Douglas Price Ion was the sleeper meta titan. She hard counters both northstar and legion, I.e laser shot or vortex shield. She's finally being put into her place of being the jack of all trades, good at everything, master of none.
I never really leave comments on TH-cam, but this has to be said. I (without a single doubt in my mind) Fucking love this game. How dare I pick up CODIW and BF1 over this masterpiece!!? I'm so hurt on the idea that I've missed out, this long. I just picked this up a few days back, an the only thing I dislike about it are the player numbers. We have to FIX this! Tell your friends! Your wives! If you live in the future and can travel time like it's no big deal, then do that and tell the milk delivery man!

The reason why there is so little playes is they think its too hard to play and get rekt by pros in their first match. The learning curve is too steep. But I really like this game too
I think the reason for the small amount of players is the release date...not very smart EA...not at all.
The Ion nerf is far too harsh. Ion and Legion are the only titans keeping Ronin in check, With this patch Ronin is going to be more OP than ever.
Tone is still extremely viable, even after nerfs, don't forget about her.
Also, maybe Monarch is also going to help this problem?

AuGZA Your wrong I have a Scortch set up that will take the majority of Ronin health and add that with the improve heat shield, I have managed to take out a fully health Legion and Ronin with a trick I learned however it doesn't work against Tone and Northstar. Ion depends how stupid the person is. But I won't share what it is since it took me forever to figure it out.
AuGZA I see 2 or more ronins with every match that I would get and in those matches I see a lot of players using the devotion and G2. devotion really needed the nerf, for ion the laser cannon needed the nerf everything else about her is fine, would like to see the G2 with slightly less range.

Shields no longer stop Executions? I don't see why that was necessary, it meant that a Doomed Titan could actually do things and not get insta killed if you got too close, which was super helpful to Ronin!

Smiley Trashbag Since the presence of shields can be expected to be more frequent with Monarch being added, it's likely a means to prevent titans from becoming too difficult to kill/execute, since Monarch's energy siphon ability will be able to give herself and friendly titans shields a lot, and preventing too many executions were it not for such a change.
Just tone down the damage instead of having it use more energy for laser shot.

Why nerf the Laser Core? I get the issues with Laser Shot, but with the fact that you have to boot up the core and then aim it at enemies makes it deserving of an OHKO.

Marco Calleja the shield thing is because monarch, the new titan, can give friendly titans a shield
to help with the ion nerf use turbo bust an her kit that make splitter rifle restore energy and use either battery boost or phase shift so you can steal a battery and phase shift out of danger

Glad the double tapping us out, never once have I doubled tapped an enemy when I played Ion. Also glad the Devotion is getting a slight nerf as well.

The R-201/101 damage buff isn't really necessary but I'm okay with that :D

I mained ion, and all those legion fags kept saying "another laser core!!!" so I was like, well let's see if legion is indefensible against it, now I'm about to reach level ten legion and it is not that bad, the gun shield blocks a chunk of it like it does the salvo core. I think it's all those inexperienced cry babies that want it their way. as for the laser shot, it's the only defense against Northstar

Radip _ _ I feel lilke people have relied so much on laser shot they have forgotten her other basic tools. You people know you aim that splitter rifle and do almost triple the damage right? A full splitter rifle mag with full energy takes half the health of a scorch or legion and almost dooms a stryder class assuming you hit some crits. It's pathetic damage while hip firing yes but that's just meant to get your energy charged up while keeping up pressure. She doesn't melt like some titans but that isn't her role. She's a jack of all trades, master of none titan. shes useful in any situation but not the best at any of them.

Seriously they need to make ronin's phase dash use up 1 dash, while buff the projectile speed of Northstar, then remove the phase shift ability's second charge or make it a boost or something. Now instead of fixing 1 useless titan and get rid of the ronin frenzy, they just added another useless titan. Ion's laser shot nerf is ok, but Ion's splitter rifle should be buffed, shooting a primary weapon at the titan's weak spot effectively does more damage than that piece of garbage
Ronin is just fine, no nerfs or buffs are needed for that titan.
Simulator Mortalis That change would kill the whole point of ronin, his mobility. Ronin is the most well balanced titan in the game in that he has a clearly defined niche and can be easily exploited if you know what you're doing. hell if you play scorch you can take out most ronins like nothing. And anybody else can just keep him at a distance to win.
Most ronins are terrible anyways. they just dash in and try to constantly melee, then nuke eject within 30 seconds of getting their titan. it's a waste of a titan.

Seriously though, a guy called Shampooh (here on YT) datamined the game and found complete FD2 pilot kits. So far, Grapple, Phase and Sword are the only ones that work. (Basically you get superpowers, regardless of which kit you choose.)

For me, as an Ion main... I don't get the nerfs. Laser shot I totally understand the double tapping, but if I were to nerf it, it's EITHER damage reduc or increased energy usage, not both, because Laser Shot is Ion's main damaging weapon imo. Next off, Laser Core nerf? Laser Core does fine on it's on, with or without Grand Cannon, so I don't understand the need of it, besides, it's super easy to dodge the laser core, just don't expose yourself to open spaces. Just saying, Ion doesn't need a huge nerf imo.
So summed up- Ion got the shaft, You can be yoinked or showstopped in titans now, and devotion finally nerfed

Natayo are you kidding me Ronin blocks every shredd of damage with its sword, its phase shift is op it doesn't even use a whole dash bar. Ion the only thing it had going for it was the laser shot, cause the spliter is weak unless you are using the spliter core. Yes laser shot is strong, just reduce how fast you can use it dont take damge away. Then ontop of that the reduced laser core damage, it doesn't even last that long and it is easy to dodge. Ronin & Legion should have gotten a nerf.

one last comments for ion main a good way to counter the nerf is use turbo boost her kit that makes the SR restore energy and use battery boost ,phase shift or both

Legion main here. I can personally tell you that I appreciate the ION nerf, I can't tell you how many times frustrated enemy teams switched to ION on LTS. before the nerf you couldn't come into eye sight of a ION they'll just vortex everything you pump into them and laser shot you if you try and flee. super super annoying and it took very little skill

This is my favorite patch ever. My ronin is now fully charged on ion pilot tears.
Thank PHUCK! Those double tapped laser shots were ridiculous. I could handle Tone no problem and even started using it after it got balanced. But Ion was such a dominating force with that laser shot. I couldn't do shit unless I rushed them. By the time I get to them, they've doomed me!

Here's my personal patch note for what I think Respawn should do.
Weapon Balance:
Volt near damage increased.
R97 Far damage reduced, horizontal recoil reduced.
DMR has better aim assist, and less recoil. Amped damage reduced to prevent 1-shot kills.
G2 fire rate reduced, recoil increased.
Devotion damage slightly reduced, horizontal recoil increased during ramp up, reduce hipfire accuracy.
Flatline horizontal recoil reduced during initial burst, damage at all ranges reduced.
Spitfire hipfire accuracy increased.
Double-take projectile speed increased.
Pilot Balance:
Phase shift only has 1 charge, decrease recharge time.
A-Wall duration decreased.
Pilots who shoot a Holopilot are pinged similar to pulse blade.
Grapple recharge time slightly decreased.
Electric smoke grenade has 2 charges.
Titan Balance
Ion laser shot requires a brief charge up time. Non-critical laser shot damage slightly reduced. Splitter rifle consumes less energy when split.
Ronin sword block reacts immediately when used, sword block can only be used for 5 seconds before requiring recharge.
Scorch flame shield duration increased and damage reduced. Firewall has an additional charge. Thermite launcher critical hit damage and reload speed increased.
Northstar plasma railgun charge up time decreased and projectile speed slightly increased. Tether trap recharge time decreased.
After reading Ion's Nerf list, I can only say this.....
We should never have touched Tone. And when Monarch comes out, don't be surprised when she gets the nerf too.
The volt at least got a buff again, so that makes up for it.
I'm quite disappointed they didn't reduce the core meter amount gained from damaging Titans with Scorch's core. After using it I always got 30-50% back, more if I killed other Titans, which I find to be ridiculous.
When editing your Titan, go to Titanfall kit and look at the silhouette of the titan on the "Dome shield" and "Warpfall" They look alot like Monarch don't they?

I think to compensate for Ion's laser nerf they should of maybe increased a little the spliter rifles hip fire damage cuz that thing is almost useless unless you aim down sight which in turn drains your energy.
Devotion wasn't nerfed enough. Needs less accuracy as well. And more time to ramp up
Finally an Ion nerf. This morning I was getting getting double tapped by Ion's laser shot and it's a little irking. I don't mind being hit by the laser shot the first shot, but being able to instantly charge up another one is ridiculous in my opinion.

Ion's perk Entangled Energy will now have more time to shine since laser shot has been nerfed, Also i wanted some nerfs but laser core has no common sense reason to get nerfed, Cores are meant to be good DPS that you have worked for.

Ben when ion can double tap laser shot and suck a good portion of health from Northstar (or any titan for that matter) from across the map and constantly peek from cover, yeah, it's a problem.
ion deserves the nerfs from this update, which means grand cannon isn't as powerful as before and laser shot can't be abused to all hell and zap titan health away.
This patch maybe good with the new Titan and all, but with Ion being nerfed its just a little pain in the neck.
Cloak Should get buffed. I suggest making it where when you fire your gun, your cloak meter goes to where it was at when you first it, not restarting the whole process

Titanfall 3 is said to come out on 2019 and the Xbox and ps something are coming in 2017-2020 so why not try to make cinematic or live action graphics and also keep the boosts but add burn cards, just make them weaker and make the boosts more interactive and tactical/lethal
Not sure the Laser Core needed nerfing. It's wind up time is so long and it's so easy to avoid that it isn't that effective at all. In fact, I almost never see it used, ever. Actually, I think it's the worst core out of the bunch.
I play Ion a lot. When my core is charged, I almost always ignore it because I know trying to use it almost always ends in getting my ass kicked.

Everybody here is focusing on the nerf to ion, but why was it necessary to buff the laser beam that is the R-101, and the R-201? they're already extremely consistent weapons, and it doesn't seem like it should've been done

Not sure how I feel about Ion getting reduced damage for the laser shot. Never played him much cause he never felt like he dealt a lot of damage. Only thing I am worried about is the tactikill being reduced but that just might be me being paranoid.

they did a little to much nerfing on Ion they should have incresed the required energy or decreased the damage not both at once and in my opinion the s lazer core didn't do much any way you had to bring their health down to the last two or three bars to kill them and that was if you had competent aim.

Crash site is my least liked map in TF2, but the new info on the coming update for the map makes it sound interesting. Only time will tell.

All the patch notes are great, But what sorta bugs me is Ion's nerf.
1. Laser Shot Damage Reduction. Yes that was needed since it took a decent amount of life away from squishy titans ( Northstar, Ronin ).
2. More Energy Required For Laser Shot. That i can understand since it can go south with the fact your "Out Sniping" A Northstar twice in a row taking all its health away and pretty much dealing that much damage from great range. Don't forget, Ion wasn't created to be a sniper so it's good to see they tried to tune that down abit.
3. Lasor Core Damage Decreased. Wtf? 😂
Does this mean we'll actually be seeing the volt back on the battlefield? This is a good day!
I wonder how many tone will be killed by ronin primes and pilots using Titan hunter. RIP tone 2016/2017
To be fair, I find the pilot hunter kit near useless, I normally get my titan meter filled from damage alone, not from killing them.
Executions no longer blocked by shields wtf? Thats what made titan vs titan combat more interesting😕. And instead of nerfing titans they should just buff them to a point to where they are all balanced. Having a titan is supposed to make you feel unstoppable.

Can't answer "silently in my head" too much clutter there! So here goes, first the changes all "sound" like good things but as always the proof is in the pudding! We will really be able to answer this question once we get our hands on DLC.
On the surface I am glad they are addressing the Volt, was one of my favs, got it to 10 in no time on the PS4 but then the "nerf" came out and I couldn't do a thing with it on the Xbox. The R-97 is my current fav but it agree it was just like an assault rifle at distance this will be a good move, I think provided they don't overdue it like they did with the Volt.
Good update as usual, lets hope they keep the good stuff coming and that June brings us map(s)!
This patch isn't so bad. I'm glad they nerfed Ion, tired of her getting freebie damage from far across the map (which by the way HAS NO DAMAGE DROP OFF). And for the weapon changes, I'm on the neutral end of that spectrum.

The only nerfs I'm happy to hear about is the nerfs to Ion's Laser shot, since Ion ought not be the best sniper titan. They should have left the core alone though and considered buffing the velocity (not damage) of North Star's rail gun projectile.
I'm neutral about the Devotion nerfs. I don't think they were necessary, but you can't use the thing without people bitching at you, I think only once the Devotion is no longer worth using will people be OK with the Devotion being used by anyone. Its all in player's heads now.
The amped nerf to the DMR makes it kind of shit now. I only used it occasionally when I got amped. Even as a hitscan weapon, people move fast and can get to cover consistently before a 2nd hit at the ranges you ought to be using it at. And Headshots are for savants. Might as well never snipe, all the snipers in this game kind of suck. Hell, people rightly think the Kraber is a hard weapon to use but I actually think its the best Sniper just because of its 1HK ability. You can't let your targets realize they are being sniped or they'll just get behind cover and wait for regen on being hit once by a sniper.
I wont say the other snipers aren't maybe worth playing around with, but they don't seem like they're competitive to me.

People crying over the Ion nerf likely never played LTS for more than a few minutes otherwise they'd know how cancer she was. This nerf was so, so badly needed, and all it does is nerfing the peek-and-double-snipe BS which is also an indirect buff to Northstar who can now be the designated sniper as it goddamn should without getting out-peeked by hitscan lasers across the map. This nerf is really only aimed at players who used Ion because she was easy mode and they were too lazy to learn her other mechanics. People who are _actually_ good at Ion are still gonna be just as effective with her.
So they just nerfed ion into obscurity. Drop laser shots damage AND prevent double tapping. They should have picked one. Laser shot is really her only good pilot killer.
