I got one as a gift. Now my daughter makes them for me as gift to give my friends. I bought all the parts on Amazon, the 550 cord that we use has a flammable core string that's colored for easy id in the field. Great video- Keep up the awesome work!
Great video!! Informative and you can see small detail ! Not too long just 'right to business'. Good representation of your survival school business. Makes me want to come down for a class or training.
I would agree for larger ferro rods, but pushing the striker instead offers more leverage for such a small ferro rod. In the end, as long as you get a fire, it doesn't really matter.
Very useful technique! Looks as if this would work while wearing gloves (at least on the ferro rod hand). Longer striker may be needed on other hand if wearing gloves. Reduced dexterity due to cold or exhaustion limits the usefulness of these small fire starters. Thank you for the workaround.

I appreciate the advice!
Thanks for the tip. I got one that came with my odenwolf mini and had kinda dismissed it as being useless. I stand corrected.

If you pull the rod instead of pushing the striker you wont bump your tinder away
That combined with his little hack should serve you well.

😂 Yeah, wow! He bumped his tinder so far there was hardly no point in him tapping it back that whole cm.😅
I prefer a keychain ferro rod. But great tip for the necklace.
Different "strokes" for different folks!

I got one in a survival kit. It's not a go-to, but it works.
