    for number 7 i used the distance between two points formula and it worked just as well FYI.
    Square root ( (Y2-Y1)^2 + (X2-X1)^2 ) is a little more straight to the point if there is no diagram!
    Also, for 14. I set a ratio of 1.5/x = 5/4 and the answer when cross multiplying was exactly 1.2

    Question 15: From the graph, we see that the line goes through (0,0). So we can find the slope and the equation shows -m=1.5n, which is answer A. What I am missing here? Slope: -2/3-; so, y=-2/3 x -> n = -2/3 m -> -m = 3/2 n.

      Your final answer is right but the conclusion is wrong. If (-m) is negative and is equal to 3/2 (1.5) of n. For the equation to tally, n must be negative. So if n=-2, -m =1.5(-2) =-3. Negative -2 two is greater than -3.

    In the question with the slope as -13/12 we can clearly see that the rise is greater in magnitude than the run, so without calculating intercepts the answer is clear that since a0 is the rise and ob the run, ao has to be bigger. since both ao and ob are in first quadrant, they are both positive and values can be compared directly, if they were to be in any other quadrant, we'll do the same by first calculating which has a greater magnitude then seeing which is bigger after considering signs as well.

    Hii Philip..
    Quick question, in question no. 9.. following graph equation y = -|-x|..
    Why not option A ??.. because if considered y=mx+c and c is zero which means line is passes through origin and slope must m must be in negative direction =>which give {y=-x}
    So why not A ?

    Hi Philip, quick question. Aren't the coordinate geometry questions drawn to scale in GRE? So we will kind of know the positioning in Q8 or am I missing something here- this is with respect to Q8
    Also in Q11 why is the endpoint 9,-9 like we did in the later questions to maintain the symmetry of moving 10 points to the left shouldn't we have moved 10 points to the right and then 10 points down to get (10,-10)?

    Hey Philip! Loving the videos so far, just a question: In Question 14 and 15, you'd mentioned the ratio of coordinates of 2 points on the same line have to be the same. I'd noticed that these two lines pass through the origin. So, is the point about consistent ratios valid only for lines passing through the origin or any line in general?

    • @TheTestedTutor
      @TheTestedTutor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just those going through the origin. But for any line the ratio moving between coordinates will stay the same, even if not thr actual coordinates.

    • @suneelnadipalli2685
      @suneelnadipalli2685 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheTestedTutor Thanks for the quick reply Philip. Ohh, ohkay so for a line passing through the origin, the ratio of coordinates on that line is the same, i.e if (a,b) and (c,d) are two points on a line going through the origin, a:b = c:d. Would that be correct?
      PS: I quite didn't get the second sentence of your reply 😅

    You, Sir, are doing the Lord’s work, can’t thank you enough, Philip. But I was wondering what the question 15 suggested that the point B is exactly a mirror image of point A. Couldn’t it have been any point before or after (3,-2) , granted that it’s not drawn to scale, making the answer D instead?

    • @nrkarthik4768
      @nrkarthik4768 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly what I'm thinking, it's nowhere mentioned in the graph that it's extending the same distance into the IV quadrant as well, so as far as we know, it could be (2,-2) as well, or it could be (3,-2) too, making the answer "Option D"

    Hey Philip. I'm struggling to know what the question is asking. For question 8, seems we needed to multiply the variables (I thought they were asking for the length of the line segment). For question 13, I thought aha, multiply the variables (each variable multiplied by O means they're both equal to zero), but it was asking for the length of the segment! How do you know what the GRE is asking for?
