Pep did what he had to do. He lost to Chelsea two times before and noticed we had a strong defense and it was hard to score. So he put up his strongest attacking side against us. 66% of the midfield was already messed up with Gundogan in the wrong position and Foden who usually plays as a winger in the midfield aswell. Then you have Sterling in the position Foden is the best at this season. Absolute mess from Guardiola. Unforgivable.
@@GeekRaj although I agree with ur view and I also kind of understand where Pep came from, he should have made it so that the already-existing winning line up attack differently and come up with different attacking routes to break down the Chelsea defense instead of not playing a CDM leaving a gaping hole in the midfield and exposing to Chelsea’s counter attacks.
Sooby he definitely shouldn’t have played attacking since Chelsea want that for the counter attack. He should have played in a way that made both teams cancel each other out. You can’t give the opposition as much space and opportunity the way City did.

What!! Actually Pep Baldiola will be death before he arrived to the court if he play a CDM... Its totall execution at highest degree for it becoz lost 2 games before to Chelsea he uses CDM in the shape of Rodri & Fernadinho. The truth decision to execute Pep Baldiola been made.

@@GeekRaj You can still put out an attacking team without sacrificing defensive responsibilities. Attacking football is not just about fielding an all attacking players. The system and formation is equally important, if not more. Why was Sterling playing when has has been poor in last couple of games? If you want to attack, why is your highest scoring midfielder playing in the DM part of the field? He wanted to leave a mark and be smart but t was a huge and unnecessary mistake which cost them.
The amazing part is Pep never changed his line up in Barcelona. He used to start changing when he got into Bayern then City he changed Line up + System. It is weird... that how overthinking he do... i mean its his 5th year and he blew all the hard work of their player.
Pep didnt overthink, he did the right thing. Its just went wrong. Pep did what he had to do. He lost to Chelsea two times before and noticed we had a strong defense and it was hard to score. Cause at Barca he had a solid starting 11. There wasn’t a need to because the starters were set in stone. Messi eto and Henry were your front 3 (and later Pedro and Villa). Xavi inestia and busquettes where your midfield. Puyol and pique are your center backs. Alves is your right back and abidial your left. The only time he did a change was when he moved mascherano from midfield to a center back (which was an amazing move because he was brilliant as a centerback).in fact he did it because he wasn’t gonna replace busquettes. In city he has so many players that can be good or great that it’s like a kid in a candy shop where everything is free.
Pep started changing his “system” and constantly tinkering his line up at Bayern due to injuries, he wanted to learn/evolve his play style, and because he generally changes/tweak his tactics every year. Also he had/has so many talented/elite players at Bayern and city that he gets caught in paralysis by analysis. It’s very easy to chose Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets every game because they’re all time great players. And you can never go wrong with those three. But it’s hard to choose between Schweinsteiger, Gotze, Lahm, Kroos, Thiago, Vidal, and Xabi Alonso at Bayern. And it’s even more complex to choose between Foden, KDB, Rodri, Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, and Fernandinho. Due to having such a loaded midfields at Bayern and Man city the variables he has to account for exponentially increase and thus causes him to over analyze everything.
@@GeekRaj city fan here and i agree with you. If this ploy had worked out in our favour the story line would have been different. Our guys were totally off the mark on that day. We were ball chasing instead of controlling the game.
Facts bro. Every game he used the same 4-3-3 lineup; Valdes, Alves, Puyol, Pique, Abidal, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Pedro, Villa. Then when Fabregas came to the team, Iniesta played on the left-wing and Fabregas was inserted into the midfield. What a team
Chelsea was simply better. Werner had two golden chances that has nothing to do with DM. Pulisic near goal effort was at a time there was a DM. Before the final Chelsea defeated them twice with DM. Excuses will not make Man. City beat Chelsea in the next 2 years. Mark my words.

You are missing the fact that Chelsea players and coach performed on a top level. You keep talking about Man City players playing poor. Chelsea never beat City’s best team. If you notice, not one City fan brought up City’s 3-1 when Lampard was coach. In reality, that was the best team City played against Chelsea. It hurt Chelsea fans, but Pep played two weakened teams in the FA Cup and in the league, the latter in which he played two wingers as central midfielders.

Same thing happened in Barcelona with Koeman, we were on a winning streak and he "brilliantly" decided to tinker and experiment with a winning lineup against Granada ( in the most important part of the season), costing us the chance to get ahead and win the League, yes the players played really bad and you blame those individual mistakes but it all STARTED with the Coaches decision, These dumb mistakes compound and make it substantially more difficult on a team. You already have a uphill climb to make, dont make it harder by adding more rocks in the way.
He sent them out there without a true CDM, against a team that runs a 3-4-2-1 and loves to hit through the middle (If they can finish in front of goal is another story). God only knows what he was thinking.
Tuchel has now surpassed Guardiola. The top 3 managers are Tuchel, Klopp and Conte. Guardiola is a brain damaged idiot that will never be as good as them 3.
He played Rodri and Fernandinho against Chelsea in the FA cup and in the league and lost both games. It’s not Peps selection that made them lose, it’s Chelsea just being the better team on the day.
No, it’s really not. Do you think if Fernandinho were playing mount would find the space to hit up Havertz on the Chelsea goal? Also city created very good chances when Fernandinho came on. His style and the outcome of this game has no correlation.
Missing the point! Pep essentially wanted to overload the attack, get an early goal, bring in Fernandinho. In response, Chelsea would open up, and they hurt them more.
Here's why I cannot take some of these "Analysts" serious. When pep scraped Aguero and Jesus to play a false number 9 and went on that amazing undefeated run, everyone song his praise. He made decisions like this all the time and it made him a "genius". Had they gone with either Rodri or Fernandinho City would have sat deeper and more vulnerable to the counter should Chelsea are in transition as none of these players have speed to compete with Werner, Havertz, Pulisic or even Mount.. Pep's saving grace was to hope Walker occasionally stepped in to counter these foot races and help out Gundogun. Who also played in that position before at Dortmund before people knew of his attacking capabilities. Chelsea would have more space to play and they can damage any team in the world once in transition whether or not either defensive midfielders were on. Chelsea squeezed both midfielders the last two games, he knows that. Against Rodri in the league defeat Chelsea pressed Rodri when he had the ball. It was even against him losing the ball because he couldn't find a pass that Chelsea turned over and Alonso scored. In the FA Cup, Fernandinho came up against the same thing. I can understand his thinking. The best form of defense is attack. He wanted to put Chelsea and the back foot and break them down. He went direct. Irregardless of whatever Team they were playing, with the talent Chelsea has they would always threaten going forward or in transition, Real Madrid and Atletico are classic examples. Had the score been 1 nil to Man City he would have been greatest manager of all time. The headlines would have been "genius" or any other adjective the English language affords in how they would favor his win. Fernandinho played over 30 mins, and they looked even more open and vulnerable to the counter. Name one time he break down a Chelsea play going forward. With both DM Man City lost again Chelsea. Chelsea's only weakness in putting the ball into the net. Kante and Jorginho would have dropped infront of the back three while the fullbacks compact to form the back five and City would have no other options but to play side ways football and try flashing the ball across goal or crosses. Nothing else.
Thank you very much! These pundits just chorus the same stupid chants like they don’t have brains to think for themselves. Zero analysis, all they do is sacrifice a coach or player after one loss regardless of how good they have been all season.
It’s like the best girl band of our time, Spice Girls. They may be the most talented and creative outfit and churned out endless strings of hits, they also have duds. If you followed Pep, you would know he has always experimented with his line-ups. But this experimentation was not apparent to common fans because he kept winning. The final is just an off-day. TBH, Tuchel is the lucky one. He couldn’t even get past Villa.
@@androsc1418 that's the problem with being a coach. If this tactic had worked they would be hailing him for being such a genius and being able to adapt to Chelsea's tactics but since it didn't they want his head. It's a terrible job

@@neymarthegoldenboy4560 he’s literally won everything there is to offer in England. How many clubs have won their first cl final? I have full faith in pep that we’ll win the cl next year
Thomas Tuchel won the Champions League with a team, formation and tactics that got them to 4th, FA Cup final and CL Final. Pep after winning the League went on his tinkering journey as soon as that despite us not having injuries. Gave the mental edge to Chelsea after the home loss and failed in his tactical selection in this game. No Ferna/Rodri was a catastrophic decision. When the entire team play badly the onus falls on Pep.
Is all on him due to the following reasons: 1. He has spent 1 billion dollars in transfers since his arrivals at the Etihad. He asks for a player and the management gets him the player. He ask to release someone and he is instantly released. He had everything he wanted. 2. His formation. City has 22 players at the highest level that could started the final. Yet he decided to go without a real CDM and a ST. After knowing Chelsea was playing with FIVE defenders with TWO stoppers, he decided he wanted to play with TWO strikers. That's giving Chelsea the advantage cuz they were meant to play against TWO STRIKERS! 3. His tactis. Chelsea's performance was brilliant. They really managed to neutralize Pep's posession game. If the posession isn't working, he had to change it, but he didn't. He put two strikers at the 75 minute mark, but he told his players to keep the posession and the infinite passes until they reach Chelsea's box. The first cross was in the 93 minute. They player an entire 18 minute stretch with two strikers on the pitch without giving them a proper opportunity to score a goal. But the most stupid part of all is that he refused to let his players try from outside the box. Chelsea's 5 defenders line was unreal. They didn't let City to reach the box. If that's happening, you HAVE to try score from outside the box, but the first attempt was at the 96th minute, and it was the clearest chance City had the entire game. This loss is all on Guardiola.
instead of blaming pep, just admit Chelsea out performed them. at the end of the day its the players out on the pitch and they didn't do enough. it takes 2 to tango
No, you’re only half right. Chelsea did perform well - which is universally acknowledged - but Guardiola also did make absolutely spectacular tactical errors which massively weakened his team. Both assertions are correct; the Chelsea performance was a big factor in the result, but so was Guardiola’s bad team selection.
There is no excuses Chelsea won but what I wanna say is we had three attacking midfielder in cm And that backfired on us if we had a dm then potentially it could’ve been better. Remember city had majority of the ball and had 90 mins to score but failed to do so because Chelsea had them in their pockets. Tell we one city player that stood out in the game for you? @@credomabiba Fair points BUT Guardiola did not just make one tactical error, he made several. That breaks the spine of the team, and as a player you are straightjacketed into playing a certain way. That was the single biggest factor in how City underperformed. I don’t think any of their players played very well, some played actively badly (Stones, Zinchenko). Usually relyy it able performers like Dias did not play well. At the same time, Tuchel prepared his team perfectly. Chelsea has been so amazing defensively since Tuchel arrived - shows you the difference the tactical preparation makes. Before Tuchel, they could not seem to defend set pieces, now they have the best defence in the league. Same players. Btw, I don’t agree with you how much of an underdog Chelsea were on paper. Yes, City were favourites but look up how much the Chelsea players are worth, consider how much they spent on Havertz and Werner alone. Hardly underdogs.

Marez was force to use his right foot which we all knw how that goes. Foden, I saw him twice, Sterling canceled out by having no midfielder to pass to him (same for Foden) and also the fact that he keeps getting the ball on the out track which gives James the advantage to cover him. We were just appalling. He is friends with Tuchel- he wants to make sure Tuchel gets his props. In my humble opinion, however, Pep is to blame. I swear I screamed when I saw Sterling and no Fernandinho ... I knew we are going to lose 😆
I dunno man, ... it's over-the-top to lay it all on Guardiola's set up. Chelsea already beat him twice and he was trying to find a way to break down the Chelsea defense, ... so he went with more attack, who, btw, are all great ball handlers. If it wasn't for some last ditch perfect defending, City could have had a goal or two in this match. Last ditch defensive work by Reese, Kante, Azpi and Rudiger were crucial. I just think that Chelsea dug this one out with a collosal team defending effort. They can do that because they have the players to counter. Unlike Chelsea, Man City made one critical mistake and Mount found Havertz crossing into space between the defenders. If Pulisic would have started, ... he probably would have been attacking that same space, which is what he did against Real Madrid. It was the two previous losses to Chelsea that probably led Guardiola to try and find a way to break through, and, ... as I've noted, ... he nearly did. It was Chelsea's day - all the players showed up and City's players weren't quite on the same level, across the board. Jan has a point. It wasn't just about the tactics - too easy to just blame Guaridiola on that one. Everyone is always 100% sure of their analysis after the game is done. The way Chelsea players play against a threatening opponent is difficult to handle, especially if you are a team who wants to enjoy having the ball, creating and scoring. It takes the "air out of your sail."
@@clintondavis3363 if you recall, pundits and analysts were already concerned after they saw the lineup. It isn't a case of analyzing after the fact.

"Chelsea starting 11 have no one who win the ucl before, it's not like they're facing veteran side"
kovacic in the bench with 3ucl medals: 👀
Winning top European title means this team can go higher and higher
Kovacic was also on bench in all finals he won
@@legend4941 don’t know about you but I’d rather have 3 UCL’s as a bench player than none as a starter
Is all on him due to the following reasons:
It’s like Chelsea playing 3 attacking mids and no kante and one last thing I want to add is raheem Sterling did not play the semis and has barely played this season so idk why tf he played in the finals ggs Chelsea
@@gentlemanjim480 yes that’s true and I understand that, but if you think about how much of an underdog Chelsea was, that team on paper “technically” still should have been enough to get the win. Both teams had solid chances to score and at the end of the day Chelsea put theirs away. Remember city had majority of the ball and had 90 mins to score but failed to do so because Chelsea had them in their pockets. Tell we one city player that stood out in the game for you? If one tactical error is enough to make a whole team play bad, then for me that says more about the players then it does about the manager :))
@@credomabiba I bet N’Golo Kante now is worth as much in the transfer market as anyone in his position in any Premier League team...
Pep did not over think, he lost to a better team and it's not like it was the 1st time losing to Chelsea with those players people say he should started. Just give Tuchel and Chelsea credit.
These pundits are clowns at best. Ian was spot on with his analysis. Pep has played all types of midfield against Tuchel and lost. TT is better period
It's all on Pep. He said before the game that he wants to attack but there was no striker. He played a CL final without a CDM and a Striker. He is his biggest rival and I'm starting to believe that we're never going to win the CL with an overthinker in charge.
Pep is the guy UCL coming to City in next 5 years⏫🏆
The reason why the players didn't perform was because the system didn't work. He made them so fluid and unstructured that they couldn't create space
Wrong!!!!... They got schooled thrice by Chelsea... Period!!!
Chelsea woke up feeling dangerous ⚠️🥶
- Beat 3 out of the top 4 teams in La liga
- Beat the runners up of Portuguese League
- Beat the dominant champions of England in the finals
- broke the defensive record for a CL winning team
(Espn pundits apart from Yan and Frank clowned 🥶💙)
no absolutely not! stop disrespecting the chelsea players and trying so hard to take away from what an amazing performance it is. regardless of what team pep put out chelsea were always winning that game. you need to respect your opponent before you try beat them
Thank you Craig. The team selection is the problem not the players
3 times chelsea beat them lol always finding a fault 😂😂😂no matter what team he played they would still get beat from Chelsea!!!
@midlife coastercrisis you sound salty and bitter in 1. You or the pundits knows nothing About football. Who are you to question peeps tactics. Basically pep needed to go all out score against chelsea first. Then he would bring on a dm later in the game to sure thing up. But it didn't work. And who told y'all it would work otherwise against chelsea? ...you think you can talk to me about football? U have no knowledge of the game based on your reply. You're just salty as those pundits !!!
@midlife coastercrisis City started Rodri and Fernandinho in the FA cup and still lost. I think these pundits are overthinking now. But I think they are just trying to defend their own narratives of Chelsea losing against City before the match and now making these bullshit excuses. They are blaming the loss on Fernandinho not playing! A 35 yr old who doesn’t even play in their league team.
Tuchel is more experience and smart than Pep Gaudiola
Now they talking about a DM who did not play. HOW many chances did the attacking players create? You always find a way to defend city's defeat. City has played with this line up before. When we beat them in the last two games, you said we didn't play their best team. Today,Pep didn't play a DM,that's why they lost.smh
I get your frustration but even the commentators noticed that the game was screaming out for a DM. We were getting countered with ease. Had Fernandinho been on the field Chelsea would not score a goal like that. Not saying Chelsea wouldnt score but not in that way
@@odainebennett4041 We don't care!

Make it sound like pep lost the final and didn't get beat 3 times with 3 different tactical adjustments at all and that pep would never of lost if Fernandinho played. Seems like your trying to save the horrible predictions you guys made.
Chelsea beat City man to man fair and square get it ?
Burley couldn't have said it any better! 100% facts!!
Guys catch yourself on, they lost by a single goal, great team and Chelsea are also a great team. Next season they will be up there again with Liverpool and Chelsea. Best team won on the day and that’s it
Apart from the mistake that lead to Havertz's goal, City played well. Chelsea's defense yesterday was just too good
City were terrible.
Werner had 2 clear chances and pulisic also had a clear chance. We can say city had 2 chances as well but as you mentioned the chelsea defense was there while city defense wasnt there(chelsea just missed those chances)
Wrong!!!!... They got schooled thrice by Chelsea... Period!!!
Lol mistake right. City played terrible, if Chelsea had a striker who could finish, it would have been 3-0 first half.
Mistake ? A pass that split city’s defense in half, Werner dragged Dias wide and stones already went to press which was their tactics, even if ederson didn’t come out havertz woulda scored the goal still because no player was close to him, aren’t you all tired of making excuses 😂😂 played against tuchel 3 times and lose 3 times with dm or no dm 😂
Chelsea defending played a major role in win
in 38 premier league games, gundogan has never played in the 6 position or at least with no traditional DM. pep shot himself in the foot
Why does nobody ever give credit to Chelsea? in all honesty they should of been more than 1-0 up going into half time and then when man city changed their midfield they still couldnt score, they simply just got outclassed, yes pep fucked it but so did the players.
Yea, it is all on pep can’t believe he didn’t start a cdm when he PLAYED the position
Raheem Sterling the scapegoat for every failure City had.
y’all really need to give the kid a break. It’s like he’s the easiest target. The man admit he hasn’t had the best of season. Have he cost us a match when he played ? No, he cost us one match against Lyon and we gonna use that and look past how appalling all the other players were yesterday. Kante literally cancel KD. Marez was force to use his right foot which we all knw how that goes. Foden, I saw him twice, Sterling canceled out by having no midfielder to pass to him (same for Foden) and also the fact that he keeps getting the ball on the out track which gives James the advantage to cover him. We were just appalling. We needed advancing midfielders and a no.9 to pull Chelsea defenders open but no oh no, we have a legend who is now fit as well and a back up no.9 that we never stop breaking down that he his not good as KHUN which I am sure we all knew before. Ohh and a holding midfield who is 36 but yet still playing at a top class level that we left on the bench but oh no it’s Sterling fault smh. At the end of the day it’s just football so be fair, the team sucked yesterday our full backs act as if they were afraid to past the ball forward. I can understand why Pep choose such attacking forward line but 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️. We got away with and easy season and it got to our heads. What’s next Khun goes to Chelsea and win them the league?
Finally a sane comment. All his haters are either Liverpool fans or algerians both populate comment sections. He actually played ok and was more threat than prince mahrez and homeboy foden. Hoping he leaves for a club that appreciates him
People are still not appreciating Chelsea win... instead they are focusing about man City loss and how pep made a mistake. 😤
Chelsea have beaten Man City A ..B...C and every team that Pep could put in. We won everything.... Chelsea is obviously better than Man City..... Just admit it People. 😒
Jan clearly missed the point as well as his own argument.
I just wished he saw his mistake and brought in Fernandinho and Aguero at halftime for Silver and Sterling. It was unfortunate that De Brunye was injured just as Fernandinho and Aguero were coming in. It wasn't meant to be I guess. I believe Kevin and Mahrez would have been free to roam forward with Fernandinho having their backs. Also, John Stones couldn't find people to pass to because Gundogan I love him, but he can be lazy at times. He can't be there by himself.
WRONG!! Kovacic has won it TWICE before... WRONG ! your prediction that City would win... Chelsea have beaten City THREE TIMES in a few weeks and your excuses that City have played a weakened side or the coach has 'over thought' are frankly PATHETIC.
The media bias against Chelsea is unbelievable. 3 games now Tuchel and Chels have absolutely tactically outclassed and humiliated Guardiola. Not seen an ounce of credit toward one of the best Chelsea performances ever.
Pep system breaks down when teams overload in defensive areas. Even worse, when those sides defend & press high up those area's, leaving few gaps, for his slinky tippy-tappy possession passing game. Champion League elimination against Inter Milan 2010, Chelsea 2012 & yesterday's Champions League Final defeat, cases in point.
But we didn’t really press high yesterday tbh
Lets be honest, even if it was Citys best team or whatever, Chelsea was still gonna win, even if it was a different Team altogether, Chelsea was still gonna win, so just stop this nonsense.

Yeah. Difficult for players to perform when structure is imbalanced. Also, sterling in front of Aguero? No way. I think coach felt intimidated and reacted before the game. If they played their own game it would be a better feeling and possibly result.
Considering that tuchel probably prepared for city's best 11, I still think city wouldn't have broken chelsea's defense even if guardiola did things right
the thing pep changed was playing dias and stone close to each other throughout the season. which was completely opposite in the final, he played ruben as a left center back of a banck three often far wide to stones.
