Not me standing here in Mexican 🇲🇽. Our weddings, baby showers etc are pretty large so thank you notes are not done. Having said that you have to say thank you to anyone you see who attended if you see them within 5 business years 🤣🤣
Filipinos too. 🇵🇭You get to take extra food home to eat, favors and whatever decor flowers /balloons at the party 😂 and the host will thank you a billion times when they leave the party and ask if they can take more food home with them😂
Here in the Philippines, “thank you” notes per person are not necessary. They just post their wedding photos on facebook (our solo and group photos included) and just thanked everyone who came. For me, that’s fine 😂
I feel the same way about bringing an S.O. to places and events. The only time I would be upset that my bf isn’t invited is if everyone else’s bf is invited.
Loved the 10th Kingdom shoutout! Brought me back. My friend thought she fully hallucinated this show for like a solid 10 years before we were like, no that was a real show! Apparently her dad told her she made it up!
This might be unpopular but I don’t want a thank you card, ever, for anything lol. I don’t want something I’m just going to throw away and I know you appreciate the gift. I give the gift with zero expectations and often say please don’t send me a thank you lol
Please I pay so much for so much everywhere else! I’d like to enjoy some free content on the usual day I come to watch this podcast! Please everything monetized is insane!
Also came to say I LOVED the 10th kingdom!! My husband and I found it on prime and he watched for the first time with me during lockdown. ❤️ now he gestures that he’s rowing a boat every time he hears the BeeGees 😂
They also mostly don't have tap to pay, and also at restaurants they generally bring you 1 bill and expect everybody to sort it out amongst themselves. I was so surprised to learn all the ways they're behind in terms of financial transactions.
@@simonsaysism yea i dont understand why they cant split bills. I also dont like how they take your credit card away when you pay like why cant you pay at your table
I think a lot of this is down to culture because I’ve never sent a thank you note, and I’ve never received one in turn for any holiday, wedding, and various shower gifts + if we aren’t fighting over the bill it’s also considered rude lol
I'm not from the Midwest, but my mom instilled in my from a very young age to always send a thank you note! To also be specific about what I'm thanking them for and not just a general thank you, lol!
Omg! I can't believe Becky has seen the 10th kingdom!! I watched it every weekend as a kid. My grandma bought it on vhs thinking it was some religious something or other, it was on 6 vhs tapes! And as a poor kid with no cable in the boonies, I loved it sooo much. I got it on dvd when I was about 25. It is streaming on the roku channel I believe. I rewatched it last year when I had the covid, and there were scenes that were not on the vhs edition. Considering it was almost 8 hrs on vhs, I'm surprised that there was another 2 hrs in the full made for tv edition. This has clearly unlocked a core memory for me lol
I feel the complete opposite way about venmo. I still use it because some people do, but we are grown and we are not trying to wait for our money or pay fees. Zelle is the move
I got a lot of money accidentally sent to my bank account a few years back. I immediately notified the bank because I knew someone had sent it to my account in error. It was COVID times, and people were being allowed to withdraw a large portion of their pensions in advance to help with finances cause no one could work, so I knew that was someone's pension money.
why does Devin have the same dad as I do LOL... Parents are 11 years apart and he is 73.. when he graduated uni he went to the Navy(Canadian) he travelled the world, has a bunch of crazy stories and was also a salesman
It feels weird to hear that thank you card is an etiquette must in the US because in my country its not really heard of 🤣 plus wedding guests can sometimes go into the thousand since we practically invite everyone we know; old school friends, coworkers and neighbors included from both sides of the family, i cant imagine writing thank you notes for that many people 😅
I'm in the US (from the Midwest even) but my family and people I knew never did thank you cards for anything. But we were poor and I feel like it was always the "expected" etiquette in middle class or richer families.
8:00 just reminding y'all, sometimes ♿️ folks need their partners with them bc they're their primary caretakers. Most of the time, if we have an issue & need to leave the function early, we don't want you to be impacted by it or have to be "burdened" by getting us home. YES, alternative sitches can be arranged around, but health is unpredictable most of the time. This attitude is literally why so many of us ♿️ folks don't have friends that "tolerate" our health conditions. We know it sucks--we live with it on a daily basis. Really wishing Maggie was on this episode. Normally she's pretty insightful for this kind of stuff, especially having a ♿️ partner & her background.
That's true, but there should be communication ahead of time, even if it's just a "hey guys, my partner may need to come with me last minute sometimes. I'll do my best to shoot you a text when I need them with me." In some situations, a partner could also be nearby but not directly involved in the "outing." It's not unusual for me and my mom to do it that way 🙂
I have 12 piercings. I’d say the industrial is the worst since it’s 2 piercings and takes a year to heal. Lobes and cartilage were easy. Daith gets infected easy. Conch not too bad.
1. I agree with Matt on the ghosting thing, if you get to the point of a real in person date, don’t ghost. Doesn’t need to be a whole thing but like just nice to get the official close out. Of course I hated ghosting when I was dating so 🤷♀️ 2. Thank you’s while nice are unnecessary to me. I always felt like if someone expected a thank you note (to the point where they got petty about it) they didn’t give the gift out of kindness but to get kudos for doing it. 3. I agree with Devin! I hate the word 🐱it just makes me feel icky and something about it feels like violent no matter who uses it or why. I don’t mind the C word though, I think that one’s fun and has a different vibe.
Late comment here: for the husband that doesn’t pick up, treat him like you do with multiple cats: many litter boxes = many hampers. So there’s no excuse, put the hampers where it’s convenient to him when he’s changing!!
I’m big on if I wasn’t invited then I wouldn’t go but my fiancé’s family and friends tell me all the time that we are one so if one is invited then so it the other
Huh? Never thought they looked alike till this video! They def look they could be related at the very least. Edit: The piercing chat made me cringe so much 🥲 I have so many right now and I couldn't imagine doing any of that stuff to any piercing at any time. Hands down, nipples are the worst I've gotten done. But only really one hurt and they BURN afterwards. I don't think the burning sensation went away for a few hours.
Don’t get your ears pierced at Claire’s 😅. They use a piercing gun and you can’t sterilize those so that’s probably why infections are common from there. Go to a piercing shop and get it done by a professional. You need to use a hollow sterilized needle and the right earring.
I always thought Devin (sp?) looks like she could be Becky's sister, and then hearing that she's also from the mid-west - it's too much of a coincident!
I am a midwestern girl too and you have to do specific thank you if you want another gift from me in life. I hate cursing and frankly far more effective if you only do it once in a while. If you do eyes get wide & they stop and really listen to you.
I have six holes in each of my ears and my daith was by far the worse. My cartilage is thick, been told by multiple piercers but it was by far the worst
Y’all I’m getting major PTSD from this episode… I asked my two besties, C + H, to go out to dinner to celebrate C’s bday & then C asked if she could bring her husband… super lame AND THEN when the bill came, H offered to cover C & her husband, so we ended up having to PAY FOR HER HUSBAND’S MEAL AS WELL. Girl time is sacred & if you don’t get that, I don’t wanna be there anymore lol

Well ladies, it’s Tuesday. That means it’s time for ‘You Can Sit With Us’ and fold laundry with a glass of wine
And gays!

I didn't even know half the guests at my Singaporean wedding 😅they RSVPed by word of mouth too so I don't even know how I would thank them
I follow an etiquette idea that you rebuff someone's offer twice and if they still insist you let them pay, do the task, or whatever the situation is.
I hate when older relatives refuse to let you pay them back for something 😭 like let me give you gas money

Omg Becky mentioning 10th kingdom. That felt like such a fever dream 😅 sometime all i can remember from there it a talking pearl ring😂😂😂
Would it be crazy to ask that YCSWU and guilty pleasures be added to the 2nd try app? It’s nice to have everything in one place
Zach said if there's enough of a demand YCSWU will be on 2nd Try TV. I don't remember if he said that about Guilty Pleasure too.
I need the unfiltered version asap
Yes please!
Yes as in I would like it too, not that it's crazy lol

I got my little nephew a real cordless stick vacuum for Christmas one year, it was his favorite toy (and useful 😁)
It blows my mind that there’s no e-transfer in the states
Wait, really? Thanks for educating me!

Devin and Becky is like sister from another mothers!

Same, and I'm even from the American Midwest lol. I occasionally get them from "well-to-do" or older acquaintances tho.
I haven’t thought about Family Matters and Urkle is long. Just found it on Hulu! Let the binge begin.
Bad gifts I’ve been given: maternity clothes while struggling with infertility

Uh oh! What did Keith do to get uninvited? 😂
Ok I think they've been more entertaining and have better conversations when they have guests
I agree but i guess, the topic they chose today is very ‘conversational’ than the others. They should pick this kind of topic next time.
Straight man checking in 😬

The 10th Kingdom is a must see!!
We didn’t send wedding thank yous to anyone but the grandparents, since they’re the only ones who really cared. And we’re from the Midwest 😅
Same
Thanks again Girlies!
I loved the 10th Kingdom! I would rent it all the time at Blockbuster.

Wow, I have way more in common with Devin than I expected.
For my bridal shower on the invite we said in lieu of thank you cards we would be making a donation to breast cancer.
Keith and Zach would love to hang out with Devin’s dad 😂
