I’m a little out of date but I love this I saw a humpback whale last year and loved it I would really want to see a whale shark in person someday :D but this TH-cam video makes me feel like I’m actually there thank you for making my dream come true
Thank you so much. If you want to see Whale sharks without a huge amount of snorkellers in the water, Christmas Island is the place to go. The dive boat is only small, but that means a much more exclusive experience and you don't have a scrum of 30 snorkellers jostling for position as the whale shark hurries by. I have been to Ningaloo twice as well. The Christmas Island experience is absolutely the best, even if it is (maybe because it is)difficult to get to.
@@pharolfancysonlelll9180 The mouth is not the problem end. They only eat plankton, snorkellers are not on the menu. You have to make sure you keep clear of the tail, it can give you a bit of a whack if you get too close.
They live near Christmas Island, The Galapagos islands, Maldives, Indonesia, Western Australia, near Mexico. All these places have warm nutrient rich water. They eat plankton. At Christmas Island, they turn up for the red crab spawning, and Coral spawning. The red crabs release millions of eggs into the water. The coral spawns on a full moon during the Spring. This is zooplankton. Small algae and other tiny plant based organisms in the water are phytoplankton. The whale shark filters out this nutritious food from the sea water. It takes great gulps of the water (as seen in the film) and forces it between special filters in the mouth and the excess water comes out of the gills. The whale shark then swallow the food. In colder Northern waters the next biggest shark is a Basking shark. It filters plankton in the same way.
Hi! I’m an Environmental biology student, and I’m doing a divulgation project about sharks, their alimentation, and myths around them. I’m looking for some clips of diverse spices eating, to show the large range of types of prey, hunting techniques and others. I wish you could give me permision to use this video on my divulgation exposition. Thanks for reading
You can use clips from this video in any educational project. It is important that people see Natural feeding like this rather than forced feeding in Aquariums. Whale sharks should never be in an aquarium.
I was going to ask if you had touched one. I was right next to onw i could have touched it. I kind of wish i had in hindsight, but your not meant to. Check out my videom its not as good as yours. The walesharks we saw where wild, and not fed, which made it more of an amazing experience seeing one! have you ever touched one? Cool video
Because they are plankton eaters. They filter out small particles from the water. We are far too big. They do not have the sort of teeth that can bite off chunks. The basking shark in cold waters is the next biggest shark. They too are plankton eaters.
Heh. Little guy's like "UGH! Stop getting in my way! I'm trying to eat here and scuba divers are NOT on the menu!" :)

Love these creatures, so majestic. Superb filming, well done, one of the best ever captured.
Thank You. It is amazing to see these in the wild. It makes you realise that they should not be in Aquaria, being force fed.

Cute whale shark here lol
Why don't they see us as food?
Because they are plankton eaters. They filter out small particles from the water. We are far too big. They do not have the sort of teeth that can bite off chunks. The basking shark in cold waters is the next biggest shark. They too are plankton eaters.
it would suck if it ran into you when it was feeding 0.0
why this fish dont think to eat these men?
because its got plenty of plankton to eat
y a because there to big and whale sharks have really tiny teeth so the shark would choke
Whale Sharks are filter feeders. They only eat planktons, small fishes and krills.
