    I know what it is like having aa root canal done.I have gone through that a few time 🙂 BTW In your story you said " I went down to the specialist" but why you added the word "down" Couldn't I say the sentence without " down"?

      Yes! You can totally say that! Funny, I didn't even notice I said that. I live in the mountains and I have to go down (off the mountain) to go to the specialist! Wow! You are really great at noticing things!

    This story so much resonates in me. I had very bad toothache shortly after my relocation to Canada, this happened couple months ago. Luckily my company provided me with dental insurance, so that didn't have to pay out of my pocket. The great vocabulary you just shared would have been helpful for me if I had known it at that time.

      Relating to a story really helps us to learn a new language. I'm sorry to hear you had dental problems like me, but I am so glad to hear that you had insurance!

    Hi Tanya! I really love this way of teaching vocabulary. I'm an EFL teacher in China. I got tired of how teachers here taught vocabulary, which was basically demonstration and repetition and students don't really know how to use the word in real-world conversations, some teachers use flashcards or other meaning-making tools, but it is still pretty much contextualized and traditional. I wonder how to teach new words like this in my class, this storytelling method is definitely more effective.

    HI dear Tanya. Pains ccused by denture are unbereable. There is something worst which is that the infection without tratment could affect kidneys and even the hart. Fortunately everything went allright for you, i mean the dentist did what she had to do. Root canal are very common here in Argentina. I had some molars under this treatment. Once the specialist "kills" the nerve in the deepest of the hole, the alleviation comes. The rest of the process is similar. Kisses Tanya. Thanks for let us to refiew some forgotten words. I've never had root canal. I just had my wisdom teeth removed long ago. I know the feeling what the toothache like. That was my wisdom tooth. It just killed me in that few days. I went to the dentist and he told me I needed to get them removed. Since then I've never had toothache. Thank you Tanya!

    i did root canal years ago, and also had a new cap on it to protect the old tooth as it would become very weak or easily broken without pulp into it anymore. This reminds me that I should repair tooth as soon as early, otherwise it would be too late if the pulp was infection.

    I have never had a root canal done but I once had a dental work done that helped me a lot. I had a serious tooth decay and my tooth broke, so the dentist covered it with a dental crown. I was very grateful to the dentist because I couldn't munching anymore. In my country, if you don't have an health insurance, you need to pay out of pocket for dental works. The government don't cover the expenses at all, and the charges for dental works are extremely high.

    It was not exactly dental work on a tooth, but I experienced a sudden paralysis on half of my face,
    which required examinations by both a neurologist and a dentist at the urgent care.
    And surprisingly, it turned out the symptoms were to be taken care of by a dentist, as they were not caused by any troubles in the central nervous system. Thankfully, the paralysis is now gone and everything has turned back to normal, but it was quite a scary experience that I had thought would never happen to me.
    === memo ===
    * To start to feel sensitivity(pain) in (the back tooth) // sensitive to cold/hot // It's just a little (being) sensitive
    * didn't think much of it
    * to cause me a(any) problem --- ex) I didn't think much of it, as (it was) not really causing me any problems.
    to start to be bothering me ----- ex) The pain started to be really bothering me (on and off)
    * As time progressed,
    * need to go (&) have this looked at.
    * If it's getting bad enough, I can't get anything done.
    * a Referral for ~N : 진료의뢰
    * Nothing (I was taking over-the-counter) was helping / But taking this Antibiotic prescription started helping THE next day.
    * The pain was RADIATING from that area.
    The pain was immediately alleviated. (The pain went away, immediately.)
