my favorite thing about Owen’s plans for the show was that he wanted 8 books to really nail in the infinity symbolism. really hope he can make it happen one day… if Adventure Time and ATLA can have comebacks there’s a tiny bit of hope right?

A big part of Book 1 was how Tulip took things too literally from a scientific perspective and neglected the feelings of people around her to try to brute-force logic her way through the train’s puzzles. In that sense, going to save Atticus even when she could’ve left was an important character development from her because it shows us she’s straying away from that fixation of purely operating on rigid logic and taking empathy into consideration
Honestly I am not even worried. I feel like its impossible that this show stays gone. Some day someone is going to decide to bring it back and finish it off its too good not to. Much less popular shows have been revived because of a fanbase online.
Right it’s so unfair that it got removed from streaming services. Also buying the dvds ended up not becoming an option anymore either. That show didn’t deserve to be cancelled and it definitely didn’t deserved to be practically wiped from existence. At the very least they could’ve let us enjoy the show in some form either on streaming or with the dvds
The shadow removal pissed me off so much. I’m livid honestly People WANT animation it’s infuriating that Hollywood corporate doesn’t fuckin get it because they don’t want to pay the animators
I love this show so much. I remember watching the youtube pilot for it when it was first released and i thought it was the coolest looking thing ever and waiting patiently for years for the actual show to be released just for each book to blow me away each time. This show is amazing dude
Right. I think I saw the pilot abt a year or 2 before the show was released. After seeing the pilot in TH-cam I looked for other information in the show only on TH-cam bc I thought it was only released on TH-cam. Once I heard that the show was made I watched the first season and loved it
In respect to Simon's number, I definitely get where you're coming from. But the way that I always interpreted it was that Grace was stuck inside that tape for a long period of time. There's no signifier saying just how long she was trapped in her own memories and thoughts but we do see that Simon has noticeably longer hair when we meet him again. Implying that at least a few months have passed. With that in mind, it makes sense that he had time to get his number that much higher.
Ah, I think I overestimated how much that pony tail was holding up. My final verdict for this season as of posting this video has been: “Incredible, but needed one more episode.” I think it could have benefited from having that extra 11 minutes of them being apart to further accentuate their changes. Again, it’s not something that really detracts from the series, just a little bump that, for me, could be smoothed out. Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.
The way I saw it was that the number doesn't change based on your actions, just your mental state. We've seen that the number changes even when someone doesn't do anything, just when they think about something. Amelia went down a dark path maybe her descent into insanity was far more gradual - her sanity degraded over a great deal of time or it was a more recent event after repated failures. Simon's mind took a HUGE dip when he felt that Grace had completely betrayed him, the one person on the train he actually felt like he could trust.
I hope Adult Swim gives it a chance. They are already making and playing cartoons for all audiences like Unicorn Warriors and Adventures With Superman, since Cartoon Network is too much of a wuss to make anything new.
Yes and Owen and the team definitely wouldn’t have to hold back. CN was so dumb for having 4 seasons of this show and I think all were pretty successful. The only one that might’ve had a bit of issues was the 4th season I think that’s partly due to the show being released on MAX instead of CN. I think a lot of the fans that could get a MAX account did for Infinity Train
One thing I want to say about Simon, in comparison to Amelia. Amelia suffered the traumatic event that catalyzed her arc when she was an adult, fully developed. Simon experienced a sense of abandonment as a child, when he was more formative. Furthermore, this also left him to wander the train completely alone for who knows how long, with no denizens - I can't see him letting one close enough to help him. The big difference between Simon and Amelia are their mental growth. Amelia is an adult who suffered, but who lashed out in her grief, running from it much like Tulip. She was a dark reflection of Tulip's own struggle, seeking to change reality rather than accept the cold fact that her husband was dead. Simon never developed past his childhood trauma, letting it shape his worldview probably even more than whatever event led to him being on the train in the first place. It became his whole defining characteristic, and he let it rule his life to the point of obsession. This made him less than indifferent to the denizens, he despised them all to his very core, and sought to kill them whenever possible. It was only when Grace, the first person he let in after the Cat's abandonment, started treating denizens - his mortal enemies - as equals that his mind snapped and he fully lost all hope at redemption. One thing I've noticed about Infinity Train's first three season is that every human has a parallel among the cast to shine a light firmly on their problems - as the Train does. Tulip had Amelia, both fleeing their trauma. Lake had Jesse, who was willing to change himself on the whims of everyone around him, where Lake was *forced* to be someone's reflection for so long that she'd grown cold and bitter to it. And Grace had Simon - a young woman coming to realize that her previous actions had been horribly misguided and evil, and actively sought to better herself and the world around her, and a man so lost in his own delusions that he'd convinced himself that this creature - who could laugh and cry, who had children and lost them, who cared for Hazel and even grew somewhat close to him, - was nothing more than dirt to be ground beneath the Train's wheels. He refused to change so adamantly, he was willing to kill Grace to reject the possibility of it. Grace was just like him, but she could change. So why couldn't he? Jury's out on Season 4, but the two leads play off one-another nicely. I don't know if there are parallels there - admittedly, Season 4 was the least re-watched for me, since it makes me sad - but if anyone can think of any, let me know.
That was a very in depth comment on. I appreciate it! I especially love the point you made about Simon’s breaking point. Grace, the person he trusted the most started doing something that he didn’t like and instead of facing the fact that he may be in the wrong he opted to just get rid of her. It’s a very interesting look into just how messed up his experiences made him. Also, I’m pretty sure Grace showed up only a few moments after Samantha abandoned him, so he didn’t have much time to wander the train alone. Or maybe I’m misunderstanding that point? Either way, thank you for the insight on his character.
@ButterPrime I do remember that scene, now that you mention it. So he likely had only a little while without a companion, but still. With how strange and harrowing the cars can be, a child alone for even one car might not come out okay. And thank you; much of it is only implied and not directly stated or confirmed, so I can't be sure if it's right. Simon could *just* be a dangerous sociopath with a long history of violence. But I feel like the writers of Infinity Train are above making an antagonist so one note.
22:30 - Not quite accurate tbf. He wasn't 'abandoned once and started murdering people', he was "abandoned" by a denizen, and then the passenger who saved him taught him the denizens are just like NPCs in a game - there for their amusement. What little we see of kid Simon shows that he was terrified and had no idea what to do, so he latched onto Grace and followed her example, and she happily took up the leader role. By the time they're at the age we see them at, they've become totally set in their ways, Grace for the sake of maintaining control and Simon for the sake of keeping this "family" he's found. That's what makes Simon's fall even more tragic, to me at least. Throughout the season, Grace starts to realise she was wrong and gradually becomes better, but she never admits to it or takes accountability for what she's done in the past. She always makes excuses, piles on lies, and if she can't think of anything, yells at Simon and tells him to back off. Simon's doing the exact thing he's been doing since he met Grace, that always earned him praise from her, but now all of a sudden it's making her angry at him and she's pushing him away. So when Simon learns that she's been keeping secrets on top of that, he feels like he's been betrayed AGAIN, this time by someone he'd built a much stronger connection with. If Grace had owned up to her mistakes far earlier, just admitted that she'd been wrong this whole time and talked to Simon properly, he MIGHT have had a chance of being saved. And I know people will argue that what happened to Simon was his fault and not Grace's, but no, they're BOTH at fault over it. Simon made the wrong decisions, but Grace was the one who set him on the path, gave him positive reinforcement every time he hurt or wheeled a Null, and then completely 180'd on him. She took Simon under her wing, but then didn't take responsibility when she realised she had been wrong, and so Simon's death was the result of both of them failing to overcome their issues in time. Well, that and the train abducting him in the first place.
I agree with you on the last episode of season 3. While very good, grace gets off the hook a bit too easily. Especially considering that to some degree she made simon who he is with her manipulation that she demonstrates throughout the season. Not everything he does is her fault, but Grace shares some responsibility.
I'm not here to watch this video, but I did watch infinity train twice. I would just like to say that it was probably the best "growing up is difficult" stories ever animated. The very concept blends together whimsy, character growth, and sci Fi so brilliantly that I doubt we'll get anything like it soon. Keep pushing! And maybe it's popularity could force a comeback
I miss this show so much. This was a very well-done video and you presented your criticisms in a very fair way. I agree with what many others are saying, it’s hard to imagine this show will be gone forever. The Infinity Train fandom is still very much there, it’s just kinda dormant right now. I’m sure there are people in high places who are at least aware of the show and what a fanbase it gathered. Even if the IT crew just got the rights to finish Book 5/The Amelia Movie, I’d be happy with that.
I love this show a lot. Also I really liked the name Lake right away, because a lake is technically a reflecting surface, but there's so much more to it than just that fact.
I albo Think season 4 was the waekest one ... but it has the Best line from the entire show. "I Think even if you live here you never really left that fog" omg that hits sooooo hard.
Season 3 is such a good season especially when you see it with the lens of how incels and sadistic internet men are made. It pains me to admit that I relate to simon more than I should have. He really is a hateable character, but we cant just dismiss him as a bad guy because that just feeds his anger to humanity. Really, he is a child that never managed to grow up. It is even referenced a lot in the episode that he is acting like a mad child. His arc is sad in a way because he never managed to realize thag he can still change for good. The episode is really good at showcasing his humanity without making excuses for him. That season surprised me so much.
It shows that she lost her reflection because MT is no longer attached to her, which I think is pretty deliberate. Also I think they reference her going missing right at the end, but don’t quote me on it.
Amazing video absolutely amazing keep up the great work! Also with book 4 and the denizens all apologizing so quickly i think it has to do with the whole train itself its trying to teach Min-Gi and Ryan they can make up and still find some peace with one another
I thought this was a great review! I didn’t agree with everything, but who agrees with everyone on everything, right? My personal ranking for each book goes as Book 3, Book 1, Book 2, and Book 4, with books 1 and 2 being interchangeable, though I slightly lean more towards Book 1 because of what it tackles and the insane amount of accuracy and depiction of what being a child going through parent’s divorce feels like. To me, Book 3 felt like the one that got to really let loose and show what the team could really do, and from what Book 5 was planned to be I honestly think it would’ve ended up being the best, up to that point at least. Those are just my takes though, I’m thankful there are still content creators talking about the show, and I truly believe its revival is inevitable, the social media trending we did was certainly not unnoticed, and having a show with this level of writing, concept, world building, and inward-looking depth, I think it’s too rich a project to not pick up again #renewinfinitytrain #finishinfinitytrain
The removal of infinity train from the service is another reason as to why I like physical copies. Just a while ago (from what I’ve seen atleast) is that they released book 2 on dvd again and I managed to get a copy from best buy. But the fact that books 3 and 4 are basically no longer viewable is just awful. I remember about owens idea for books 8 Alzheimer’s and book 6? Being about this one guy named Blake. I can’t remember what he said the season was going to be about but it’s sad that Owen may never continue his vision. And speaking on the topic of shadow removing the show, well what about them shadowdropping book 4. I only saw one teaser then just came across book 4 while in p.e during year after the pandemic. It’s just so upsetting that this amazing show is being given the short stick while max approves all the other trash we see now. Sad to see that book 3 was the most intense book even though everyone knows book 5 would’ve been a trauma bloodbath. Never forget what they took from us. Edit: also the “no child entry point” excuse has the same energy as Disney cancelling the owl house because it wasn’t “Disney brand” when we all know that was bullshit too
You may disagree with me but Book 4 is my favorite and I'm happy that the show ended with this season even though it's weaker than the others, honestly I'm very happy that we had such a happy and well-developed season after a season as dramatic and traumatizing as Book 3
This show deserved to be completed. I will stop having hope for some studio to pick it up and let the show continue. When I heard that CN wouldn’t let it continue I was hoping that Max would take over and let it keep airing on there. That show probably lead to so many ppl getting a Max account
The show feels like it was directed by James Cameron, in that it has sci-fi themes, and is good 😊😊 also, i agree with your views on Atticus' revival! Since I was 13, I felt that it was a big moment in her ark
I think that season 4 not really being related majorly to the other seasons is completely fine. The problem is that its actual writing is just bad, and that its the season the series got canceled on and its definitely not fair to judge it because of the latter. There are plenty of problems with season 4 but that in particular is not the fault of anyone but the executives who canceled this show like morons. Oh also their numbers did not unlink. Ryan already got his number to zero for a bit which shows they haven't been entirely linked the whole time.
I stopped watching after season 2 because I knew that if I kept watching they'd feel bad again. Great writing. Genuinely how you're supposed to write mystery.
Love hearing your opinions on the different books bc it’s interesting to hear an opinion totally different from mine, personal ranking would be 1. Book 3 2. Book 2 3. Book 4 4. Book 1
Ok the fact of Book 4 being a planned downpoint makes more sense. I really hope Infinity Train gets to be completed eventually. I never got the chance to watch it when it was on (Missed the first two seasons on CN, never had HBO max) but I watched it recently and it's SO GOOD
I can't wait for HBO to copystrike you for using the music from the show although they already threw out the show to the garbage, just an ultimate dick move to fans of Infinity train Also about Cat being horny for Jessie, i believe it was forshadowing for the flashback of her being friends with Simon
I already had to edit around using too much of certain episodes to keep it from being claimed. And yeah, that makes sense. Her forwardness matches her personality so it’s not completely random. Still stood out out a little.
@@ButterPrime I think you should shy away from calling black characters evil... it's kind of offensive. But I can tell where Grace's character is coming from
I feel like the weirdness of the numbers in seasons 2-4 (the broken number, the absurd number of simon, and the relative quickness of the number change for the boys in the end) was meant to lead into a broader consideration that the train is in some ways just bullshit arbitrary suffering. The way inequality of denizens is not resolved fully, the way Amelia still has reservations about denizens, the way One was so cold and almost villainous in season 4. It was all building up this systemic critique that was just cut short. As far as simon's number goes he's basically just irredeemable because he's fallen into a severely supremacist worldview and is trying to build his own little fascist cult. It still shouldn't have been that high but again the numbers are arbitrary
my favorite thing about Owen’s plans for the show was that he wanted 8 books to really nail in the infinity symbolism. really hope he can make it happen one day… if Adventure Time and ATLA can have comebacks there’s a tiny bit of hope right?

To me, Book 3 felt like the one that got to really let loose and show what the team could really do, and from what Book 5 was planned to be I honestly think it would’ve ended up being the best, up to that point at least.
Those are just my takes though, I’m thankful there are still content creators talking about the show, and I truly believe its revival is inevitable, the social media trending we did was certainly not unnoticed, and having a show with this level of writing, concept, world building, and inward-looking depth, I think it’s too rich a project to not pick up again

Dude thanks for this. Amazing show. Tops my list of all time animated shows. Great video. Love the enthusiasm. Definitely gonna check out more stuff.
Beautiful video, I adore it!! Keep up the good work :)
Edit: also the “no child entry point” excuse has the same energy as Disney cancelling the owl house because it wasn’t “Disney brand” when we all know that was bullshit too
I'm holding up hope that it will get picked up again.... :(
You may disagree with me but Book 4 is my favorite and I'm happy that the show ended with this season even though it's weaker than the others, honestly I'm very happy that we had such a happy and well-developed season after a season as dramatic and traumatizing as Book 3
This show deserved to be completed. I will stop having hope for some studio to pick it up and let the show continue. When I heard that CN wouldn’t let it continue I was hoping that Max would take over and let it keep airing on there. That show probably lead to so many ppl getting a Max account
i miss dis movieeeee
i meant showwww
I thought i was the only one who thought it was weird Simons number was so high
Season 4 had so much potential, but I kinda hate the dialogue for it. Especially the climax of the last episode. Tho I love Kazz, she slays.
I stopped watching after season 2 because I knew that if I kept watching they'd feel bad again.
Great writing. Genuinely how you're supposed to write mystery.
Love hearing your opinions on the different books bc it’s interesting to hear an opinion totally different from mine, personal ranking would be
1. Book 3
2. Book 2
3. Book 4
4. Book 1
You should make a video on Glitch Techs at some point.
Ok the fact of Book 4 being a planned downpoint makes more sense. I really hope Infinity Train gets to be completed eventually. I never got the chance to watch it when it was on (Missed the first two seasons on CN, never had HBO max) but I watched it recently and it's SO GOOD
Since most characters The Owl House are artisticly inspired by those in in Infinity Train, Philip possibly was inspired by Simon.
I wish yhey would bring this back on Max
I am glad to watch this video 🎉
Bring it back
i toottallyyy agreeeee with you in all what you said
I can't wait for HBO to copystrike you for using the music from the show although they already threw out the show to the garbage, just an ultimate dick move to fans of Infinity train
Also about Cat being horny for Jessie, i believe it was forshadowing for the flashback of her being friends with Simon

Nice! what are your opinions on Summer Camp Island?
Haven’t actually seen that one yet. It’s on my list for sure, though.
My favorite season is book 1
God I hate the injustice animation gets
Where can I watch I want to rewatch so bad
TRAIN TO NOWHEEERE
Book 1 (10/10)
Book 2 (6/10)
Book 3 (10/10)
Book 4 (4/10)
I don’t like book 4. I want infinity train to continue. I want this show to appear in Netflix or Hulu.
last season is a gay couple, change my mind
Why do they always have to kill our favorite cartoon shows that we love but stay with just boring baby shows
How does the 8:56 shot confirm the train's reality? Please forgive me. It has been YEARS since I got to enjoy this masterpiece 😅
i toottallyyy agreeeee with you in all what you said
