Toronto-Bound Plane Returns To Karachi After Four Hours | Dawn News English

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Islamabad to Toronto had to turn back to Karachi due to a technical issue on Friday. The Boeing 777, with 268 passengers on board, left Islamabad an hour late at 3:15pm. While flying over Russia, the captain noticed a technical problem and decided to return to Karachi, landing just after 1am on Saturday.
PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan said the issue was minor, but the captain preferred to turn back instead of continuing the long flight over the Atlantic. The aircraft, identified as AP-BGZ, had reported the same issue previously. The decision to return was made because Karachi has better engineering facilities and spare parts.
