  • Took the Jimny to the top of Eyjafjallajökull. This is the Glacier Volcano that erupted 20. march 2010. It made a lot of problems for the airline industry but eventually jump started a revolution for the Icelandic travel industry. This trip was done exactly 10 years after the eruption. The Jimny did a great job as always and reached all the way to the top with out problems. Took some cool shoots with my Mavic Pro and GoPro hero 7 Black. Enjoy the view👍😎

    Eyjafjallajökull’s eruption was still affecting air traffic on April 20, 2010. I was on my from Stockholm Sweden to Guatemala for my wedding on the 24th. Only one plane left Stockholm that day, mine.
    This is the first time I’ve seen a video from the volcano. Thanks, it’s beautiful! ❤️

    Dumb question, does snow like this feel similar to driving in mud or sand? It doesn’t snow where I’m from. Just wondered how it behaves.

    • @thenewjimnychannel361
      @thenewjimnychannel361  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not a dumb question at all. It depends on the outside temperature like if the snow ❄️ is wet or dry. Like dry sand can be very difficult to drive on, just like snow, but wet conditions can very dangerous because of wet snow spots cracking underneath from the vehicle. So the more frost the better. A thick shell forms for the vehicle to drive on top of it👍

    What type and what size is the winch on the Jimny? And how much does the car weigh in total with all gear and fuel?

    • @thenewjimnychannel361
      @thenewjimnychannel361  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The winch is a 10.000lb Bushranger Revo S10 synthetic, which is about 4500kg. Some say that is way to big, but some situations can call for a heavy pull and I have already been in to many of those last winter ❄️ pulling out larger vehicles 🚗 The total weight of the Jimny is about 1500kg fully loaded 👍

    Mjög flott Jimny! How's the drive up there? Is it "safe?" keeping glacier conditions in mind. I see there are tracks and some traffic possibly, but are there any crevasses or any tricky parts? I'm thinking about going there with my 31" Jimny for a long time, but don't want to do anything stupid. Takk!

    • @thenewjimnychannel361
      @thenewjimnychannel361  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Always go very careful on any Glacier. Would recommend tagging along with someone with experience. Not sure about 31” but if there is much frost it might be ok 👍

    did you modify the engine in any way to take care of all that added weight?

    • @thenewjimnychannel361
      @thenewjimnychannel361  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the engine has been remapped for extra 10-12 hp. Still it is not enough, will probably put in a Supercharger👌👍
