That's because our lawmakers, who could put an end to this disgusting stuff are spineless cowards and don't respect or regard us. Sadly, someone keeps voting in these same people who don't care about us and our families. Most of the people I vote for, are not elected.
Jeff Cooke the officer that unjustly shot and killed Ryan Whitaker not only should have permanently lost his job with PHXPD, Cooke should have been charged and put on trial.
We are no longer talking about A Few Bad Apples. We are talking about ORGANIZED CRIME (RICO). When do the FELONS have the burden of proof placed on them? When does the public get to seize / arrest the Felons?
They do not care they didn't pay the $3 Million tax payers did. These department all officers should be charged with their crimes. They loose all rughts to carry again. A drunk officer with gun is still an officer. Disgraceful as he lead to murdering a man family and community.
I watched the Ryan Whitaker bodycam video uncensored and so far its the only one I regret watching. They left him groaning on the concrete for 10 minutes, no first aid, which might have saved his life. His death-groans I will remember forever and is why I regret watching it.
The simple fact this man IMMEDIATELY SHOWED respect to the police by literally squatting down WITH HIS HANDS UP. These officers are either to cowardly to be in such a position OR they are blatantly KILLERS. The officer literally said he saw him going after the other officer WHEN ?
If you watch the body cam of Ryan Whitaker being murdered closely from the perspective of the officer that shined his flashlight in Ryan’s eyes when he answered his door you can see Ryan’s gun being dropped on the ground just before he was shot twice in the back
I'm reminded of the Mesa jury that let the murdering Mesa cop off the hook a few years ago, despite the cop's own damning camera evidence. I have no hopes that a Phoenix jury will do any better.
I encourage everyone to look up and watch the press conference the family of Ryan Whitaker held when the body cam footage of his killing was released, look at the faces of Ryan’s loved ones and imagine how they felt then and how they still feel today.
To this day the officers involved have not shown any remorse for their actions that night and Ryan Whitaker’s family haven’t even received an apology from PHX PD. A $3,000,000 settlement means nothing when there’s not even an attempt to atone and learn from what happened.

Glad the family got a settlement and some form of justice. The issue is that money comes from the taxpayers. Not from the Phx PD budget or from the officers. I don't see that qualified immunity is being revoked for these types of cases. Isn’t AZ is a 2nd amendment sanctuary state? You don’t need a permit to open carry so an officer seeing a gun shouldn’t be an automatic green light to start opening fire.
I think everyone on here should request the court documents of this case where the county and state collectively determined through witness testimony, expert testimony, and other evidence why the officer was not criminally charged. There is a “use of force” science that goes into a shooting. Multiple experts spoke on this. While it looked bad(believe me, I know how it looks), there are physiological responses that occurred.
