- BMW took its place alongside the major movie studios with the production of The Hire short-film series on the internet, bringing together high-level talent from a number of diverse fields ─ a synergistic effort that crossed and pushed boundaries. Key producers included David Fincher, Ridley and Tony Scott. Other prominent directors that made up the dream team included John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee, Wong Kar-Wai, Guy Ritchie, Alejandro González Iñárritu, John Woo, Joe Carnahan.

I love the way Wong Kar Wai uses his "signature": waiting...pause.....focus...details...pause...done intelligently...it is the height of Hong kong cinematic arthouse! :) The resolutions/conclusions/refrains are always in the silence and not the words...nicely done!

I thought so. I didn't understand that either. Must be a contract thing.
When they shot the short it was only supposed to be for perspective BMW customers. What is the shorts got distribute it online and violating the terms of the contract. That’s why he’s not credited. That’s also why you can’t usually buy a hard copy of this particular short film.

This cut is not as good as the original cut with the original music track mix of Unicornio sung by Silvio Rodriguez.
BTW, of all of the BWM short films shot by all of the different directors with different plots and actors, this, by far, was the best. It shows why Wong is the master. His films always have such strong emotions associated with it.

"The BMW Films were originally intended to be webcast only. A promotional DVD was made for in-house circulation, and its ensuing popularity (and emergence on eBay) convinced parties involved to distribute the collection in hard copy. The original pressing did not include The Follow; the film was removed from the BMW Films website. Internet rumors attributed the cause to a contract dispute with Whitaker, who had only signed to do an online promotional film, and who exercised a contractual right to remove The Follow from wide circulation promotional DVDs for personal reasons."
