Today we are looking at the Great Engravers series with amazing historical designs by William Wyon featuring Una and the Lion and the Three Graces. With a special focus on the Gothic Crown Quartered Arms and Gothic Crown Portrait Obverse as we have a number of these in very high denominations and weights. With some of those issues being minted in extremely low numbers not many people will get to see them let alone get their hands on the coins!

Awesome - just awesome! I love the 3 graces - could the symbols beneath the main feature be Leeks and some kind of 'tool' to represent Wales I wonder - so all 4 of the nations are represented? So when you have your next give-away - you can pre-select me for one of those 5 kilo golden giants! LOLOLOL!
Beneath the figures there is a rudder and a palm frond the palm indicates both victory and peace and the rudder reminds us of British naval supremacy. There is a link in the description to our blog on the 3 graces. 😁👍 -CC

Why is Wales overlooked so often?

I have a Gothic Crown Quarter Arms, slightly smaller than those in the video. Probably my favourite of all my coins.

FAO Allan Lamour - Ref Wales ancient history - Wales used to be an independant country until 1277 - 1283 when Edward 1st conqured it and the Principality of Wales ceased to exist - it wasn't until the Laws in Wales Acts of 1706 -1707 that England and Wales were unified - thus when the union flag was designed in 1606 the Welsh dragon was omitted from the flag as Wales was already part of England. I too have both the gothic crown coins and they are both works of art - however I think Christopher might have his valuations wrong.
The Gothic Crown is a beautiful design agreed! Regarding the values these have come down on a few of the coins now they were of the time -CC
