Thank-you! These two terms had been confusing me for so long!

Awesome to hear that it helped!

Thanks sir. However I have a doubt. What is the difference between angular unconformity and overstep?

On a geological map, is it then only possible to observe overstep without drawing a cross-section?

    is overstep similar to overlap?

    • @ashishmahanta7004

sorry......I meant to say offlap , not overlap

Both overstep and offlap are terms you'll see used when talking about sequences of deposition and regression in stratigraphy. And indeed, both can occur together, however, overstep refers specifically to the angle of dip with respect to underlying layers, while offlap (and its counterpart, onlap, which is just another word for overlap) is more general and simply refers to the areas of overlap between strata of different ages.

So angle of dip is not included for offlap?

Correct. Consider offlap to be the simply opposite of overlap, which, as I cover in the video, is not directly related to the dip angle.
