慈愛經
The Discourse on Loving-kindness Which Should Be Done
Leader:
handa mayaṃ karaṇīyametta suttaṃ karomase.
领者:
現在我們來誦念慈愛經 。
Leader:
Let us now chant the Discourse on Loving-kindness which should be done.

All:
Karaṇīyamattha-kusalena
yantaṃ santaṃ padaṃ abhisamecca, Sakko ujū ca suhujū ca
suvaco cassa mudu anatimānī,
欲求寂静行善者,舉止應當如是學;
堪能正直無谄曲,谦恭柔和不骄慢。
This is what should be done by one who wants to attain the state of Peace: He should be able, upright, straight forward, and easy to instruct, gentle and not proud.

Santussako ca subharo ca appakicco ca sallahukavutti, Santindriyo ca nipako ca appagabbho kulesu ananugiddho.
知足常樂易料養,生活簡易少俗務;
自制謹慎不魯莽,无有攀求於俗家。
contented, easy to support, with few duties and frugal habits, calm in faculties and discreet, not puffed up, not greedy among lay-supporters.

Na ca khuddaṃ samācare kiñci yena viññū pare upavadeyyuṃ. Sukhino vā khemino hontu
sabbe sattā bhavantu sukhitattā.
潔愛無患小罪過,不為智者所譴責;
祈願眾生得安樂,愿彼心中淨安穩。
And let him not do even the slightest thing which later on the wise may blame. (He should contemplate:) May they be happy and secure.
May all beings be happy at heart.

Ye keci pāṇabhūtatthi
tasā vā thāvarā vā anavasesā, Dīghā vā ye mahantā vā majjhimā rassakā aṇukathūlā.
所有一切諸眾生,颤动或不颤动的;
体长巨型中等者,短体弱小粗圆者。
Whatever living beings there may be, weak or strong omitting none.
Those which are long or great, middle-sized, short, subtle or gross,

Diṭṭhā vā ye ca adiṭṭhā
ye ca dūre vasanti avidūre, Bhūtā vā sambhavesī vā
sabbe sattā bhavantu sukhitattā.
如是近者或遠者,無論已生或未生;
平等慈眼視眾生,祈愿彼等心安住。
and those who are seen or unseen, and those who
dwell far or near, born or seeking birth,
may all beings be happy at heart!

Na paro paraṃ nikubbetha nātimaññetha katthaci naṃ kiñci, Byārosanā paṭīghasaññā
nāññamaññassa dukkhamiccheyya.
一切時中一切處,對他莫欺莫蔑視;
不生嗔恚不敵對,無有侵害他人心。
Let none deceive another, nor despise anyone anywhere,
or with anger or thoughts of hate wish for other to suffer.

Mātā yathā niyaṃ puttaṃ āyusā eka-puttamanurakkhe, Evampi sabba-bhūtesu
māna-sambhāvaye aparimāṇaṃ.
猶如慈母愛獨子,奮不顧身善守護;
吾人亦應依此心,捨命慈愛護眾生。
Just as a mother would risk her life to protect her only child. Even so should one cultivate a limitless heart with regard to all beings.

Mettañca sabba-lokasmiṃ
māna-sambhāvaye aparimāṇaṃ, Uddhaṃ adho ca tiriyañca asambādhaṃ averaṃ asapattaṃ.
如是慈愛施世間,橫越上下皆彌漫;
遍布十方無阻礙,無有嗔恨無悔怨。
With good-will for the entire cosmos cultivate a limitless heart;
Above, below and all around, unobstructed,
Without malice enmity.

Tiṭṭhañcaraṃ nisinno vā
sayāno vā yāvatassa vigatamiddho, Etaṃ satiṃ adhiṭṭheyya
brahmametaṃ vihāraṃ idhamāhu.
行住坐臥四時中,不昏不味醒覺中;
恆常修習此正念,是謂清淨四梵行。
Whether standing,walking,sitting, or lying down, as long as one is alert,
one should be resolved on this mindfulness,
This is called a sublime abiding here and now.

Diṭṭhiñca anupagamma sīlavā dassanena sampanno, Kāmesu vineyya gedhaṃ,
Na hi jātu gabbaseyyaṃ punaretīti.
无执取于诸邪见,戒行清高具正智;
斷諸貪欲之執著,如實不復入胎中。
Without wrong views, possessed with virtues and insight,
With subdued desire for sensual pleasures,
One never again be born from the womb.
