is NOT and CANNOT be God although it can signpost the way, nothing is impossible for God and despite DELEGATED 'authority' - Jesus said, a good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Corruption must be outed alongside ignorance and precedence of dogma over God's Word, Fruits and Ultimately Love and Grace. Jesus would not conform to man's authority as God - He spoke and obeyed the Father with our Comforter.

I really really REALLY want to know the name of the Parish that you go to... And if it is a fssp, sspx or what not.
This is Rev. John T. Sweeney

@ It is NOT
Does the priest have to speak in Latin to absolve sin. Saying “ Ego te absolvo “
He might say it before he replies “ I absolve you of your sins “. If you go to confession regularly than you will find out quicker 😉
No the language is not important.
