    The thing about data scientist role is that it sounds good, but it's actually almost always data analysis + data engineering. And most of the time it's data engineering stuff they are doing. Therefore, companies are starting to realize that they need data engineers not data scientists.

      The tech field is always changing, and the scope of roles is continuously adjusted and realigned, but as long as you continue learning and growing, there will be a place to find a use for your skills. If you are learning python (or R), SQL, and statistics right now as part of your training, those are still valuable and important fundamental skills for anyone in the data pipeline.

      The role is undergoing a shakeup, it's not really dying, the skills you pick up in a data science course are still going to be useful. As any relatively new profession has to change, adjust to the trend of high specialization. In that sense, we are going to be forced to choose a branch of this profession, and as someone said in another comment, this is going to favor the companies, surely the salaries are going to be lower.
      I think the title of the video is a bit exaggerated.

  • @willg2834

    This sensationalist clickbait title and thumbnail is really upsetting to see. It’s not justified at all in the tone of the video; see 6:20 “I think this is a good thing”. I understand there is pressure to create buzz around an inflammatory topic, but I also would consider it misinformation. There’s a teenager in the comments who was clearly affected in a negative way by this. Doesn’t seem worth it to me

    This is just a way for companies to still ask for advance skills while paying you less. Look at the difference in salary between data scientist and product analyst or any role with research in it

  • @souravsuresh2766
    @souravsuresh2766 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    People who are scared of the title of the video should understand that the title is like that to attract views (which isn't a bad thing). Essentially the change is a good thing as the roles are much clearer, allowing efficient job search and preparation. It will also push the researchers (who are usually highly qualified ) to research, leaving product analyst roles to people who are starting out analytics.

    Finally they have started to realized. (Product/Business/Business Intelligence) Analyst is an upgrade to a Data Analyst role, which falls under the Data Analyst job stream.
    Please understand that this is not a segregation of DS role into DS and Product Analyst but a correction due to misconception and misunderstanding of job roles by the companies. This will help people to understand and align with their expectations and save a lot of time.
