    Using headphones to listen to other headphones feels like the infinity effect of holding a mirror up to another mirror.

      Haha. Yes. I really didn’t want to do that but at least you could hear some of the differences. The three headphones sound much MUCH better than that. Haha

    Very good job with a tricky thing to demo.
    Don’t forget your inhaler.

    Yes! Got that reference.
    When I have to use metrics on my job I call it "metrical." Feel free to use that one too. I am glad that you use the proper "Imperial" name rather than "Standard" or "English" which many Americans use.....unwittingly. Forgive them for the know not what they say. I remember when electronics just started coming with a "3.5mm plug" and I wondered "What I am going about all my 1/8 inch equipment??" Well....then I realized they just started calling the 1/8 inch plugs "3.5mm" for.......who knows why?? Everyone still uses 1/4 - 20 threads on their stuff.....but no one seems to want to call it 6.35mm - 1.32 thread.
    I've been using a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 that I got for $50 off of Craigslist in like new condition years ago. I've been very happy with them for editing videos and recording sound, but then again I may just not know better.

      Yep! You’re right!
      And the HD280s are a nice set of cans! Stick with what you love! Thanks for the awesome comment!

    Neumann NDH 30 open-back headphones are one the bests for daily studio work, or even for long online meetings.

      Hmm. I’ve never tried them. I’ll try to get a pair to test out. Thanks!

    In my pseronal opinion, both the 440a and the 840a (I own them both) are on the overly high-pitched side, way more than the DT770 Pro (which is a good balance of high-pitched). It is completely different when compared with Sony MDR-7506 (what I can call pretty flat, with a tad more on the bass, just like I like), and even completely opposite compared to the ATH-M50X (very bassy and musical). I'm glad your results reflect the same as my feelings of my units.

    Thx for this review! On your recommendation, I bought both the Sony and the Sennheiser headphones at the time and can share your opinion of both. I like using them for field recording, the Sony even more.

    I have a pair of srh 440 headphones which I wanted for more than a decade I am on my third cable the first two were the coiled variety & 3M
    I believed they wouldn't tangle up so much how wrong was I I am a big male with a big head and these headphones on minimum closed adjustment keep falling off slightly better to rotate L & R now they have snapped it is a fact however they do sound superb I am thinking of a repair however £50 from Argos + 2 genuine cables
    & 1 cheap straight type
    I can find an almost new one on ebay quite cheap and in my town it would be better van a repair I I'm not sure will hold for long
    My Shure 440 do not have the a which you say are newer,
    I have not had a moan to the Shure brand maybe they have solved these issues
    Mind made up thank you so much the video found you on Google but when to TH-cam to reply I wish you well Mikey d

      Hey thanks for the compliment! You might want to check out Sony MDR-7506 if you want to try something new. But if you want to stay with Shure, then that’s cool too! Cheers!

    Oh man, Shure headbands are atrocious. I had 840, 940 and 240
    All of them broke in a couple of months. As their mics sturdy and legendary - their headphones unreliable and fragile, what a shame.

    • @TheRecordist
      @TheRecordist  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh man. They broke? I didn’t get the feeling that these might break, though I did hear horror stories about the first versions of these. I had hoped they corrected that issue.

    • @vampula12
      @vampula12 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheRecordistI hope they did address the issue! I had to transplant 840s cups with drivers to the Beyerdynamic dt250's headband and it worked great ever since, till I sold it, haha! (Sadly dt250s drivers passed away due to its vulnerability to dropping - they have unprotected thin as hair(literally) contact wires that go from the membrane to the soldering contacts and just float there till its dropped and then they just tear near the membrane's edge and you got unfixable dt250/880/990/770 drivers.)
