I'm loving the simplicity of how you fish. No half a tackle shop set up on the bank and using trusty 80s gear. Keep them coming mate. Btw it's funny as a scot I still pronounce River Stour as River Stoor.

It's a fair walk to the river so I have to carry everything. When I was younger I could manage a lot more but need to shed the excess nowadays, especially as I need to carry the camera gear.
Although I grew up in Dorset I tend to say the river names as I think fit. I was always convinced Frome rhymed with 'home' whereas the local pronounciation is 'Froom', and similar with Stour which I rhyme with hour but suspect should be more like 'stir'. One surprise name I had was reading Witham in the angling paper and thinking it was Wit-ham and my geography teacher telling me it was WiTHam.

As a youngster I had a very slow start with perch. I didn't fish the Stour until I was 16 where I did catch perch but none in my local waters, my first one was when I was 13 from the Thames but 3 years before the next ones. Perch disease was taking its toll on the Thames and it was quite a few years ( early 80s) before they returned in numbers, In time my local waters gained perch.

I use Anchor Double Cut. I try to re-use shot so that it softens a bit.

I probably use Drennan and Kamasan hooks more than most others but do use Preston, Tubertini, Mustad and Gamakatsu amongst others. For roach and dace I prefer fairly fine wire hooks and increasingly use barbless hooks.
