Bro i have same story, i switched from a tester to ux designer and trust me i am getting a pkg of 30% tax bracket. before this i was into 10% tax bracket . its a amazing feeling , i gave about 40 -50 interviews to become expert on this.

You can switch your career in UX/UI design. It's not necessary to be from IT background in UI UX design. Enroll in UX UI design course or you can learn for free on internet, just build a awesome portfolio of your design for the interview. If you want to learn it for free you can go for Google UI UX course.
TH-cam start with basics of design, like typography, alignment, font, color theory then design thinking once you are kind of good with graphuc design then go for UI and theory, basic fundamentals around ui and ux it all comes down to thinking then start building your portfolio look on behance for inspiration
Based on my knowledge that's depend and vary depending upon project there is separate role with name ux writer who actually focus on writing but let's say you are good in research you might be only doing research.

Ux design is the new engineering nowadays. With the number of people entering into the field just for the sake of a good pay package, the field is destined to go on a downward spiral especially in India.
Without degree I don't think it's possible. As they have degree mentioned in most of the case. You can try google certificate as this program offer degree when you complete the course and recognised by many companies. After completing this course under google consortium program you can participate & get chance for interview and if you get selected you are in. Do your own research that's what I can suggest.
Its difficult but not possible I have seen many people got job and working as software engineer who are having 2 years of gape so don't think it will be obstacle or you can't get job. You will get less opportunity but when you get grab it.
