Yamaha Raider 1900 Hits the Dyno

  • We finally dyno tune a Yamaha, and it's not a sport bike.... It's a 2009 Yamaha Raider 1900. The gains this thing made was very impressive. Especially considering we tuned it through a Power Commander 5 and not the ECU like we normally do.

    My 2008 Raider ran the Metzler and was only good for 3000 miles.
    It was change the oil change the tire. Tried running a 240 tire but only raised the rear of the bike because the tire couldn't fully extend outward. Finally went to a 200 mm tire for half the price of Metzler and usually got around 10000 miles.

    Ivan's would pick up prob 5hp and little torque since he can get into timing tables....be worth the $375 for extra smoothness overall...

    He needs to do Ivan’s ecu flash on that raider.

      Yeah... We talked about different options for him. He's wanting to turbo it in the future, so he was looking for maximizing his current setup until then.

      He's throwing out good numbers the best Ivan's claims is 100hp 120tq and that's running open air k&n with the 2into1 V&H supposedly the raider engine prefers the 2into1 exhaust because I have the cobra dragster pipes and he told me it would be roughly 5hp less

    I'm looking to put a 1900 in a custom rigid chopper frame. Will the Power Commander 5 run the engine free of the factory harness? Is it just for the fuel mapping and not the ignition?

    • @TEAMWRIGHTEOUS
      @TEAMWRIGHTEOUS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It won't. The Power commander only intercepts the fuel signal and alters it. You'll still need the complete factory harness, and ecu plus controls and safety switches to make the engine run.

      @@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS thanks that's not the answer I like but the one I was looking for. I've searched high and low but couldn't find any stripped down custom's with the xv 1900 engine. I figured this is why. The factory harness is ginormous, there's no stand alone setup and there's no way to run it on a carburetor. So much wasted potential for full non factory custom building. Great video and thank you.

    I’ve got a raider and a cobra tuner and pipes broke 100 hp however it’s a gas hog . I was jw what tier he was running i keep melting mine off and at 300 bucks a pop . What size was it ??

    • @TEAMWRIGHTEOUS
      @TEAMWRIGHTEOUS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couldn't tell you what size it was. I know it's a car tire. And it's heavy so it robs power on the dyno. That and every dyno reads differently... So it's not an equal comparison either way.
      There's probably forums or Facebook pages for these bikes and I bet there's discussion about "dark side" riding with car tires. They generally get 20-30,000 miles out of them.

    • @TEAMWRIGHTEOUS
      @TEAMWRIGHTEOUS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, most definitely. That's a much heavier tire vs a motorcycle tire... But it's also less sticky vs a motorcycle tire. So it won't lose power like a Shinko hookup does on the dyno.
