The Monster of Coca Cola Ledge in North Adams, Massachusetts

  • In North Adams, Massachusetts, there's a cliff-face that overlooks the town. It's called Coca Cola Ledge, because decades ago the Coca Cola Company painted a large logo on the cliff as a billboard. The cliff is easily accessible from either side, and the top is said to be home to a monster -- a Bigfoot-type creature who lurks up there to scare away anyone who gets to close.

Nobody has really busted that out since the late 80s ever since North Adams state (refuse to call it mcla) made it clear anyone caught scaling (they used to paint the Greek letters for the frats there)

My uncle Kyle told me a version of the Coke Ledge monster when I was a kid, but he described it as more of a werewolf type man-beast that would wander around in tattered clothes and holler from the ledge late at night

Clearly from the comments it is not a popular or well-circulated legend in North Adams. However, there is a story in the North Adams Transcript as far back as 1965 that references 20 teens camping out there for a monster hunt, so there was some legend at one point, however small

I was born and raised there. Mid 60s I was 11 and got my dumb ass trapped half way down the ledge. Fire department had to rope me down the face of the ledge.
This is the first I’ve heard of this monster.
Now live on a farm in central Illinois and miss home.

I've never heard of this "Monster". The Cliff is actually named Witt's Ledge and the Cola-Cola sign was painted on it for the first time in 1915 much to the horror of the citizens of North Adams.

I grew up as a kid there and it was not painted by the company, no legend about any monster existed! The only true fact about the ledge is that kids like me partied there and a few accidental deaths occurred by falling off the ledge... Look into the Masonic Temple that was a definite sighting for spirits. I as well can confess to the strange appearances that happened during my childhood growing up on Church Street and playing ball there with my childhood friends...

There's definitely something in the woods of North Adams especially where they meet Vermont's forests. When I was a kid in the 70's and 80's there were several times I am sure I was being shadowed by something walking the trails behind the school and the state park. although I never felt threatened so perhaps it was something positive. I've always thought it was some type of Bigfoot type cryptid. Even think I saw it once when I was about 12

There is no legend of a monster on Coca-Cola Ledge and there was no Coca-Cola sign painted on there in the 1950s. The sign was back in the 1910s and was only there a few years.
