    good times, I remember my training team having a wicked sense of humour, locker monstering anyone daft enough to leave theirs unlocked. we came back to find every bit of kit from one locker shoved into an NBC suit and laid out like a body on a bed complete with its own gas mask and boots we thought it was brilliant :)

    I am actually surprised Basic Training in the British Army is so long. I made a comment on I believe the 1st week video, about how much more "polite" British Army PTIs are compared to American Drill Sergeants. It's probably because BCT in the US Army is much shorter, and we Americans are, from the British perspective, "very loud" to begin with. The US Marine DIs are even louder and their Boot Camp is longer. It's a difference in training styles.

    • @djrxp
      @djrxp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment - how long is basic training in the US?

    • @mr.k.i.s.s7496
      @mr.k.i.s.s7496 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@djrxp Depending on Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) the Average is about 10 weeks. The US Army then sends you to Advanced Individual Training (AIT) which can last from 4 to 52 weeks depending on MOS. Infantry, Cavalry Scouts, Combat Engineers, CRBN (Chemical, Radiological, Biological, Nuclear) Specialist (used to be called NBC), and Military Police do One Station Unit Training (OSUT) which combines Basic and AIT into one Training Cycle. Then there are the Special Courses such as Airborne, Air Assault, and Ranger School (which is separate from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program RASP, which is selection for the Regiment).

    Done my basic training in Cetterick way way back in 1988. Served in the armoured corps and Cambrai barracks was where i done it. I remember my first run on the moors. I had never seen a cattle grid before as i was from London and you didnt get many down there. Totally bewildered me until i asked what they were some weeks later..

  • @nunyabitnez3786
    @nunyabitnez3786 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Holy fuckoli, I think I’m legitimately jealous. My first field exercise involved sleeping in a hasty fighting position with a poncho propped up by my rifle as it rained. Never really shown a proper hooch so of course, it was hooch city on the 2nd FTX. No low crawling? Marching sans helmet? Lucky.
    Still, enjoying the videos, it’s always neat to see how other folks do things.

    • @djrxp
      @djrxp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment, sounds like you had a rough time. Don't worry, the recruits do not get it easy. However they do get shown how to do everything first. The instructors educate and demonstrate, then when the course starts to advance the recruits are expected to implement and execute.
      Glad you're enjoying the videos!

      @@wutangtimmy3064 honestly, best bet despite how hard it may sound is to simply be a beast at the physcial if you're going infantry, as in try top the class you would likely be in. This probably means a 9-10 minute (closer to 9) 1.5 mile run and smashing the rest of the exercises. That way if they do bring it up later down the line instead of the system online rejecting you, you'll have someone actually analyse your case and probably let it slide. Best of luck with it though

I have always been very determined despite being more academic than fitness orientated but I’m trying extremely hard to prepare myself for the training.
