Dark souls 3 was my first souls game. I have since gone on to beat every souls game to date. But you want to to know something funny? To this very day, I still can't parry to save my life, with the exception of sekiro. Lol
Haha, it's really it's own mechanic and is competently different in each game (and for each enemy tbh). I started with Dark Souls on the 360 in like 2012, but didn't actually beat Gwyn until like 2020.
I just finished my 2nd playthrough and barely died. The base game is really easy if you seen it once. BUT what I'm wondering: did they make a guide for the DLC's?
They did not! As far as I know, this guide was released shortly after the base game and then Prima had moved on. It is worth noting that I think this is one of the few guides that was not done by Future Press, but even still, I don't think they did any guides for the other DLCs in the series
@@AquaSloth it missed so many side quests, so many NPCs, lore elements and got vital info wrong haha there’s so many better guides simply by googling or on Reddit

Glad you found and enjoyed it dude! That line seems to be a fan favorite, which I did not expect at all when I wrote it. Tbh, I don’t even know that I’ve ever actually heard the song, I just knew that one part 😭
Ahh i remember my first time playing ds3 I couldn't beat gundear for dozens of tries. I got very angry. (playing other ds games feels different) now it takes me 20sec to beat him. Iv played so much I'm a parry master now.
This is how I felt with Abyss Watchers! I remember them being the reason I ended my first like 3 characters, but I can usually first or second try them every time
I think at 20:00 a plural was used to indicate the lower room. There was a disconnected lower area in the same building with a bunch of those guys, but I doubt the guide covers the fact throwing knives knock them down when they try standing.
But did you know that, if you had the greatwood breaking the floor before meeting hodrick, you can still join the mound makers covenant if you complete sirris' questline. Apparently he drops the covenant item when you invade him.
I actually had to look this up when I was writing that bit of the script, so prior to that, I did not! I think I've only completed her questline once, so I don't remember a lot of the details other than fighting Hodrick in Road Of Sacrifices and then on the Irithyll bridge. It's cool that you can still join!
I never have issues with the nameless king. usually 1 fight it. dragon dies fast. second phase i melt him. dodge alot lol. why do ppl claim hes the hardest im so confused?
I think my biggest issue is the weird timing of his move set and if you dodge too fast/too slow, he just wallops you. There's just not a lot of margin for error imo
I have fought the pontiff only once and got him on my first try ever . I had only half of my Estus remaining and just wanted to take a look what I have to fight , but my trusty great sword just ended him in one try
Hmm… I want to say you have to have met Patches back in Firelink, but I could be wrong! Try buying the tower key from the old lady at the shine, then go up the tower and you will meet Patches
Its interesting that the guide has you take tue smoldering lake that way. The "intended" path that no one takes is to start going towards the door then turn back once the worm appears and then have the floor get hit to reveal the staircase to the ruins. Explore that and you end at the boss gate...but literally no one does that, because why would you?
@@AquaSloth well, it could happen to anyone, especially to someone like me, because I'm not an english speaker. So, "Durex Gundyr", "Sister Frieza", "Soul of tinder", "Borat of Boreal Valley", etc. could happen to me anytime, lol
First off. I want to be friends with you (28, dad, for reference hahaha) you just seem so chill and funny. Two. I find it so silly to create a guide for a series all about figuring things out and learning, I understand it. Just seems a little silly. Fantastic video friend
first time i did the game when i got to the nameless king my friend was like : bro took me 3 day to beat him you wont do it before that. took me 3h to beat ( i play strengh build soooo claymore style ) he then reveal to me he never beaten it and was so piss that i did it that he redid the whole game to beat him. priceless Ds moment.
Hahaha, I had a similar thing happen in this video for Soul Of Cinder. I went in with the HUD turned off to get some cinematic shit, just as extra fluff, and I ended up getting to phase 2 and thought “well fuck it, I might as well try to beat him” and did! The final scene of this video was entirely hudless
DS3 was the first one that I really *got*. I played DS1 when it came out, but couldn’t get passed O&S for literal years, but something about 3 just made it click
Wait.. you can go ahead and fight the dancer of boreal valley that early in the game? I had no idea. I never fought them until you end up back in that area much later in the game.
I remember playing on Xbox when it came out and remember Horace being there, but I am not sure if there’s maybe something you can do that makes him not spawn. I would assume not since that’s the first encounter, but I’m honestly not sure!
I think most, if not all, areas can still be accessed at any time! The only thing you're probably going to miss out on is some NPC questlines, which you can always just do in NG+ if you really want to see them. I'd say if you've already beaten Abyss Watchers, stick with your current save
22:33 heck man, I didn't come into this video for PTSD =( I think it took sizable grind split over two or three days to be done. Even farming Lothric knights was mind numbing but felt way quicker. I feel like Sekiro went the same flawed trope, where publishers thought "well, we need trophies" and decided to put whole skill tree as one. Thankfully ER is ez.
@@AquaSloth TBH, I just farmed hidden skill for Splitstaff in Nioh 2 and I kid you not, it dropped precisely on 69th boss defeat, which for my skill level/setup took hours. Sometimes one needs to stop and ask oneself, is the grind still worth it :D
Its a meme but sometimes a try fell to a powered up grab attack and leveling up local vigor did actually started to prevent that part, otherwise I'd definitely went mad xD
Haha, I also noticed that being weird and the only logical reason I can think of is maybe to have it be a surprise to the player to see Firelink again..? But even that is fucking dumb, so who knows!
I think I just did invading in the area after Pontiff for everything I could, but the Souvenirs just happened to be the last ones I did, so I will forever hate them. I honestly don’t remember the shackles being that bad!

I agree as far as the gameplay stuff. Almost every boss is up to move memorization and learning and getting better. The guide are great for items and maps!
I’m incredibly disappointed so far coming from Elden ring, only done like 3 or four bosses. And they the tutorial one is the best so far which is not good
Oh man, that's such a bummer to hear! I think 3 has the best gameplay of the Dark Souls games and has easily some of my favorite bosses. I will say, it's a LOT more on the rails and "point A to point B" in the beginning, but it does open up a bit more after around the Abyss Watchers. If you've done 4 bosses, I'm guessing your at or around the Cathedral of the Deep/Farron Keep, and all I can say it just keep pushing through it and I think you'll come to enjoy it. The midway/second half of the game is where it shines for me at least.
@@AquaSloth yea I did abyss watchers earlier and I’m fighting demon king right now I’m on like 4 or 5 trys and it took me about that for abyss watchers too it’s refreshing to be struggling a little but man the gameplay is so choppy compared to ER but that was to be expected, which should I try after 3? Wait PRIMA?? The only official guide to every FromSoft game that I was aware of was FuturePress you want to talk about quality guide books OMG best guide books ever in terms of maps mechanical depth and behind the scenes history of the game and artbook stuff. I wonder how their books would compare to Prima (futurepress is better but I would be interested in the differences)
Prima only did Dark Souls 3, actually! From what I can tell, FuturePress did Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, and Elden Ring (not sure about BB and Sekiro), but Prima got to do DS3. My DS1 and Elden Ring videos cover FuturePress’s guides! They’re all honestly pretty good quality and the artwork rocks. I think the DS1 guide falls a bit short, but to be fair, that’s a pretty hefty task to map out Dark Souls before all the stuff came out online about it.
@@AquaSloth FuturePress has done BB (technically 3 of them main game, DLC only, and a combined book of both) they have also done Sekiro and even Armored Core 6 and the Dark Souls Remaster. Oh shit, that’s weird they didn’t make one for Demon Souls! I’m not sure if anyone did tbh. I haven’t seen one in my search, but I will admit, I’ve never looked for it specifically
i personally think the 7 gold coins are by far the best burial gift you can take, because in the main game those are insanely rare and they can help you to get an early mimic head, or maybe even a great axe or whatever your into, the mimic head will instantly be worth it for more boss souls. fire gem is also decent, white branch could be good if you wanna rush through for some reason (it will make it so the giant doesnt throw spears at you supposedly, i have never tried it tho, so basically it skips a bit of content), the large soul is good for early extra level ups, black firebombs and lifering are also decent, everything else is not worth it i think.
It says fire gem just for the starting gift, but only the Deep Battle Axe for Vordt. As for fire bombs, yeah I’m not sure. Maybe just because they’re common..?
@AquaSloth I bought it years ago when the game first came out along with the collectors edition, didn't spend no $200 on it though haha. That is an insane mark up.

I just hate the curse shit that they do with their lanterns
Deep axe doing dark damage probably is reffering to the abyss... that its a weapon touched by the deepest pits of darkness hence the title "Deep" and doing dark damage
That does check out!
Instructions unclear. Attacked Yuria of Londor on sight & now I’m no longer welcome in Firelink shrine
I don't think Loretta was Gray Rats mom but just an older woman who was kind to him. Just my head cannon.
Aye, that’s fair! I think in his dialogue, he does just refer to her as “an old woman”, so the mother thing is totally speculation
@@AquaSloth maybe the dialogue is why I see her that way. It's been a few years since I've played 3 so I don't know.
Brother, seeing that this video was uploaded was the most pleasant thing that happened to me all day. And also, you're not the only one that called him "Index Gundyr" 😂
Hey thank you man! I think I’ve seen like 3 other comments also admitting to calling him Index, so we are not alone! Appreciate the kind words.
I’ve literally been saying that for YEARS!!! None of my friends corrected me, they call him that too
Wait his name is not index playing for years how didn't I noticed that 😱
It’s “Iu”, not “In”! I think I said Index for literally like 5 years until someone pointed it out on stream lmao
@@AquaSloth used to watch fighting cowboy's walk through he and a lot other speed runners called is index maybe that's a reason I didn't pay attention you in counter him only ones 😕
Just found your channel today. Immaculate vibes, Easy sub👍
Thank you dude! Happy to have you aboard. Hope to see ya around the channel!

Doing the LORDS work
i absolutely love darks souls and anyone who keeps the franchise going!!! amazing video!!
Thank you! I will do what I can to spread the good word!
Your vibe is absolutely chill, thanks so much for putting these out!
Hey thank you for watching it! Glad you enjoyed the vibe and really appreciate the nice words :)
the Deep Axe does Dark dmg because you have to be a very deep person to understand how dark my soul is as a sigma male chad, once struck, you get to feel only 0.1% of my pain which for mere mortals is unbearable (it adds 42 dmg per swing).
I am absolutely soaked right now, wowzers. He so strong 😩
I actually just finished playing Bloodborne for the first time and replaying Elden Ring last month cause the wait for Elden Ring DLC is driving me crazy. Was looking to play DS3 next since the slower, more punishing designs of 1 and 2 don't interest me. Great video!
Thank you dude! I tried and failed to play Bloodborne, but really want to give it a fair shot since I have literally only heard people sing it’s praise. I am stoked for the Elden Ring DLC, and am right there with you on the wait. Glad you enjoyed it!
20 seconds in and I already know this man is a part of the souls community 😂
It’s great to be here :,)
@@AquaSlothman the nameless king felt like the biggest fan service for someone that's been a sunbro since solaire helped a homie out
The first sunlight warrior was a fuckin menace
17:38 i was playing through ds3 for the first time recently first ‘real’ souls experience and also first tried him but got absolutely murdered by the dancer which i fought first tho
Prima guide too! Old schooool. And I am right there with you - no skipping, only killing.
Monkey brain says “here now. Fight now”
What a terrible terrible guide. No semblance of fun or discovery
It’s honestly not *that* bad, but I can’t really say that it’s perfect
@@AquaSloth it missed so many side quests, so many NPCs, lore elements and got vital info wrong haha there’s so many better guides simply by googling or on Reddit
Great video though!
13:00 Me who did that through the whole game: 🤭
I made it Aldrich and upgraded my PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11. My progress was lost (I didn’t know DS3 didn’t support cloud-saves).
I’m not in the mood to start over.
FUCK god, that sucks. I am so sorry for your loss :(
Very happy this showed up in my recommended. Dropped a sub after I heard the "you gotta know when to hold em" line. Looking forward to future content
I remember them being the reason I ended my first like 3 characters, but I can usually first or second try them every time
Hey man its nice to see you, I liked your other dark soul videos
Thanks dude! I am stoked to hear you enjoyed the other vids, and hope to see ya around in future ones. Glad you're here!

I don't think I've ever subscribed so fast to a channel before
Appreciate that, champ
@@AquaSloth unfortunately, you probably will.
I think at 20:00 a plural was used to indicate the lower room. There was a disconnected lower area in the same building with a bunch of those guys, but I doubt the guide covers the fact throwing knives knock them down when they try standing.
It covers the first floor of that building, but yeah I had no idea that throwing knives knocked them down! This is the first that I am hearing of this
But did you know that, if you had the greatwood breaking the floor before meeting hodrick, you can still join the mound makers covenant if you complete sirris' questline.
Nah that's Index Gundyr, the game is wrong, i don't care what it says
I have fought the pontiff only once and got him on my first try ever . I had only half of my Estus remaining and just wanted to take a look what I have to fight , but my trusty great sword just ended him in one try
Aye, good shit! Yeah I don’t know, sometimes he’s super hard, and other times I can beat him no problem. It’s very weird!
I done the stray demon quest for sigward but he isn't in the well outside the church am I missing smth
Hmm… I want to say you have to have met Patches back in Firelink, but I could be wrong! Try buying the tower key from the old lady at the shine, then go up the tower and you will meet Patches
@@AquaSloth done that and I just met patches there so I'll try now and I'll update U ina min
Didn't work
Little late to the party lol but the whole time watching im like please tell me hes doing the nameless king my favorite fromsoft boss :)
Of course! Sadly didn't get to do DLC, but only because the guide came out prior to it being announced and they never released another book
Wait yeah, that’s a good point. I guess maybe just because it’s less direct..? I’m not totally sure!
Me after beating all souls games thousents of times watching a ds 3 tutorial:
Ohh, i dint know that😮.
12 dollars...well...im a little pissy lmao same but not really if you love it
2:56 I just call him Durex Gundyr
Damn, and I thought I was crazy for saying Index lmao
@@AquaSloth well, it could happen to anyone, especially to someone like me, because I'm not an english speaker.
So, "Durex Gundyr", "Sister Frieza", "Soul of tinder", "Borat of Boreal Valley", etc. could happen to me anytime, lol
Broooo Borat Of The Boreal Valley 😩
First off. I want to be friends with you (28, dad, for reference hahaha) you just seem so chill and funny. Two. I find it so silly to create a guide for a series all about figuring things out and learning, I understand it. Just seems a little silly. Fantastic video friend
Hey thanks man! If you wanna shoot the breeze and/or play some games, you can join the discord and hang out with all of us over there!
first time i did the game when i got to the nameless king my friend was like : bro took me 3 day to beat him you wont do it before that.
took me 3h to beat ( i play strengh build soooo claymore style )
he then reveal to me he never beaten it and was so piss that i did it that he redid the whole game to beat him.
priceless Ds moment.
Storm ruler is from demon souls
I feel like someone else commented this a while ago, but I already forgot so this is new information to me. Didn’t know that!
2:35 is that a reference for the first wanted poster of sanji from one piece? noway
Haha, it is not actually. Though after looking that up, I can absolutely see why you’d think that!
My first souls game was DS3 and my gosh I played through that game 10 times probably
Yep! If you attack Emma at any point, when she dies it will start the Dancer fight
I played before the dlc came out. But i swear astoria was the only npc when you first run into her. I have no idea who that dude is.
I remember playing on Xbox when it came out and remember Horace being there, but I am not sure if there’s maybe something you can do that makes him not spawn. I would assume not since that’s the first encounter, but I’m honestly not sure!
10:10 why was black knight censored? lmao youtube most be going wild with demonetization
Lol, nah it was a joke about FromSoft's name censoring for characters online
I got about halfway through typing "you mispronounced anal rodeo" and then you said it
Gg
LMAOO damn, wild timing!
so I just realized I missed about 50% of the game so far and I'm considering deleting my save and starting over lol
I think most, if not all, areas can still be accessed at any time! The only thing you're probably going to miss out on is some NPC questlines, which you can always just do in NG+ if you really want to see them. I'd say if you've already beaten Abyss Watchers, stick with your current save
@@AquaSloth fair enough, sounds like a good plan!
I remember thinking that completing Dark Souls was crazy, but after doing it, it’s not nearly as bad as I thought!
Did these mofo's just call their guide the official guide and then refer to firelink shrine as the ashen shrine? :P
Haha, I also noticed that being weird and the only logical reason I can think of is maybe to have it be a surprise to the player to see Firelink again..? But even that is fucking dumb, so who knows!
Babe wake up, new Aqua Sloth is out
We BACK baby!
22:45 I know. And when it comes to farming Vertebrae Shackles it gets even worse. I'll never see Warmth in my pyromancies arsenal...😭😭😭
I think I just did invading in the area after Pontiff for everything I could, but the Souvenirs just happened to be the last ones I did, so I will forever hate them. I honestly don’t remember the shackles being that bad!
@@AquaSloth Vertebrae Shackles are supposed to drop from Carthus skeletons, the big, sword-wielding ones. Too bad that their drop rate for Shackles is extremely low, according to DS3 Fextralife wiki, like, lower than 1% or something like that....
120 vieuws for such a good high cuality aqua sloth video is the biggest shame in yt history
Haha, it's funny because I was just thinking "holy fuck, 120 view in an hour is insane". But thank you! This is for sure my favorite of the three Intended videos I've done.
Guides like these books are pointless , you learn from your mistakes , grow and genuinely git gud
Want to play them all except demon souls, and sekiro doesn’t look that appealing to me either but I might try it, also wanna try lies of P
I play dark souls games at 2 hits of hp from basically every boss
So a boss 2 shotting me is nothing new... aldrich was rather easy
Dog I be PUMPIN that Vitality to the moon
@@AquaSloth i put it mostly on offensive stats, I like to kill things fast 💀
Now looking at their site real fast so I could be mistaken but I think you are correct that they don't have a stand alone Dark Souls 3 guide however they do have a Dark Souls Trilogy guide which includes all three games. And while they have played Demon's Souls during covid they have not made a guide for it
Oh shit, that’s weird they didn’t make one for Demon Souls! I’m not sure if anyone did tbh. I haven’t seen one in my search, but I will admit, I’ve never looked for it specifically
I call bull to the fair part the game randomly spun me around 180 to be backstabbed
Haha, yeeeeah the backstabs specifically can get a little weird. Online in a whole other beast in and of itself
i personally think the 7 gold coins are by far the best burial gift you can take, because in the main game those are insanely rare and they can help you to get an early mimic head, or maybe even a great axe or whatever your into, the mimic head will instantly be worth it for more boss souls. fire gem is also decent, white branch could be good if you wanna rush through for some reason (it will make it so the giant doesnt throw spears at you supposedly, i have never tried it tho, so basically it skips a bit of content), the large soul is good for early extra level ups, black firebombs and lifering are also decent, everything else is not worth it i think.
I almost always got Life Ring, but honestly, Fire Gem was pretty OP at the start!
Why is fire gem the go to when it says to get deep axe.
And when has fire bombs been a bad choice lol
It says fire gem just for the starting gift, but only the Deep Battle Axe for Vordt. As for fire bombs, yeah I’m not sure. Maybe just because they’re common..?
Don’t feel bad, I’ve been calling him “Index” this entire time too 😂
You’re not alone!
I bought the collectors edition of the hard back strategy guide that came in a pretty nifty box and with an estus flask.
I had to resist getting one when I bought mine because they were like $200 😭 That’s sick though! I didn’t know it came with the estus flask
@AquaSloth I bought it years ago when the game first came out along with the collectors edition, didn't spend no $200 on it though haha. That is an insane mark up.
2:59... today, I learned his name was not INDEX. Fml.
Dude it’s gotten so many people 😭😭
Dude I missed half the video because I was so focused on ID’ing the background music choices. Someone else remembers Bomberman Hero!
Dammit, I was worried about that! I was trying to channel my inner ymfah and pick some boppers. Hope they weren’t too distracting lol
I use to pronounce Ludex like it's an i.

Someone else said the same thing a while ago! I could see the capital I getting confused for an L
I knew I wasn't the only person to call it Undead Bones Hard xD
I think I stole that from ymfah!
Now play dark souls 1,2 and 3 the way the founding fathers intended
Aaahh, the old Estus tea party. The rise of the Easterners, the fall of the Irithyllians. It will be glorious.

Hey Aqua Sloth, did you go to a shake shack in Louisiana a few nights ago lol
Hey man, I sure did not (though I wish I did). What did they order?
Honestly only brain dead streamers fall for the Dancer too early in the game. Good video
No liiiiterally. Idk how you accidentally kill Emma, then stand there long enough for the cutscene to play. You gotta know what’s coming
I said index to bro. I still call it that even though I know its wrong.
So many people have come out and said the same thing, so I am at least glad that we're not alone!
Those vids are so good dude, before those all the information was scattered into individual videos im so grateful for this, im doing a bloodborne run rn with your vid its a blast thank you so much for those!!
Hey you’re welcome! I don’t know how helpful the DS3 guide video will be for Bloodborne, but whatever works!
am i the only one SO bugged by the way he holds his mic? great video btw
I can confidently say that no, you’re not the only one because it also bugged me when I was editing. I don’t even remember why I did it, but I sure did put my pinky behind the mic to balance it a lot lmaooo
I would argue if you have played DS3 a lot and like to run like Barry Sanders and dodge attacks that could come from almost 360 degrees, it's a skill in its own right
