Izzy your tuthings and the bats swimming have a half bag cement ready as you lay and just spread thin neat dry cement onto brick prior to laying bed to each course and your reveal will stay sturdy Can't believe all the alterations hope you allowed 25% on top of time and cost plus Malcs in Perth WA ♥️ still keep a eye on you both 😊
It's crazy Adam! And there were so many Alterations while I was building it too😅😅 ah well, all in a day's work I guess😂 new video out today at some point 😊
Thanks very much mate! That's what it's all about at the end of the day really,no point getting upset like some people would 😂 Hope your well mate! New video out today at some point 😊
Resin every time for patio mate. Yes its more expensive than a muck joint but its quicker and you can do it in the rain! Some changes goin on there with the mansion build! Just hate it when customer says:-" can you just do this"!
When i started sketching out jobs someone once said to me while it's just in pencil it's not costing anything... Technically there's a time element cost but his point was if you draw say 3 options and you iron out all these things like light into rooms and space for very specifically sized TV's it's still a lot cheaper and easier than building a place then altering it all again afterwards. I've always found though that some clients cannot picture anything until it's physical built 🤦🏻♂️ Fantastic attitude as always Izzy!! 💪🏻
You couldn't be more right there mate! Definitely hard to picture when things keep changing and new ideas keep popping up😂 thanks for the support mate, new video out today for you mate! Hope you and the family are all well 😊
With the cavity-wall being bridged with insulation (insulation touching the outer walls), moisture will transmit from the damp outer wall through the bridging insulation to the inner wall . Cavity walls that already built up can NOT have cavity wall insulation added. Cavity wall insulation can only be installed from the start of construction of the cavity walls and there must be a LARGE air space gap in-between the face of the cavity-wall insulation batts(panels) and the OUTER WALL inside the cavity ; this ALSO includes an air space gap in-between the face of the cavity-wall insulation batts and the cavity wall-tie drip-point, which must point downwards in the centre of the cavity. Cavity wall-ties are laid with a slight downwards slope across the LEVEL mortar joints from the inner to the outer walls. Ask N.V.Q. City & Guilds BRICKWORK teachers for PROOF of this
Loving the vid, as always. As a DIY renovator / project manager/ general donkey it’s great to get an insight. Your style is very entertaining and engaging. A true professional. 👏
I hate them jobs but if you are getting paid for it fair enough, but it does mess you up if you are booked up for time. Just stand a piece of 4x2 up the reveal as a profile and lay to that, doing it freehand it will just sink. Sand and Cement for that paving dont use Resin its rubbish, you could use GFTK or Flowpoint which is far superior but they might not like the cost.
As you say, Izzy, the client has to be happy with what he wants! Heartbreaking, having to redo, but as usual, fantastic work on the alterations. Your joinery skills were impressive also! Drew doing some fine work as well! Great work lads!
That's what it's all about really Alan!😊 Thanks for the support. Always hard to make alterations and make them blend perfectly, but we didn't do too bad😊 new video out later on hopefully
It is interesting to see how you are building the walls! I live in Ukraine, here we use blocks from aerated concrete for 50-75% of new private houses. With proper thickness of the block, there is no need for insulation. Result is cheaper comparing to brick walls.
Really starting to appreciate your talent kidder , your ability to talk layman will fetch a new style of kids in our trade plus bein honest around a mistake an highlighting they are OK to make. Your enthusiasm is spot on an it works. Keep it up pal .
Were on job at minute building footings for 8 mansions and one of the plots footing was built and drainage all done etc and coz the guy wants to change lay-out a little bit its all getting knocked down and starting again
Seeing how Drew is coming along ,I,d be inclined get another hoddy with the proviso that if he ever struggled(the new hoddy).Drew would drop in alongside the new man to help out.
Thank you for all the insights on the details of bricklaying! Keep up the good work with your videos you are doing great. Here in the Netherlands we always have a 20 to 40 mil gap of air between the outer brickwork and the isolation to provent water go to the isolation/inner wall. In most of your videos i see the isolation placed in between the inner and outer wall. What specific reason is there for not using a air gap? Im curious mate! 👌
Can you advise how you colour match new mortar to old weathered mortar. I have an external doorway to brick up. No one seems able to answer the question. Cheers.
Great video! With alterations 2 and 3 be careful to include any dot and dab walls and decorative end panels for your kitchen wall unit measurements! If it's a tight kitchen that could cause issues 👍
Thanks very much mate, always try hard on these jobs, especially ones such as this, cos it's just so big and it's got my name all over it💪 new video out later on today 😊

@IzzytheBricky hi m8 quick question again lol Had concrete put in Friday to fill footings in. Had a bit of rain over the night. Saturday morning bricky started. But pump broke to pump water out. Little concerned that Bricky started and layed 7N blocks in 4,5cm of water would this be ok? Or a no no. Thank you m8
@IzzytheBricky cheers m8. I'm having a nightmare lol doesn't help that I got OCD. To be fair to builder he pumped what he could out. And he's also just reassured me everything ok. He's making good progress. Thanks for prompt reply. I appreciate it m8. Kind regards R
Oh my, that's a lot of changes. didn't the client and architect communicate before the build started? BTW, I'm curious as to what Compo mix you are using? I'm actually a joiner, stumbled upon your channel - am thoroughly enjoying it and learning a lot!
Thanks Skiathos! The editing is probably the hardest part... making it all flow and work well for you guys 😂 have a brilliant week brother! Just finished up editing my new video, should be ready for you in an hour to watch 😊
Think I asked this before: why are the walls not tied together with metal ties? Aha, now I can see the steel lintel used in the door! Here it would be reinforced concrete beam. Interesting water drainage device, haven't seen that before.
client should of looked at the plans before the job was finished and spent more time looking at the lay out of the windows and walls is the color off the bricks ok for them 🤣 fab work lads and videos keep it coming cheers

Hi mate, just make a few batches of muck. Different sands, different ratios and compare them to the old 😊
Resin for me. Costs a lot more but there's less chance of mess and it resists weeds etc better in the future as it's flexible.
Cheers mate! Appreciate that
