Thanks for the suggestions! My top pick is most definitely the Logitech MX Keys. I love this device! Definitely worth the investment!!

Love it! Do you have the full size or mini? I prefer the mini and just bought the mechanical mini to test for awhile

    • @120DEA
      @120DEA ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Christomshack I have the full size. It’s no gaming keyboard obviously but the clicks are just fine for daily use; quiet and feel fine. And the battery life is actually pretty great. I rarely get a low battery alert but I can tell it’s getting low when the backlights don’t come on until I actually touch a key. So, I just pop in the spare USB C cable that I keep on the desk.
Combined with the Logi MX Ergo trackball wireless (with the extra tilt pad) and an Apple trackpad, and it’s a pretty close to perfect setup for office and creative work.

Anker Chargers just can’t be beat. I have several of them and you’re right, they’re better than the standard charger that comes with my MacBook itself. Nice chalkboard analogy for SSD wear.
I know that for the sake of brevity and reduction of complexity, certain explanations had to be left out, but to explain swap, I think memory pressure (0:33) is crucial.
I have a couple of questions on your video:
What was your SSD wear after 1 1/2 years of heavy use (03:46)?
Is there an option in macOS to adjust swap behavior? In Linux, a low value for vm.swappiness forces to OS to swap late.
Do you try to redirect writes from your internal SSD to an external one?
Can you control unnecessary SSD writes? In Linux e.g., you can use 'noatime' for mounted devices.
Can you mount an external drive as your home folder?

Recently gotten a 2021 16” MBP M1pro and watched this video for inspiration for potential accompanying accessories… until i realised i had most of them!
MX Keys Mini x3 (1x for work laptop. 1x for iMac and a spare for my work travel kit, though it often gets used for my iPad Pro 12.9)
    MX Master 3 x2
Anker and Amazon generic USB-C hubs
    Samsung t7 Touch SSD - 1x 500GB and 1x 1TB
    Anker PowerPort Atom
    Anker and RavPower powerbanks
    Great video though, very insightful

Thanks for the list. I’m a new MacBook Air 15 owner and was looking for a decent mouse and keyboard

I'd go with the OWC dock but the thunderbolt 4 version which seems to be a really good one, and definitely the Samsung T7 Shield is in my list, im thinking on one of 1TB for using with time Machine and another one of 4TB for storing data. Hey, which notebook stand are you using?

Love all your suggestions. New to your channel and I definitely appreciate your commonsense perspective. Also, nice jab about how common folk don't have bottomless wallets. The OWC dock and Logi MX Master is what stood out to me in terms of my current needs. I'm adding a subscription to your channel and hope to watch more of your videos moving forward.

The Samsung external drive was a eureka moment for me. I would like to know if larger sizes are available and the corresponding price points. I am just learning about macs the capability comparison is very overwhelming to me as a basic user that is interested in learning about making films on an I phone. This helps clear up some of the confusion and apprehension in relation to hard drive storage.

I like the flexibility of the ugreen to have the ports without the price. Wired networking is not something I need to move up to the Belkin. Nice list.

Thanks for the suggestions Chris, especially that MX Anywhere 3 mouse --- very tempting. I purchased a Logitech Pebble for travel a while ago, and while it's an okay device I don't like the fit in my big hand.

Oof.. the pebble is… well, a pebble of a mouse. Haha
The mx anywhere or mx master 3s will be much more comfortable to use and the added customizable buttons they both come with are a major plus 👍🏼
      And thanks!

This is probably the 5th Mac accessories video I’ve watched that mentioned the MX Keys mini and gahhh I’m just dying to get one for myself now. Great video tho, one of the more practical mac accessories videos I’ve seen!!

I’m buying a MacBook Pro next month and have gone through a lot of TH-cam channels and videos on how to get the best out of my computer itself (such as settings and apps), but this was the first video I’ve seen regarding accessories. Being a graphic design student, I’m sure I will need to consider a few of those hahaha
    Great job, Chris! Just subscribed!
