    Dear Gil:
    Oh my, I did it all wrong. First I pealed the two, zucchini squash I purchased, at Walmart, yesterday. Then I sliced them into chunks and cooked them, until quite soft, with my beans. Lastly, I put them in a bowl, to cool, before chopping (i.e. mashing) them up, and adding them to some, frozen, blanched broccoli I keep, in my freezer, for fish food. Next time, I’ll maintain the skin and see if my ancistrus will enjoy raw zucchini.
    Thank you for sharing this, interesting and informative video on vegetables, for aquarium fishes. I appreciate you getting such knowledge out, to other aquarists.
    All my best,
    Sincerely,
    E. J. Brinegar

      Like I said in the video E.J, not all Bristlenose will eat the skin, although my two big guys prefer to eat that part first. I will be interested to see if yours is the same.

    Just after I had fed my fish with fresh veggies, I see this. For people who don't mind and/or even prefer tea water, botanicals may also serve for that fiber.
    I know BN plecos can get huge. Mine is only 3.5inches after 2yrs + but I've seen larger ones than that of yours in real life.

    • @Gilsfishroom
      @Gilsfishroom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This BN has grown significantly bigger than his siblings that are kept in smaller tanks. How big was the largest one you have seen?

    • @MorningDriftwood
      @MorningDriftwood ปีที่แล้ว

      @GV Aquariums Australia the body was around 9-10 inches. I'm not counting the longfin of it. Another thing I found weird with it was that it is a female. After reading and hearing a lot that the males grow larger. I kept checking if it was a common pleco, but it really is a BN.

    Thanks for the excellent ideas for feeding veggies to fish. Your fish are absolutely stunning.
    My zucchini slices don't seem to sink even after boiling them for quite a while. Another you tuber suggested freezing them after boiling but that didn't seem to work for me either.

    • @Gilsfishroom
      @Gilsfishroom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the slice hasn't sunk in 5 or so minutes, I zap the mug in the microwave for a minute to keep the water hot. That is usually enough to make it sink. The thinner the slice, the quicker it will sink.

    I have been feeding my Plecos zucchini, but find I have to change my water a lot more frequently now. I use a stainless steel peg and push it into the substrate. Lol...usually, 4 slices are demolished overnight 😅.
    My tank has Guppies, shrimp and Plecos I rescued from my daughter in laws tank. Im getting another tank from my grandson to try ( lol) and separate the females.
    Ive tried pumkin and rockmelon, but Zucs are their favourite.
    Just clean and change the filter more often?

    Earlier today I was looking at another TH-cam video dealing with the same topic -- feeding vegetables to fish. Interesting the way you feed yours zucchini so I have a question: Most of my fish are guppies so can I stick a chunk of zucchini on the glass like you did for my guppies or would I have to cut it up --maybe grind it -- because the guppies' mouth is not as big as your fish's mouth? Awaiting and would appreciate an answer; thanks. Blessings to you and all those you love.

    Great video! How often do you put zucchini in your tanks? I just put a good size in my 45 gallon tank before going out of town for the weekend, and I was shocked that it was completely gone upon getting home. I have 2 plecos and 4 shrimp and 7 tetras. I prefer feeding them veggies over the algae wafers. How often do you put zucchini in your tank?

    • @Gilsfishroom
      @Gilsfishroom  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't have a set routine, I just feed it whenever I think to pick some up. I tend to feed the beans more often, as it's easy to keep a few tins in the cupboard. I reckon that you can feed zucchini as often as you like provided it is eaten in under a couple of days.
