Dropping a ball hitch doesn't tell us anything, give any fake slate 25 years in the sun and guess what? It turns into fucking garbage, nothing but a gimmick, always has been! There's never going to be a substitute vs Real Slate ~ End of Story.
For the storm master slate stress test, wouldn't we have more accurate results by using a real shingle vs a sample board? Great video. Took some nuggets :)

How do send you a message so I can ask some questions about perceived problems I noticed toward the very end of the roofing project? I have brought my concerns to the roofer and now only feel even more taken advantage of and also feel ripped off.

Thanks for including our products. FYI our Rundle Slate panels that you featured here weigh just under 9lbs per panel and it’s 40 panels to cover one roofing square so 9x40=360lbs per roofing square. I’m not sure how you figured out the 430-450lbs per square. Lmk.
What is the thickness of that real slate in the video? To my knowledge, I am not aware of any real slate that weighs less than 900 lbs per square (and some can reach 3,000 lbs per square)
Idk if anyone mentioned, but results may also be very different in a real world scenario... Wood and rafters are typically below roofing material, not asphalt. Wood will flex. Also, I'd like to see cold weather scenarios..
There’s no substitute for the real deal. The biggest problem with natural slate is inexperienced installers and roofing companies who convince people to trash their beautiful homes by suggesting an inferior product. Keep those recycled car tires and milk jugs.

I do like the real slate, but I think it all depends on your budget and what it is you are looking for. I’m happy there are so many options out there. IMO, the euro shield is tough but kind of ugly. Boral is a beautiful synthetic product
I’m going to keep my Vermont slate roof for as long as I can. The reason I think they get people to remove them is the repair costs. It just cost me 1700 to get 80 slates changed on my house and it’s hard for people to afford that maintenance cost every few years. I think 1700 I used to repair some slates I could of bought myself almost enough tin to roof the whole house
What was a product pitch for boral inspire, turned pro euroshield as far as impact resistant. From real slate to anything else shown here is a downgrade. Price should reflect that as well. Could be an option for some.
Not a pitch for any of them really, just showing the different options that are available. Boral is, in my opinion, the best to achieve the closest look of slate at a lower price point. They all serve their purposes but none are the real deal like slate.

For the Borrell inspire slate would you need a re-deck the roof with plywood? We only have a the old slat roof structure now.

If you can't tell the difference from ground, it's not worth spending 2x - 3x on it.
