Early 70's I used to sneak listens to my brother's records when I was a kid - a big orange box - side 1... old foreign guy cracking jokes about the audience liking the tuning and asking the audience to refrain from smoking. Then these wild sounds and beautiful melodies, and amazing shredding jams. I was hooked. So cool to hear this again today. Thank you gurujis Ravi, Ali Akbar Khan & Alla Rakha!
One entry in my Top 10 of the best live concerts(Not this show,a 1990's show in Reading) that I have attended.Mind you,the guy at WOMAD made sure a standing crushed like sardines crowd in a marquee all sat down...making it both one awesome concert - alongside one of the most uncomfortable hours as I was sat on others,others were sat on me ... They should have had it on an outdoor stage,not in a marquee.One half of me was thinking "Incredible...it could go on for hours" while the other half was thinking "Fucking Hell,this in uncomfortable,I'd rather be standing up.When it is going to end and I can stretch my legs?" .
