    • @NoOne-ul5fb
      @NoOne-ul5fb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are pencil sharpeners with two holes of different sizes available. Used one for years. It is not for making kindling, but for making tender. Break a small dead branch off a tree even in a rain storm. Peal off wet bark and what is left is a dry wood stick ready to be sharpened into tender.

      each kit should be personalized to each persons preferences and skill... but this video is still good for people who dont know where to start....also my kit would have electrical tape too... its versital.. waterproof "mostly..but even duct tape will fail eventually" and electrical tape also works good as bandage material too.. specially if you need to seal a cut on a finger...way easier than using duct tape on fingers.. knowing me id have 1 roll duct tape and 2 rolls electrical..

When you talk about your knife, you mention the craft that you do in the woods - I was wondering what type of craft is it that requires you to spend so much time in the wilderness - is it related to your job, or just a hobby? Also, why don't you carry any multi-tools? They don't take up that much space and can be used for many different things. Thanks.

    You are the second person to have a pencil sharpener in your kit. Everyone told me I was crazy for bringing it. LMAO. Your kit and mine is very similar. Your sense of humor is like mine too. Rat traps, good idea, thanks.
    Thanks for the heads up on the gear. I also Cary a folding saw, tree pruning type. Sheath hooks to my belt, I only use it for emergencies. A Gerber multi tool, swiss army knife, and a small medicine bottle of petroleum jelly and liquid iodine, tastes awful but will do in a pinch for water purifier. I also Cary two charcoal briquettes. Thanks so much for your time and advice.

    nice lay out man but I must say I was a little disappointed. You didn't follow the common pattern of most all other survival pack videos on youtube, where a 15 minute video consist of 14 minutes describing the bag in detail and 1 minute rushing through the same old stuff that everyone else has. Next time take the almost the entire video talking about your bag and then your gear in the last few seconds and you will probably get more views and like as that seems to be the general pattern anyway

    You only really need a one person tent. If you and a buddy go out he brings his own goddam tent
    If you and a gf go out. Just use the same sleepin bag eh?

    • @mikewhitaker2880
      @mikewhitaker2880 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      army used to have an interesting tent setup... of course they trained using the buddy system.. either way each person carried half a tent.. stakes included... they were a pain in the arse to setup sometimes.. but worked pretty damn good.... and if you were the odd man out .. well depended on the unit.. you either had to carry 2 tent halves or shack up with 2 other dudes.. or get smart enough to find a way to use 1 half tent as a whole tent... either way.. the tent/shelter system you use is up to how much do you want to lug around..how comfortable you want to be.. how well you handle small spaces.. and how big your wallet is....

    You should try sliding some Band-Aids in that smaller one. I think they really do come in handy, espically the waterproof ones. I usually use potassium permanganate to work with with water. Also, when it comes to water, you carry a straw, you should get a straw with a filter built in, like a survival straw. Also, when dealing with salt water, nighthawk and light made a killer desalination rig.

    Literally the best load out list video I have seen served up in a timely and funny video. I don’t know how many subs you have but you deserve twice as many.
    Edit: PS: how do you like that bivy? I have the stratosphere which I love but that little bit more of room yours provides would have been worth a thumb on some of my trips.

    Nice kit. I keep all my bug out gear already packed in the back of my SUV. Saves time and I can keep more things. Like I keep a pistol cross bow with spare parts and roughly 100 mini cross bolts there with spear fishing bolts and line. It's small and light weight. And yes it has enough power to kill small game like rabbits.

      +max Nixon also adding some rat traps just as a back up for my back ups back up. already have peanut butter in my bag because of the calorie capacity and with the rat traps, a small dab would be sure to bring in some squirrel in a pinch.

    Could not agree more on the Silva compass I carry one and the Cammega US Mil Spec compass both. I carry Reynolds heavy duty aluminum foil as well as the non stick foil you can buy now. I have a big folded sheet of both. The Heavy Duty Foil is some of the most useful stuff you can have with you. Any knife Ethan Becker has designed will do the job period end of statement.
