How To FIND Tako In Hawaii - WE Show You How

In this video we show you how to find tako (octopus) in Hawaii. Octopus is an important food source for local families. He'e is the Hawaiian name for octopus and tako is the Japanese name for it. Mostly used in tako poke but also eaten dried, boiled or fried. It's also expensive and hard to find in the stores. So being able to go out and find it yourself can save you a lot of money. Octopus need to be 1 pound to take. They only live about 1 year. They are short lived but extremely fast growing. You tend to find more during the winter months but can find them year round. They also make great bait for a variety fish. Fresh tako bait is a very popular bait used for shore casting. It will catch ulua, oio, moi, taape, moana, kumu and basically every other fish.
