The Octavia RS is back in an all-new avatar. And, thankfully, unlike the Laura RS - it isn’t just a body kit. It’s got the works - a bigger, more powerful motor, lowered ride height, stiffer springs and bucket seats draped in Alcantara. I had noticed this the day you people added this feature to your review but I'm commenting it today - the subtitle feature is one greatest feature that you have added to your review. And it's not because I had trouble understanding you but now, even my friend who is deaf can watch your reviews. And she really likes Kartik's way of presentation. This is something none of the auto review channels has ever done.

Fun fact: the reason tgat 2.0L engine is so damn perfect is because its the same mill powering the VW Golf GTI in all markets. (In the same state of tune) along with brilliant 6 Speed DSG.
In fact that engine+Gearbox combination is so perfect, that even after VW updated their 7 Speed Gearbox to 2nd generation to offer less jerkiness and better torque response, they still continue with the old 6 Speed DSG on the Golf GTi 7.5 (same as that k Golf Gen 7)
So the Octavia RS is Indias closest option to buy the Golf GTi.
It gets exactly same engine + Gearbox, identical 0-100 sprint time, same MQB Chassis from the golf and almost identical wheelbase and track dimensions. Only tech bit i am not sure of, is if the Octavia RS offered in India gets the clever electronic front Diff called XDL from the Golf and Golf GTI.
Vaibhav Patil yes it does get the electronic slip diff. XDS. The vrs is just awesome.

Kartikeya Singhee I am looking to buy the RS my only concerns are Skoda’s service and the maintenance of this car I have taken the decision to buy it and ignore these problems because of those (230) digits can u give more info on the maintenance and that Skoda service plus will it be able to outrun the 5 series?(not talking about the m sport)

This car puts even the german cars like 3 series or a4 to a shame!!
Never an FWD sedan is going to outrun a RWD BMW. It's true it would shame the A4 as well as the A6 (not the quatro)

This time the RS has really been awesome... Be it looks, be it driving pleasure or be it anything.. it is a huge improvement compared to the previous generation which really proves that Skoda has been studying the Indian market!!!!

A fellow collegue of mine happens to own this and he recently changed the tyres to Pirelli P1s and boy has the car gotten a new life! Even though I wasn't daring enough to push it too hard ( he was almost sweating ) but the tyres just seem glued to the tarmac! On the down side, I somewhat felt the ride quality degraded with the change but give this car a smooth road and it gives you the grin nothing else south of 50L or FWD will give you.
Also, glad Skoda is bringing in the RS245 to India next year. But being a CBU, I'm scared it will be priced way beyond justifiable

Hey, depends on your usage, either version will make for a good family car.
Basically, a flip will solve your answer. If you want a luxurious daily drive that handles well and can be fun when you want it to be - Octavia diesel. Flip - If you want a fun to drive car that can also be used everyday with no compromise on luxury - Octavia RS. Personal colour preference - Blue>white but blue is available only with the Octy RS.

How about the lowered ground clearance ?? Didn't hear much about it in detail.. can we ride confidently over bad roads and the irritating speed breakers ..or are there more chances for underbody scraping if driven little fast over them..
Advisable to go slow over larger speed breakers, crawl speeds if you're taking them with a full passenger load. You can take mild rough patches quickly but it is set up on the stiffer side, so you will feel the bumps in the cabin. Standard euro sedan fare.

I have purchased new car and 2 days ago. And now the vehicle is in TR. This is my second vehicle. I have paid 12% RTA in the showroom. Now can I transfer my first vehicle to any of my family members and go for my car registration to avoid 2% extra money. So that now the new car could be my first vehicle.

Alosius Antony means better grade tyres with softer compound for more grip which are more expensive and have a higher speed rating

I have driven the Octavia 1.8 and I think it's bloody fast for its segment and far superior to its competitors. This rs must be frighteningly fast.
Abhijit Shetty agreed. The 1.8 is an absolute rocket and this still outdoes that! That said, its performance isn't frightening but sure is exciting.

The first batch of 250 units was sold out but dealers are taking bookings for the next lot. Very much on sale.

Talking about tyres, Skoda India has always had a bad ethics in selling their cars. They compromise with somewhat ok ones instead of putting the best ones. Any Skoda owner knows he or she changes the tyre in atleast two years thereafter.
Naren Pillai they r atleast better than Maruti and Hyundai
