This is a time machine for me. Takes me back to walking around Moseley and Kings Heath in the summer of 1980 and it seemed to be coming from every window, great times at the Fighting Cocks, lying in the parks hammered on woodpecker, cycling everywhere, and always sunny, and the girls, the girls....
I hope he is in heavan still playing the saxophone for god. He was so damn good and its a lost now that he is gone. R.I.P Brain Travers best saxophonist who has ever lived. I am glad and blessed to be able to hear him whit ub40.
RIP Brian Travers, this is your song - and what a song! You certainly left your mark on this world. Sincere condolences to Brian's family, bandmates and friends. UTV.
Met him twice, spoke to him on messenger, such a wonderful humble human being. Brian was the real deal. No hairs or graces. He was a working class man from Smethwick West Midlands. Not too far from where I grew up.. Ub40 forever, for those whom know and understand the music, the times, regional predujice. Race, colour creed. These guys made magic happen, and if your like me, I'll love ub until my dying day.
The hardship we went through in the 80/90s in the UK lead to some proper music 💯 UK Regae and garage, acid and rave. Best times of my life. Listening to this makes me want to be skint and living again😂 1 in 10 again ❤
Absolutely. Fab song, fab music and the lyrics are still as relevant today as they were when it was first released! And as Kate said, so haunting, added to I think by the gravity of the lyrics!
What an awesome band to see live. RIP Brian Travers , you will be forever missed by your bandmates, family & friends. Life's too short to spend it squabbling. UB40 please settle your differences & play again. Love from Canada.
Not so much a shame regarding the covers because UB40 wouldn't have became the band they were without the covers, let's not forget that the band are roughly made up of around 80% of non black fellas & to cover such iconic music like Ska & Rocksteady was unheard of unless of course if it wasn't for Twotone.
I agree. This and One in Ten offered so much promise...then it was covers all the way. Brian was a lovely bloke by all accounts...sad day. 62 is young.
This was my late Fathers tribute song in the middle of his funeral, while looking at at 25 pictures. It was so wonderful thank you UB40 he was a huge reggae fan from the 80's - 2023. I cant stop listening to it.
Easily their best song!!! I like all their music, but this one is the one that really stands out to me. The whole track and yeah, that sax is killing it!!!!!
RIP Brian Travers, been a fan from the start. It was Brian’s sax that gave the band their unique sound and what drew me to them. So many great tunes, a very sad loss to the world. Thanks for the memories Brian.
This song was their breakthrough in Holland. I just went to high school, 12 years old. Imidiatly a big fan, bought a lot of music and dvd's all these years. Saw them on stage, heard them playing and singing. (Together as UB40) Still am a big fan today as a (newly) grandma lol. My grandson and future granddaughter (over 18 weeks she will be born) will both grow up with UB40 like my son did, my nephew and neeces did because of me. WE love UB40 in this family. Also my mother did get the UB40 virus because of us lol. For generations. Timeless music = regae music. (Thank you Robert Nesta Marley, your legacy, we love you too)
Think I was 10 or so when this was released. Well into my 50s now and loved this for 40 years or more. If I can do it, I’ll love it for another 40 years!
R.I.P Brian 🎷 & Astro 🙏 one of my fave bands from childhood in the 80s, Brian's sax & Ali's superb voice instantly recognisable whenever UB40 music is played on radio ❤ Fab era for music 👍
Ok who else is addicted to this song?? I simply have to watch it at least twice a day, never really thought about what the lyrics were (in some places) until i looked them up. I just love the groove, all the extra instruments contributing to a masterpiece that never gets old. Plus i love seeing them all looking younger, Ali is unrecognisable! He didnt yet have his "iconic voice" , that cant be copied its unique. Plus watching them dance is seeing them in their element early on forming.
Totally agree with you !!! An amazing song, and for me this and maybe The Earth dies screaming are in my top three favourite UB40 songs. Happy days growing up with this classic , and others from the Brummie lads !!!
One of my favorite music of UB40. R.I.P. Brian Travers🙏 and R.I.P. Astro - Terence Wilson 🙏. Thank you both for your excellent music legacy. You will always remembered forever. 🙏💕
I survived. Not only that but I still love UB40 😎 What a waste of life that was you horrible abusers. What a waste of everyone's lives.... I will live the rest of my life in joy and being of service to other people. Just like I always said I would..... 🙏🙏🙏😎

I love this favourite UB40 song so much. A timeless classic imo. Still listening to it in 2021 😀 Oh to be back in the 80s once again to relive all these memorable songs. Great music back then! 😄
Alll-time classic, epic sax line. Remember meeting UB40 as a kid, and Brian was the most welcoming and funny one. Sad loss. R.I.P. Brian, thank you for the music .
Another brilliant song that symbolises everything that was wrong with this country in the 80's. It's not just a song , it has meaning and probably reminds you something from that era. Unfortunately we've gone full circle and it's all happening again.

For me, this is the best song UB40 did. Original. Great saxophone; great lyrics and brilliant reggae!
L' album "sign off" est fabuleux.
La scène reggae anglaise de cette période était hyper riche (steel pulse, aswad, culture, gladiators...).
multiculti nonsense🤨
Cela me rappel Mes potes de l'armée ce morceau me rappel nos sauts en parachute dans le vide les belles années 80 une époque révolue a jamais.
Totally agree with you :D

Reggae as it should be: critical lyrics about societal abuses, catchy music and the pulsing bas lines. Magic
40 odd years later and Signing Off is still one of the greatest albums of all time. Absolute masterpiece.
