I think Dean thinks that Sam's using Jack for his powers is because he only saw him talk to him about his powers. He didn't listen in on their conversations. Also, I think he wants to believe that Sam is only using Jack for his powers because he doesn't wanna accept the fact that Sam is bonding with the 'thing' that killed Cas and trapped Mary in the AU. He doesn't want him to form an attachment to Jack because in his mind, he's just another monster that needs to be ended because of what it took from him.

Great episode, robert berens (the writer of this episode) is a genius, he wrote lots of my favorite episodes ever 😍, missouri 😍, we only saw her once in 1x09 " home" & i wanted her back ever since 😍, but again, they brought her back just to kill her, like they did with sara from 1x19 in season 8, i hate when they bring a character back just to kill them, anyway, i love all of sam & jack's scenes, sam is so precious & so is jack, the speech at the end 😍, we finally know why dean is acting like that, when he looks at jack he remembers cas, coz jack is so similar to cas, he's a little naïve, & even looks like him, he blames him for cas's death, dean says: when I look at him all i see is everyone we lost, so sam assumes he is talking about mary & says but mom chose to go after lucifer that's not on jack, then dean says the real reason: what about cas? He tricked him, said paradise on earth & cas bought it & u know what that got him? It got him dead, you may be able to forget about that but i CAN'T, dean is again telling sam that it's different for me, losing cas hits me harder than it hits you, coz you just lost a friend, i lost a partner, once again we see clearly what we saw from the beginning of this season, sam is more focused on getting mary back, while dean is just failing to function after losing cas, you know when someone loses their partners & they take it out on the kid that looks like them? Kinda of what john did with dean, coz dean is so similar to mary as we saw last season, he reminded john of mary & that's a part of why john favored sam & pushed dean away, we saw dean asking chuck for cas first in his prayer to chuck in 13x01, we saw him unable to say cas is dead in 13x01, in the end scene jack channelled dean's anguish to wake up cas with his powers, he used their bond + his powers, jack doesn't know how to control his powers, they get activated when he's emotional, or channelling others emotions, part of him also thought, maybe if I could bring cas back to him, he will be able to look at me, he didn't go for mary, that would've been easier since he already opened that portal again but they don't even know if cas still exist or where is he, yet he must've felt that this is what dean wants most, this is the biggest part of his pain, i just can't with this episode, sam relating to jack coz he was the freak, he used to fear his powers 😍, this is why I love bobo's writing he understands all the characters, none of them get forgotten in his episodes, jody is the greatest, she must be protected at all cost 😍, i loved seeing your relief over her not dying & over cas's return & your joy that he's back, great reaction, dakara 👏😍.
i think this is such an interesting episode because in way, dean has become john and jack mirrors sam in how dean/john sees sam/jack only as the potential destruction and evil he could do instead of giving him a chance, explain the circumstances and choose to believe he could be good. dean, for all his suspicions doesn't realize his hostility to jack is what pushes him to be insecure and confused and prone to lashing out. i also think it's fascinating to look at how sam remembers/how the narrative presents the events of s4 vs now, in how dean (and castiel and bobby) forcibly locked him up in a panic room twice without any support or understanding for what a forced detox could be like. at the time sam said "i didn't think dean would do something like that to me" because it was such a hellish experience for him but now it's presented as "dean saved me" edit: and locking him up in the panic room didn't even do any good; castiel let sam out anyway so that he would be tricked into setting lucifer free later on. anyway i just think it's really interesting but sad to think about how their roles in the jack dilemma and how much guilt people have piled onto sam to think that he deserved to be locked up twice
You can see the "how can you say that?" in Sam's face when Dean tells Sam he is "faking he care" and how "he only wants to use him". The worst part is Jack listening and for some reason beliving it ;-;
Dean is acting like a father who blames the baby when the mother dies in childbirth. He's blaming Jack for Cas's and what he assumes is Mary's, death, because if Jack didn't exist then Lucifer wouldn't have been there and both of them would still be alive. He has all this rage and anger, but Lucifer is not around, so the only place he can put it is on Jack.
Sam and Dean have always been two extremes when it comes to others. Only middle ground they have is when it comes to saving each other or someone like Bobby or Jody .
I can understand where Dean was coming from when he said it was "completely different" - not saying he was right or that I agree with him by any means, of course, but I get what's going through his head. Sam and Jack are going through very similar experiences, but to Dean, they're entirely opposite in terms of what they mean to him. Sam's his brother who he swore to protect from a very young age, there's no way he was going to put a bullet in him. Jack, on the other hand, he has no connection to, and he just currently sees him as the thing that got his best friend killed. Again, while I understand what he means, completely disagree with him of course.
The difference is Jack has supernatural powers and the brain of a 5 year old and you can't take the powers away without killing him. Sam just had to detox from demon blood and he'd be human again. Jack took care of Jack. He needed them because Cas wasn't there. Dean lost a friendly Crowley, a friend Cas and his mom. All thanks to Jack. If he hadn't come into existence they wouldn't of died. Yes Sam proves in a later ep he only wants Jack to get Mary back and I thought that before Dean said it. Sam's pushing Jack to grow into his powers to reopen the rift to get Mary back.

When Jody "died" I was like "oh fuck nooooooo jodyyyy 😰 now Dean will hate Jack even more, coz if Sam hadn't stayed with him, he could've helped defeat that guy" thats a huge scare they gave us there, really sons of bitches 😒
I kinda wish Dean didn't die in the vision. If Patience didn't warn Dean, he would've been killed from hand to hand combat by a random monster. I'd rather have Dean thrown out of the way or knocked out and the vision ending with killing Patience. Would've turned out exactly the same without Dean suddenly being incompetent.
i didn't enjoy deans character at the start of this season hes beem a huge asshole to jack when he hasnt done anything bad yet dean seems so sure he would turn evil just because of who his dad is
