The dev is a legit HOI4 player, so the dev is most likely took some inspirations from HOI4. Unlike any other map games i've played on mobile, AOH2 is what i enjoyed the most. The map is accurate and not some weird hexagon tiles or balkanizing countries for no reason. Although the mechanics are far more different than HOI4
Age of history 2 is even simpler and has more scenarios than ww2 like modern, Victorian era, etc. It cost 5 bucks and plus you can go spectator mode and make your own custom scenarios
