Such dramatic feeling! I was introduced to DSB way back in the day, her records and later her television performances. Her sense of occasion and mastery of space and tone revealed a consummate artist. Spine chilling!
This is truly a remarkable recording. Each note displays the sheer artistry that is synonymous with Dame Shirley Bassey. From the first time I heard her voice, now and forever, Dame Shirley is the greatest female vocalist of all time. Simply stunning.
3:08 WHY CAN'T I CRY.1968 Lonely am I Only my thoughts crowd the room Why can't I cry? Time passes me by The cold touch of dawn tells me so Still, I can' t cry You promised to love me and vowed You'd never leave me alone with a broken heart You treated along like a game tortured my mind With the pain that someday you'd go Flames in the fire Can't warm the chill of my room Why can't I cry? Feel I want to die Just how much more can I take If I can't cry? You promised to love me and vowed You'd never leave me alone with a broken heart You treated along like a game tortured my mind With the pain that someday you'd go I multiply all of the hours you've been gone Still, I can't cry Lonely am I Why can't I cry?
A very good rendition of a very powerful Ballard indeed. However this is not the best version of this song. The ULTIMATE VERSION belongs to the Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME who's rendition is perfect. PETULA CLARK. Her version is extremely commanding and EXQUISITELY crafted with perfessionalism and just the right amount of remorse over a "great love lost." Tom Jones also as recorded a very good version indeed of this. However it is Petula's all the way for me by at least the length of a full Marathon.
DSB she's a Goddess from Venus. Superb video 📸🤩 Thank you ☺️. DSB always We love you 💕💎♾️🎶🌎🙏❤️💎🙏 Paramount

WHY CAN'T I CRY.1968
Lonely am I
Only my thoughts crowd the room
Why can't I cry?
Time passes me by
The cold touch of dawn tells me so
Still, I can' t cry
You promised to love me and vowed
You'd never leave me alone with a broken heart
You treated along like a game tortured my mind
With the pain that someday you'd go
Flames in the fire
Can't warm the chill of my room
Why can't I cry?
Feel I want to die
Just how much more can I take
If I can't cry?
You promised to love me and vowed
You'd never leave me alone with a broken heart
You treated along like a game tortured my mind
With the pain that someday you'd go
I multiply all of the hours you've been gone
Still, I can't cry
Lonely am I
Why can't I cry?
