I love how Nolan isn’t tied down to a specific genre or style. He can spend two decades making some of the best action sequences in cinematic history and then suddenly make a movie comprised almost entirely of people talking in rooms just because he feels like it.
Well, he does have an identifiable style. He loves realism and non-linear storytelling. And there are many genres he has yet to dive into. I think the most versatile popular director is Steven Spielberg: Duel, Jaws, Close Encounters, Indiana Jones, ET, The Color Purple, Hook, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Minority Report, etc...
@@jp3813this is another version of Schaff's argument that favorite and best can be two different things. Spielberg is easily the most successful director of his generation, but Nolan is somewhere in my shirt just of favorites. Denis Villeneuve quickly climbed into that tier with Arrival, Blade Runner and Dune. James Cameron and Ron Howard are probably somewhere on that list also. And then there's a whole pile that I greatly respect even when they're not Favorite-favorites: Scorsese, Cuaron, Paul THOMAS (not W.S.) Anderson, Fincher, del Toro, Hitchcock, Antoine Fuqua, guys like that.
He's run a pretty large gamut over a rather small collection of films. He's done a detective story (two if you count Memento), superhero movies (which also kind of cross styles), sci Fi, space opera, a war movie, a spy movie, an historical drama, and whatever you call The Prestige, a mystery thriller, I guess.
@@TheSchaef47 Everyone has their favorites and opinion of who's the best. But I was referring to versatility. For example, I've yet to see Nolan make a movie for kids. Or perhaps a musical. Though he has plenty of time to explore.
If Schaffrillas doesn’t use the Tim Curry “I’m going to the ONE place that hasn’t been corrupted by capitalism… SPACE!” line for Interstellar’s placement, I will be quite disappointed. EDIT: I am quite disappointed
My sister still gives me shit for crying at The Dark Knight Rises' ending. I was 9 at the time. Imagine showing a 9 year old Batman, a hero they like, fucking dying.

Honestly, the fact that Nolan’s worst works can still be considered like 6/10 is a testament to how great of a filmmaker he is. Even when he misses, he doesn’t really miss.
A truly great filmmaker can take even the weakest and most underwhelming script imaginable and turn into something that's impressive from a technical perspective and mostly quite fun to watch
Petition for Schaff to rank all of Guillermo Del Toro's movies, to me he's one of those directors that when I hear he's directing I'm immediately excited for the movie.
Sam Raimi would be another interesting one given the variation in different genres and quality across his movies but also the fact they all share his unique style in some way or another.
What do you guys think of John David Washington? I think he’s a good actor, but he’s missing the gravitas and charm that his father effortlessly conveys.
this is literally the worst nolan ranking ever 💀 how is tenet last, inception 6th, insomnia that high and interstellar not in top 3. also why the fuck is memento 3rd and theres no way he thinks insomnia and following is better than dunkirk or the dark knight rises. all these placements are unforgivable my ranking (From worst to best): Insomnia Following Memento Dunkirk Batman Begins The Prestige TDKR Oppenheimer Tenet Interstellar TDK Inception
@@revilo1340I’m really curious on your reasoning for liking tenet. I do agree that he does have some wack rankings sometimes, but I feel like he’s explanation of tenet and why it’s bad sums it up nicely.
Nolan has 3 movies within my top 10. Interstellar Inception The Dark Knight He’s a legend and I hope he continues to make incredible movies. When your worst movie is Tenet (which is fine)… you know you’re a boss.
"Come on Nolan, you made Oppenheimer 11 years after this, you should know this" HAha I get it it's a non linear time joke. I'm fully expecting to see a youtube video come out from some random youtuber next detailing all the non linear time jokes in Schaffrillas Nolan video
The thing about The Prestige is that the first watch will blow you away when you learn the twist, but the second watch will blow you away *because* you know the twist. There's so much packed into that film that you find something new every time you watch it, but for the first watch you don't actually need to pick up on any of it to enjoy the story and that's the craziest part to me.
"Swear to me" has to be simultaneously one of the funniest yet hardest moments I've ever seen in a superhero movie because of Christian Bale's delivery
I'm happy we got Robert Patinson as Bruce Wayne in the new film. The guy really shifted how people saw him as an actor after Twilight. He's great as a loner, still-immature Batman that's learning to improve as a hero.
The first time I saw Interstellar was (unfortunately) not in a theater, but on a 4K disc at home. I wasn't able to get the full cinema experience, but I did have a cheap 5.1 surround system and the audio on that disc blew me away. I could put my hand in front of one of the rear speakers and that thing felt like an air conditioner with how much sound it had pumping through it. My dad came home from work while I was watching it, and came up to my room to see what all the noise was. He ended up getting so engrossed in the movie that he just stood there in the doorway and watched the last 45 mins or so with me, without having seen the rest of it. It's truly a great film and I gotta give it another watch soon.
That part of Interstellar where Coop screams "Murph! Don't let me build my website without using today's sponsor, Square space, by using the link in the description to get an additional 10% discount!", it was so emotional that it made me ugly cry.
I am Inceptions number 1 fan and that's a FACT, I watched it 7 times in one day and have watched it over 1000 times since it's release, I have a spinning totum tattoo on my face. I can tell you that sentance you said was not in the movie.
About the Inception ending, it turns out that in an interview a while back, Michael Caine stated that during the production, Nolan told him that any scene his character is in is in reality and not a dream. And since Caine’s character is there at the very end bringing Cobb to his kids, the ending was in fact a reality. THE MORE YOU KNOW🌈🌟
Can’t find a source for this but I remember hearing something about the director of photography for Batman Begins having him take his glasses off for a lot of scenes as to not obstruct his big blue beautiful man eyes.
@@one-onessadhalf3393 Wonder where he would rank High School Musical (the classics), Lemonade Mouth (kidz bop Breakfast Club), Descendants (Ever After High called, they want their thesis back), and ZOMBIES (Perhaps I treated that one Pixar movie harshly. I find it funny that an animator in a nearly billion dollar Spider Man movie is this excited about being featured in a TH-cam video made by a talking Coconut Crab
I remember watching memento for the first time w/ a big group of friends, a lot of them wanted a horror movie but someone suggested this and the majority won. All the reveals and twists were so good, there were gasps and theories popping in left and right every fade out but we're all immediately shushed when the movie came back; the ending left us more shaken than any horror movie we could've picked, watching memento for the first time is truly an experience.
Here's a Hot take for you: I like watching Schaffrillas talk about stuff he enjoys more than yelling at fictional characters to shoot people with a dehydration gun.
Both can be cool. Seeing a moment of supreme rage from him is always hilarious, but it's nice to just see him make a video he really wants to make sometimes.
It's also wild how Oppenheimer kinda had a direct sequel later that year, focusing more on the Japanese perspective on the ramifications of the bomb ending World War 2, and that the chain reaction that'd destroy the entire world.... ended up being a giant radioactive dinosaur.
If you wanna do another Japanese double feature with Oppenheimer then watch Grave of the Fireflies right after, will definitely fill you with a hopeful spirit and a positive outlook on humanity and war!
About the use of survailance technology in The Dark Knight, that was acknowledged as a bad thing (Lucius verbally threatened Batman saying if that exists, he's out) and Batman himself understands how bad it is, hence why he lets Lucius destroy it by the end. The reason as to why Batman used it in the first place is foreshadowed in the movie too. Alfred tells a story about a man who simply wanted to see the world burn (much like the Joker) and when Bruce asks how they got him, he says "we burned the whole forest down". Burning an entire forest to catch a single man is insanity, but the point is: when facing individuals who can't be reasoned with or threatened, one may resort to insane methods. The suvailance technology is Batman's forest burning down. It's not right, it's not legal, it's not ethical but it's an effective means to an end to catch Joker and save the two boats. I think the use of that was very clever, actually.
If I had a nickel for every time Phillip Phillips was in a Schafrillas video, I’d have one nickel. Please do it again so I can make the 2 nickels joke.
I know they were probably setting him up to be the main villain of Tron 3 (who doesn’t wanna see that? :p) but even back then I thought it was so disrespectful to not credit him lol.
Ok so the reason The Dark Knight Rises feels so underwhelming is because originally Joker was going to have a massive role in it. Obviously after Heath Ledger’s death that plan was scrapped. Nolan had pretty much no passion for making a third film but was forced by the studio
Is there any meaningful proof of such claims? Information of the time was that there was no third movie seriously planned, and ending of Dark Knight rather reinforces that when compared with B.Begins with obvious Joker cliffhanger.
@@ReichLife Yeah, it was my understanding WB kinda strong-armed Nolan into making Rises via his contract and so he kinda rushed Rises out hence it not being up to snuff with his other works. Tenet has no such excuse.
@@CouchSpud91 Same feeling here. While Ledger death more or less impacted Nolan's approach towards third movie, overall picture showcases there never actual desire to make one, with only contract and/or promises for funding of other projects which were to follow TDKR actually made Nolan direct third movie. And yeah, while I consider Nolan to be easily one of the best directors of our times, he is hardly perfect. Didn't even bother with Tenet since it didn't sound appealing to me, all while Dunkirk or Oppenheimer while great movies, painfully suffer from Nolan's stubborn obsession of avoiding CGI.
@@ReichLife Sadly I'm right with Schaff in that I don't like war movies so Dunkirk is a skip for me as well, but I love all of his other works (I even enjoy Rises despite its faults) and really need to see Oppenheimer sometime.
This video began with us having many similar takes (except with flipped opinions on rises vs begins) but the ending diverged quite a lot. Here's my list: 1. The Prestige 2. Interstellar 3. Oppenheimer 4. The Dark Knight 5. Memento 6. Inception 7. The Dark Knight Rises 8. Insomnia 9. Following 10. Tenet 11. Batman Begins 12. Dunkirk You mentioned in your video that you'd only seen The Prestige the one time for when you made this video, and i swear to you - you absolutely must watch it again. Every single time i watch it again i just get sooo blown away, its incredible. The best part is watching it with new people who havent seen it before, and talking about it afterwards. I will die on the hill that The Prestige is Nolan's best film, its just SO good and expertly crafted and i eat it up every time
I originally watched Memento because it was one of the required films for an Intro to Film class I was taking. I hadn’t heard anything about the film before watching outside of the events being in reverse chronological order. Just from my first viewing it immediately became one of my all time favorite films. It is so rare to have a story where everything just works together to make an unforgettable masterpiece.
All valid film criticism aside, the bomb in the dark knight rises would not cause a deadly amount of radiation to the city for two big reasons, 1- it’s said to be a 1megaton nuke and anything over 700 kilotons blasts most of the radiation into the upper atmosphere 2-It’s a fusion based bomb which hypothetically would have less than percent of the radiation caused by a fisson bomb aka every nuclear bomb in real life
Yep. I remember that one scene where Batman responds with 'No, I came back to stop you.' to Bane when he confronts him at the climax. That was such a missed opportunity to dive deeper. That and how it took place in BROAD FUCKING daylight. He felt so out of place that it made him look less intimidating. It's so disappointing that moment in the movie was poorly handled.
Background music list: 12. Freedom and Security, Persona 5 11. Mementos, Persona 5 10. ? 9. ? 8. Freedom and Security, Persona 5 7. Lava Caves, Metroid: Samus Returns 6. Life Will Change (Instrumental), Persona 5 5. Troupe Gramarye, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney 4. Space Junk Galaxy/Stardust Road, Super Mario Galaxy 3. Hyrule Castle Tower, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess 2. Klavier Gavin ~ Guilty Love, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice 1. The Fog, Persona 4
Finally watched Memento last year and can't recommend it enough. It's one of those movies where the confusing plot structure is legit justified and actually makes sense for the movie. The movie playing in reverse order does such a good job at putting us in Leonard's shoes and helps us understand his short term memory loss. We're forced to experience his condition every time a new scene begins, because we have no idea what happened just happened before.
Honestly it was waaaaayyyy darker than I thought it would be. I'm not sure how soon I'll rewatch it just because I found the ending to be such a dark corner of human consciousness.
Scarecrow’s criminal trials in Dark Knight Rises are honestly such a treat. Saying Bane doesn’t have any power to overturn any proceedings, and even Bane just knitting while he listens are such fun touches.
Memento is better than Tenet It should be the other way round, a movie with time reverals should be better than a movie where the story is just told in reverse But no, Nolan just had to mess it up. Memento should maybe have given him some exercise in how to make a reverse movie but he still fumbled with Tenet so hard. The fact that Memento is better than Tenet but people also talk about Tenet more.
20:33 Arkham Asylum has the best Scarecrow encounters, the best atmosphere out of all the games, and the most focused story since it's more linear. While Arkham City is better overall, your issue has more to do w/ the order that you played the games.
My favorite thing about the ending of Inception is that it doesn't matter whether the top fell over or not (which it did). What matters is that Cobb no longer cares about whether or not it's reality and just goes to see his kids.
Interstellar is probably my favorite Sci-fi movie of all time. Especially since Nolan had an actual scientist on board to make it realistic. He even had him create the most realistic image of a black hole at the time.
I know a lot of people dislike it, but the dark knight rises is one my favourite batman movies and probably my favourite of the trilogy. I love Bane, genuinely one of the most unique versions of him, and I absolutely just can't stop quoting him. The message Batman learns to strive at your lowest. The genuine threat I felt seeing Gotham reduce to chaos. Yes it's flawed, but that made it memorable for me But that's my stupid opinion, you all can chastise me now;)
Agreed, and it has so many good emotional beats. The prison scene is amazing and the ending with Alfred is so emotionally charged it may be one of the best endings ever.
I agree. I don’t like it more than The Dark Knight but I like it much more than Batman Begins. I just rewatched them all a couple days ago and, yeah, it’s messy, convoluted, and kinda dumb… but I love it! I disagree with James in that I think it is pretty damn well paced and keeps me gripped. I also like the scale and the stakes to the story, despite the bomb being dumb.
I agree, whilst the Dark Night is good, I didn’t feel super intimidated by the joker as his motive of chaos…wasn’t that interesting. Bane’s philosophy is far more interesting
I remember this guy from Markiplier playing a fangame where he interacted with a hole in the ground saying, "Christopher Nolan must've dug this hole because its deep"
I remember in media class I was asked to grab a movie and make a trailer but with a different genre. I transformed the Dark Knight trilogy from the action movie to a horror movie... The teacher didn't like it because it was "too close to the original genre"
Bane is a hired gun, basically does the same thing in the movie except stick around for the nuke since he doesn’t have a death wish. Batman picks up on this with his mannerisms, his words, as well as subtle things like having the intelligence to pull it of but not the information or motivation to do so. He figures out it’s Talia before her plan works, having Catwoman steal the key or something. There’s a twist villain as well as a subversion of it, connecting the first movie with Ras comments about family and how a older Batman is smarter and stronger. He subdues Bane before he can get away, and basically can clown on Talia by laying out her entire plan out to her and at the end tells her she’s already lost. Why would he relieve the entire plan if it wasn’t already stopped?
The PNG of Nolan's head on trail is peak comedy. I'm so glad Nolan finally got the oscar he deserves. I love his style and the way he plays with time. And Dark Knight, inception, and Oppenheimer are such incredible films.
You can find other ways to learn about cinema, specially with your own experience. Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Charlie Chaplin or Myiazaki also never did.
I am 17 and consider myself to be a studying film student not because I am in film school (though I plan to) but because I watch masterful films like Nolan’s and take notes from them
Batman Begins is unironically my favorite of the Dark Knight Trilogy because of how adorable and silly everyone can be, it reminds me a bit of the 90s Animated Series and the cartoon Justice League with Kevin Conroy (RIP)
I remember seeing Interstellar for the first time in a theater. After the ending I was feeling totally fine but as soon as I got in the car with my parents, I started ugly crying. Like I could not stop crying for at least half an hour, it got me so bad emotionally.
7:15 Schaff I really appreciate this part because as one of the few people who loves TDKR, I know it's got problems, but it's nice to be able to look past them and enjoy something regardless. It's even nicer for someone to say, "yeah you can like this thing, even if I don't like it, I'm not gonna make fun of you for liking it."
The Dark Knight Rises at least gives Batman a fitting ending. There isn't a lot of stories where Batman actually reformed Gotham for the better and passed on the mantle. DKR will be special for that
Years later it indeed becomes apparent how good TDKR ending is. Mere comparison with other biggest batman series showcases that, when in Animated he turned out into old hermit with his crusade being basically meaningless, or Arkham games where ending was quite bitter sweet. Or comics with never ending story. Nolan conclusion indeed looks great.
I am a huge fan of TDKR, and knew going into this video, “My favorite TH-camr is either going to make me really pleasantly surprised or very sad.” It didn’t take long to find out which one
Entirely unrelated but to that editor who played Xenogears music u a real one I like how everyone's favorite Nolan film tends to be different, as mine was Interstellar
14:20 you latched on immediately to the fact that Mark Rylance is the beating heart of most films he's in. You might like War for the Planet of the Apes as an example of a war movie, also. They largely forego large scale battles and focus on Caesar leading a small squad of soldiers on a mission that turns into a prison break, and there's a strong personal dynamic between him and the human Colonel.
One of the things I will always respect about Christopher Nolan is always making everything as real as possible with little to none cgi, he even said in an interview that one of the reasons why he mostly uses practical effects rather than cgi is because it was more fun that way and watching some behind the scenes on how certain things were created made me respect him even more on how impressive he could do it as practical as possible.
He still uses tons of cgi. Basically Every movie marketed as "no cgi" does. They might use physical props, too, and those are definitely very useful, but no cgi basically just means invisible cgi
@@ReichLife Oppenheimer was just as good as it would have been with CGI. Maybe Dunkirk would have needed it but it still is a beautiful film. My opinion: only Nolan movie with a dire need of CGI was Tenet.
@@cobiepal Nah, Trinity Test was horrible in Oppenheimer, or at least explosion itself. Wonderful built up, completely ruined by ludicrously underwhelming explosion. Compare it with Indiana Jones 4, Godzilla Minus One, etc. Those were nuclear detonations. In Oppenheimer? It blatantly looked like classic Hollywood fuel barrels going off hundred meters away rather than a nuke few kilometers away. Same problem with Dunkirk, where great and tense atmosphere is severely when you you think for a second and realize how desolate said supposed massive evacutation is. Again, compare with others movie, like Atonement which also featured Dunkirk event and there scale was far more on point. Or Stukas. Sound and tension wise they are perfect in Nolan movie. But then you blatantly see those are blatantly 1/10 the size of actual thing when contrasted with environment around them. This is what so bizarre about Nolan obsession. People dislike CGI when it clearly puts you out of experience. Nolan obsession about doing practicals is doing literally the same thing.

Others that would be great to do are David Fincher, Denis Villenueve, Tim Burton, and Quentin Tarantino (though I’d wait until his final film comes out). He mentioned M. Personally, I would like to see him rank the Zack Snyder films. Knowing that he talked about generally bad animation studios in the past, I think it would be fair if he talked about generally bad directors as well
9:05 In fairness it is stated by Dr Pavel that it's a neutron bomb where the radius is only 6 miles, neutron bombs radiation is far more concentrated at the center and the speed required to get that distance clear of the city in the time left before detonation (roughly a minute) is plausible.
The final line of dialogue in Oppenheimer might be the greatest ever in a movie, it's like the whole movie is just setup to maximize the impact of that one short sentence.
The way I view tenet is that it’s a character study using a convoluted Christopher Nolan plot. Most movies are centred around knowing a character or getting invested. Having the main character be called “Protagonist” does the exact opposite. And for me, I was still hooked with the plot and the action scenes were enough to keep me locked in.
Tenet's the only movie that I've watched in theaters, and during covid as well. I get that many people dislike it for many reasons, but I feel like people go into the movie already having made up their mind or just get caught up on "it's confusing I give up".
Everytime you rewatch, it's a fun exercise to try to figure out (SPOILERS) which Bale is which in each scene.
the problem is there's too many twists. _The Illusionist_ is a much better magic film from the same year even
@@apecentury228 Nah. The Illusionist is the cheap knockoff (though still a decent film for sure). Nolan's film is just much more masterfully crafted.

I'm happy we got Robert Patinson as Bruce Wayne in the new film. The guy really shifted how people saw him as an actor after Twilight. He's great as a loner, still-immature Batman that's learning to improve as a hero.

Thank you so much for this dude!!
Exactly, I don't know how he missed that. Also, I think a self-destruct was built into it, hence why Lucius smiled.
If I had a nickel for every time Phillip Phillips was in a Schafrillas video, I’d have one nickel. Please do it again so I can make the 2 nickels joke.

It is so rare to have a story where everything just works together to make an unforgettable masterpiece.
All valid film criticism aside, the bomb in the dark knight rises would not cause a deadly amount of radiation to the city for two big reasons,
1- it’s said to be a 1megaton nuke and anything over 700 kilotons blasts most of the radiation into the upper atmosphere
2-It’s a fusion based bomb which hypothetically would have less than percent of the radiation caused by a fisson bomb aka every nuclear bomb in real life

Bro is Joe Biden too old to bee president?
Only the color scenes are in reverse order.
Honestly it was waaaaayyyy darker than I thought it would be. I'm not sure how soon I'll rewatch it just because I found the ending to be such a dark corner of human consciousness.
I cannot stress enough that this is NOT just a fun gimmick like it sounds, it is 100% necessary for the flow of the plot and works perfectly.
It is also a better movie than Tenet
Scarecrow’s criminal trials in Dark Knight Rises are honestly such a treat. Saying Bane doesn’t have any power to overturn any proceedings, and even Bane just knitting while he listens are such fun touches.
I was just happy to see Crane again. He's sadly somewhat underutilized in the trilogy and gets overshadowed in his own movie by Ra's.
People need to talk about Memento more, definitely one of the most gripping examples of how a story can be revealed, not just told
One of the only perfect movies imo
Prior to this video, I had no idea it was a Christopher Nolan movie.
Bro the reveal was mind blowing 🤯
Memento is better than Tenet
It should be the other way round, a movie with time reverals should be better than a movie where the story is just told in reverse
But no, Nolan just had to mess it up.

When Batman says "Officer Balls" and Joker laughs...man what a reveal
Why did the Choker laugh? Is he immature?
Why did man reveal himself? Is he a pervert?
And then crippling a kid for jaywalking.

Too bad he went to far lately with this approach. Dunkirk and Oppenheimer visually suffered from this obsession of his of avoiding CGI.

If you want a suggestion on which director to do next, I think Martin Scorsese would be appropriate
Killers of the Flower Moon came out last year just like Oppenheimer, Marty has been on people’s minds thanks to his Internet content on TikTok and Letterboxd and (most importantly) HE’S PUFF DADDY!!!!
I would like to see a David Fincher Ranking, but oh boy, Martin Scorsese deserved it betterl
Honestly, either Martin Scorsese or Robert Zemeckis would be excellent choices. I’d love to see him rank both.
Others that would be great to do are David Fincher, Denis Villenueve, Tim Burton, and Quentin Tarantino (though I’d wait until his final film comes out).
He mentioned M. Night Shyamalan, but that’s… not a good idea honestly.
Personally, I would like to see him rank the Zack Snyder films. Knowing that he talked about generally bad animation studios in the past, I think it would be fair if he talked about generally bad directors as well
i've thought about rob reiner but i don't think there's any surprises in ranking his films to be interesting
@@andrewheaney4874 He could also do older directors too, like Alfred Hitchcock
THANK YOU!! Batman Begins is a gem!
I always say this film is seriously underrated, and I feel validated by the crab.
9:05 In fairness it is stated by Dr Pavel that it's a neutron bomb where the radius is only 6 miles, neutron bombs radiation is far more concentrated at the center and the speed required to get that distance clear of the city in the time left before detonation (roughly a minute) is plausible.
oh boy new schaffrillas video cant wait to see his thoughts on my personal favorite nolan film, tenet
You’re telling me that this man made the Batman trilogy *and* a movie where the villain is named “man?”
the png of Christopher Nolan's head on trail....we're so back
Using a non-linear structure for a video about a guy who's whole deal is that his movies have a non-linear structure is honestly really creative.
the only thing bad about Oppenheimer is that Einstein never stuck out his tongue
The final line of dialogue in Oppenheimer might be the greatest ever in a movie, it's like the whole movie is just setup to maximize the impact of that one short sentence.
The whole surveillance dillema was the his most "what did he mean by this" moment imo
I find it super engaging and each time you watch it, it gets better!
i got to hear schaffrillas say "BUT HEY THATS JUST A THEORY", my life is complete

Interstellar at 8 is crazy
Great video. Next, I think you should either do Kubrick or Paul Thomas Anderson as you mentioned Kubrick a lot in the Spielberg ranking and I would like to see your in depth thoughts on films like Barry Lyndon, 2001, etcetera. In regards to PTA, I would like to see you talk about Punch-Drunk Love, The Master, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood, etcetera. Both filmmakers have relatively short filmography. I hope you take in my suggestions.
Thank You.
Time for Denis Villeneuve ranking video
Interstellar is my personal favorite theater experience ever. Literally got me interested in space 😅
Finally, I have been waiting for this video ever since I discovered your channel way back!!!! Thank you for this Schaff! :))
SCHAFF… I never comment on videos. Like ever. But I can honestly not thank you enough for this video. I have never even heard of half of these movies (an uncultured swine I know) but I have been following your content for awhile particularly because of your animated movie reviews/interest in musical theatre. I love them. I watch you like every single day. For the first time from watching your channel I actually checked out a movie I haven’t seen before after watching your review. I JUST finished The Prestige (literally like 3 minutes ago) and I immediately ran back to this video because of how GOOD and absolutely floored I was with the twist. It was just such a good film. And I would have never even known about it without watching your video that piqued my interest. Now I can’t wait to watch more movies on this list (I haven’t seen Interstellar or the Dark Knight trilogy yet). Keep making your amazing content you’re my favorite TH-camr. And guys WATCH THE PRESTIGE you won’t regret it. Love ur content crab man :)
The prestige is a phenomenal movie. Please see interstellar and momento if you haven’t already. Those might be my two favorites of his
Out of all the things I've watched by you and your crew, I was completely surprised that you couldn't take Robin Williams as a killer... I'm sure you've seen 1-hour photo... I don't know. Even before I saw 1-hour photo, I liked him playing against type in insomnia because he's almost too likable in a creepy way and that worked for me. Dig your work! Just had to say something LOL
Yeah, Robin was excellent in 1 Hour Photo, that role should've gotten him a lot more accolades. Also I agree on Insomnia.
No shot he put Dark Night Rises at 11. Criminally underrated movie.
How? It deserved dead last ngl
@@mattdragon1253 no it didn’t. It’s still one of the best comic book films of the last 12 years.
@@SaberRexZealot yeah because the competition is made of mostly overrated, artistically mid movies
