I made my ribs more visible on purpose because my stage name is ribs. Backstory: my ex girlfriend said that she was scared of my ribs because they looked a bit visible in a photo I send her and I got super insecure but now I'm embracing that as part of a character
So I’m a big nu metal fan, but it fucking pisses me off when people who aren’t actually a part of the Black metal or goth community use KORN SONGS. ITS NU METAL. People act like it’s the heaviest shit ever created and I’m really annoyed that people like that exist. I’m not the hugest black metal fan but at least I know the difference. Jesus.
We like really really cold and unpalatable music because to us it sounds good. Some of us understand it doesn't sound good to others, and unfortunately some of us are really really angry about people who don't think it sounds good. The best people in the community I've met (yes, there is in fact an absolutely massive black metal community and saying otherwise it's wild) are the ones who can actually admit they like other music, even if bm is their favourite.
what confuses me most about this whole subreddit is half of these people aren't even claiming to be into black metal. like they'll have just dark makeup and use a random song that isn't black metal and people will freak and post about how much of a poser they are. how can they be a poser if they're not even posing as anything in the first place?
i feel like the problem with most of the "pelle fanart/euro fanart/varg fanart" is the fact that this art was propably made because these three are heavily sexualised online (usually tiktok), and the artist supports that behaviour
About corpse paint, it always seemed a bit cringe for anyone to wear it unless they were a musician/band either performing the music, doing promo shots for their music, or just making stupid/funny skits that aren't meant to be taken seriously. I'm pretty far from being in the 'trve kvlt' crowd (I laugh at way too much stuff, I'd get my basement membership card revoked - plus I'm female so probably wouldn't be allowed anyway) but I wince whenever I see corpse paint used so liberally. For me, it's a part of the performance and art of the music itself.
LOL that's me with the white hat peekin' over the comments at 8:29 haha. Yeah, for some reason that tiktok sparked this huge discourse whether or not metal is or isn't satanic. Doesn't matter to me, I'm just a poser who likes Nu-Metal.
im fairly new to black metal and I have to say when anyone does the insane amount of lines on their corpse paint it just looks so ugly, its just genuinely awful
Don’t get me wrong I fucking hate black metal and think death metal dunks on that shitass genre, I feel the drawing of dead was fucked, disrespecting the dead bro, he actually had problems and was suffering (yeah he was prolly a pos and an edge lord) but I feel like doing that to a guy who killed himself is extremely disrespectful.
10:15 Someone, please, remind me the name of the album with 3 deformed gray faces on its cover. I remember listening to it once long ago, but I forgot the title
Watching this video as an edgy little kid who tries to make myself look like a dead guy on purpose and doesn’t even listen to black metal is so funny 😭😭 I’d probably end up on this subreddit because I’m cringe as hell but it’s still fun to watch people react to this sort of stuff
Black metal fanbase is kinda weird and wannabe edgy. They hate eachother for liking different bands of their own genre lol. Less listeners means better for them, seems like they're scared to being called posers.
I ended up being happy yt suggested your video to me, i dont have reddit acc or scroll through online bm comunities for a few years now, so it was fun reminder of how rediculous they can be, and even how i myself was rediculous from time to time :D
I literally got into the genre from Lords Of Chaos. But I did 1 thing different. I did more than 3 seconds of research on things and actually listened to it.
lets just remember, if you listen to METAL, youre a metalhead. but dont EVER dare to mainstream too hard, or call people posers (when they actaully listen to it)... i live for black metal🤘
you seem to have caught this sub on a good day. i actually got banned from this sub because i attempted to defend a 14yr old new black metal fan who the sub was making fun of for being into popular black metal bands, bands that arent black metal, and for being a part of the LGBT community.
11:18 I think Sunn O))) is doom metal but not sure if it is black metal as well. About doomishness and nihilism, Shining and Forgotten Tomb are the best surface - level DSBM bands I know but I haven't scratched the surface yet
I swear atleast one or more people are wearing a nirvana shirt when I go out in public, and I guarantee you they wear it bc other ppl do and they probably never finished a whole album let alone a song before they got that shirt they just wanna look cool bc they listen to nirvana I’m not hating on nirvana but all these people probably never listened to one of there songs before they got that shirt.
I don’t think you’re a poser man. There’s levels to fandom imo.then of course if you can pull the look off. Tik tok is the worst when it comes to it Your corpse paint pics had me though. Really funny. Love your humor. 🤘🤘🤘
@Euronycs_09 generally its someone that represents a subculture but doesnt know any of the subtext behind it, or does it just to look cool. Its made worse when theyre also the kind of people who would bully actual people within said subculture if it wasnt cool or trendy
Watched it, now I have a serious question for you: do you consider yourself a proper BM worshipper? I'm asking because of your evident concerns about any form of hate or discrimination. I'm asking because BM is notoriously not simply one more music genre, and surely is not about traditional moral values, as it often deals with feelings such as misanthropy, hate, disgust, and so on. Therefore, I find it hard to understand how someone can be truly into BM, while still be concerned about issues of hatred, or any expression of ideals that are generally considered unacceptable.
@@fabiopatane9160 i genuinely enjoy the black metal i listen to, and im aware of all the icky things that come with it. I also separate art from the artist and i do appreciate some (tho very little) nsbm bands/adjacent for their music, not the people behind them. But overall i moreso acknowledge the unfortunate side of the genre and i do avoid it. I also understand the purpose of the nsbm genre and i’m not trying to be all like “hurdur get rid of the genre”. I also surprisingly agree with a lot of the misanthropy that shows up in pretty much all black metal, i’m just happier than i appear because i like to escape through humor. But i hate *everyone* , i don’t single out a group of people because they annoy me. @@TheSexyAsianGuy Thank you for taking that much time to reply. Erik Danielsson of Watain - who is a very thoughtful and clever gent, - has been publicly critical of NSBM, as in his opinion using BM for delivering specific political believes is a rather superficial approach to the genre, which instead deals with much more profound and essential issues, needs, and emotions. Your reply looks well articulated and thoughtful, but to me ends up being “smoky”. You for once seem to be a bit too careful, too sensible, too concerned, according to BM standards. I find it thus a bit funny, when someone cares to discriminate between different forms of hatred, as “universal hatred is fine, as long as it doesn’t focus on a specific demographic group.” That’s too PC to me, too “modern” of an approach to me, too rational. It shows an intellectually fragility, at the end of the day. I, to give you an example, don’t care. I hold a vision of the world, and I hold on to my individual values and beliefs. NSBM doesn’t interest me, but it also doesn’t bother me at all. BM comes to help me with this, as most of the times, lyrics are unintelligible. But this helps generally speaking, as I fear bad lyrics (e.g.: those who seem to have been written by a nine year-old), more than “dangerous” ones. I can listen to a NSBM band, as long as their music delivers what true BM is supposed to be about. Also, look at yourself: you could be of Filipino or Malaysian origin. And, if you have grown up in the US, how can I not presume your ethnicity has been an essential key factor in developing your sensitivity (thus, what you look for in music for individual relief/gratification), as well as your approach to ideologies? How can I not presume your life experience so far, has been shaped by the inevitable tensions due to growing up in a Western (well, up to a few decades ago for sure)-shaped Country? Imagine you were born a true Scandinavian , and in a Scandinavian Country. Would it be that foolish to imagine your sensitivity related to so-called racism and NSBM might be radically different (this if your mind hadn't yet been contaminated by political correctness, or woke nonsense)? Words have lost their meaning. Often, what is labelled as “NSBM” is just music that deals with a sense of pride for our own origins, for our own Country, history and traditions (when we still have any, of course), and the threats that concern us. All this is due to end soon however, as the way the world is changing, will make all these concerns of yours soon irrelevant. Also, there’s this detached approach of yours towards all, this ironic, post-modern, mocking approach, this fear of taking anything “too” serious, which is typical of nowadays youth, and that is a very poisonous approach to reality, I believe. BM is a very serious matter, and irony is often a tool used by people who feel uncomfortable with some specific issues, to be able to approach the genre; people who couldn’t otherwise bear the full weight of it all. It can therefore be a sign of weakness. Irony is also a destructive tool, and its aim might deserve to be looked into very seriously rather than not.
@TheSexyAsianGuy Also, you refer to "community" and what "the others" think way too much: BM is not about a community, it is not about "us", as it is not "metal". BM is about the individual, and a sort of "community" is just one of the inevitable consequences of a genre spreading. And, there's nothing funny about it, as funny become only something that had been done poorly, or not heartfelt.
