Their first concert, Emily's debut on stage. They kept the secret pretty well. Opening song in this live stream concert, it lasted about an hour. The rest were older songs.
The crowd were all Linkin Park Underground members, they weren't told anything, just show up at a certain spot. Then they took them by bus to this stage. There are several interviews that go into the story on how this came about. Check out the one on LP's channel (Linkin Park: The Emptiness Machine, New Album & Return to Music with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe), it is close to an hour sit-down.

I like your sentiments, I feel the same way. Emily was a guitarist when she heard Chester and was like I want to sing just like that. So she's actually singing for the person that inspired her in the first place. I can't imagine how difficult that is on top of everything else including being a female and having to put up with the misogynistic BS. I feel that Chester would be pleased with her, she's not a copy cat and brings some of her style. It's still LP and her vocals blend perfectly.

Emily Armstrong also did a music video with Awolnation's song "Jump Sit Stand March". You should check it out. It's a cool song.

Mike (guy that sang) and Emily had worked together in 2019 but only in late 2023 was when they actually did Linkin Park stuff and they had been working with the new drummer Colin Brittan too. From interviews they were writing songs and music when the band asked her to be the lead vocalist so she didn't get the time to process until after and I think she is still trying to process it. Check out the version of 'My December' they put out with her it is beautiful. Awesome video you are so fun to watch too by the way

This performance was the first time they played live together with Emily. There were definite nerves and emotions at play. When you see more recent footage of them playing live (like the Sao Paulo concert) they are even better and a lot more relaxed. As an aside, I would highly recommend watching the Zane Lowe interview with the band to get more insight on how everything came about. Heres the link: th-cam.com/video/otxt-VTYgmU/w-d-xo.html

People are coming around and she is getting more love then hate. I love her voice and I think she is a perfect fit for the band.

Exactly, the same thing i was saying to all of Emily's hater's, who the hell are they to tell them what they should do with their band?! 😅 I'm glad that you agree with me about this whole situation, honestly i love Emily Armstrong even more than i loved Chester in the past, and that is telling you someone for who Chester was 10 years ago one of two biggest idols...🙂

Totally agree with you there, I trust the band with this decision.
I can't even imagine the pressure of that moment where she steps on that stage, I have so much respect for her!
Tip: Papercut and Bleed It Out of this same stream are also amazing!

When they announced she was the new singer it led me to checking out Dead Sara to see how she was as a singer. Now there are several Dead Sara songs on my play lists. Ironically her leaving Dead Sara may have led to the band becoming more famous than they ever were in the past.

She hasn't left (confirm by their official twitter account). She's going to do both. Dead Sara will make a comeback this year and Emily could devote her time to the group next year after the 2025 tour.

They know each other since 2019 and did some sessions and stuff together. Mike did a lot of sessions with various artists since then. And somehow they kept inviting her back over and over again. They recorded songs and didnt know what they want to do with it. They had an album before they even knew if this would be Linkin Park again or something different. And Joe (the DJ) one day came to Mike and said "Hey, is it just me or is this working? This feels right!" and the rest is history 🙂 there are some interviews on youtube if you wanna know the details...

Agreed. I feel that this is one of the most perfect examples of a band going into version 2.0.

If you want to check out Emily on older LP material, I suggest Papercut - for the way her voice works so well with Mike's - and the very beautiful reworking of My December.

Just for info, Dead Sara have 178 times less monthly Spotify listeners and 236 times less TH-cam subscribers than Linkin Park. The scale jump is crazy indeed, but they did not select Emily from a casting, it was a 2-3 years natural process of common creativity before the final decision. So they have spent hundreds (if not thousands) of hours with her so we really know nothing!
Emily mastered 11 of the 13 old songs in this first live show but the best ones probably were "What I've Done" and "In The End". "Papercut" also received a nice refresh - awesome harmonies with Mike's voice. 🙂

Sure. Click. Oh shit. - I fell of my chair hahahahah.
Btw, I was never huge LP fan, Chester's painful and depressed energy never fit me, but I loved their music, cause IMO, LP is all of them, not just a singer. Until I heard Emily and watched this stream back in September. Since then, LP became my favorite band, her energy, appearance and voice are all over my brain so I can not listen to anything else with a little time I can afford for music. Also I find boring listening to old songs without her.
Having said that, I watched all their interviews and live shows, fun fact, Mike was actually working with her and Colin some random projects and he felt something in her voice that he went online and listened to some dead sara songa, his brain actually accepted her as fit for LP sound and he suggested other guys to listen to those songs so they organically recorded some LP songs with her and they all agreed that's it. She wasn't hesitant to accept since LP was her row model band back from sweet 16. Also economy reasons naturally, she did not hide that in an interview. She devoted her all life to being in a band not recognized for her talents, she would be mad to reject this opportunity. Thank God she pulled it off and fit perfectly.

If you want to see how tight the band is, not sure why you chose to watch their first live performance instead of one that's a few months in when the stage performances have solidified.

doesn't matter, even that first live stream with her balls probably in her guts she killed it, band too. Yes she had 1 glitch in catalyst but hey...
