Love grappling dummies, I use super light ones for submissions o the ground for beginners all the time. Personally love throwing dummies for reps. Good vid
A brilliant bit of kit if you use it! I work on my own so take it with me to work! The other day I did 50 tai Otoshi's and about 20 arm bars and 20 strangles!! I filled mine with sawdust put into plastic bags wrapped in gaffer tape. Works brilliantly!
Not so good for throwing or heavy take downs, The red one is better for those. Submission dummy's are mostly used for drilling and stuff. But the one i have, has a wooden framework from what i can tell, so it would not take the heavy take down and throws too well i reckon.
Well said and great points on the matter brother. I've always heard the same comments from people who don't have one. I've had mine almost 20 yrs. Those same people back in the day that talked like that in Gracie jj/MMA hated it when I'd be off for injury and come back yet always improving. People are interesting ha Pre Internet ha I'd buy the best knowledge on vhs and master techniques at home. I'd spend most of my time helping the people in class grow that were not as knowledge able and that were being tapped by those ego guys with no mercy (the young or out of shape or old ect..). Then I'd tap those ego guys up at the end. Those same guys threw tantrums when they got tapped. Dummy don't hit or submit you back ha my dummies were what helped me grow allot. I was off for a mnth once and come back caught this ego guy in a triangle and he literally looked at my instructor and threw a tantrum saying he should be better than me. I was like woe haha. People asked how I was getting so good so fast and I'd say my grappling dummy. Funny how that was one of those guys saying dummies are useless. I'm glad I came across your vid. Sorry for the rant/memory but I always remember those guys. They (ignorant people) always have motivate me and I love my dummies. - Blessings2u and yours my brother
Good video with great advice. Thanks😎

Hi, and thank you. :)
Hey Ian. Thanks for the vid. Can you tell me the make/model of the dummy on the left? Cheers
Hi, my one is from: www.spartanequip.com/grappling-dummies/maximus1/
Thanks for the response. Is that one any good for takedowns and throwing?

Nice video. We have a dummy at my gym, but I never see anyone use it. I hope you add a short vid of demonstration with the dummy.
+Nepthu Yes, I probably will add a few in the future.

That makes no sense. Got anything constructive to say?
+Ian Sinclair already have said
+yotoober1 I dress the dummies up to keep them cleaner for longer and to use techniques for throwing and grappling in general.
they were just saying the dummies were like spitting images of you with the clothes on, idk tbh.
