Judy, thank you so much for sharing you wisdom and experience with us! I'm getting ready to make 1 large and 4 small brooch bouquets for my daughter's wedding. I'll be watching your other videos as well! Thanks again!
OMG the drill tip. I got the "genious" idea of starting to make the bouquet a week before the wedding, it would so not be possible without this. Thank you madam, you are instantly and forever my favorite person ^__^
I have watched every brooch bouquet video out there, and this one gives the best tips by far! Genius to use the drill! And taping the handle the way you do does make for s very strong and secure handle. Well done!
Hi Judy, I made my daughters brooch bouquet for her wedding. My first attempt. I did a lot of research before I started. I took a lot of tips/suggestions from many sites and put a few of my own touches/additions. Your drill tip was the best time saver by far. I have pictures of my finished bouquet if you would like to see it. My daughter is getting married in an Irish castle next month, so to make the bouquet a little more regal, I used a silver tussy messy for the base. Used a lot of family brooches and some store bought. So pleased and thanks for the tips!!!
I'm a Hobby Lobby addict too. Thanks for sharing. Looks very time consuming with the wiring and I will definitely be using that drill. I got some of my old pieces at flea markets, thrift stores, yard sales, etc.
OMG JUDY!!! JUDY!!! you have saved my friggin life girl! my client wanted a 10-12 inch bouquet of ALL brooches so you can imagine the time it was taking me until i stumbled upon this video. DEFINITELY one of the most informative vids out there. thanks lady, you're a life saver!
Thanks so much for this great video. Your tips about using the hydrangeas and incorporating the brooches as well as the tip for using the drill to twist the wires were great help in creating my daughters Bouquet. She got numerous compliments
This absolutely is THE BEST!!!!! My daughter's wedding is in 8 days; she thinks b/c my undergraduate degree is in horticulture that I must know something about making bouquets, boutonnieres, etc. I DON'T. I made the "mistake" of asking her if she had considered a brooch bouquet; she said that's what she really wanted but there was no way on this wedding's budget. That set me on a TH-cam journey & I found your great and wonderful video. I found a few brooches at a local flea market; checked eBay & Amazon then went to FancyBrooches.com. I ordered over a weekend - 2 whole weeks before the wedding - and there was a glitch at the site. I called Saul on the next business day; he fixed it; then delivered ordered brooches 3 DAYS before his estimated arrival date. The drill is the bomb!!!!! I spent a couple of hours cutting wire to have 'em ready and was able to create 6 "stems" in less than an hour including the learning curve. eBay is full of brooches that have to come from China, and God only knows what sorts of issues could come from that. I've already had requests to make brooch bouquets for others. I'll still check local flea markets & thrift stores, but my primary source is going to be FancyBrooches.com for sure. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this great video and all the tips that cut not only the learning curve but also the time required to produce a great product.
Thank you so much for making this video! I wish I would have seen the wire twisting idea before I did all of them by hand, but the tape and assembly part has been a real lifesaver! Thank you SO much! :)
You just saved me a million hours with that drill tip! I JUST started adding the wires and I was thinking "There MUST be a better way!" I am still trying to figure out what to use as my base, though, since I was vintage-looking cream and burgundy lace instead of silk flowers to go with my vintage brooches/earrings and steampunk theme.
That website you described that they have the BROOCHES, www.fancybrooches.com is no longer in business. Did I spell it wrong? Your daughters bouquet is STUNNING! Lucky bride!💐
I've been watching tutorials for about a week to get ready for my best friends bouquet that I'm making. Yours has been invaluable and time saving! I'm subscribing based on this video! great job thank you for being so helpful.
I was really scared of making my own bouquet! (I am an Scientist and Engineer and not artsy type at all)... But after watching your video, I am like, hey, I have a drill I can use and this will be sooooooo easy!! Thank you soooo much Judy! :) You literally saved me like 7 days worth of twisting! :)
Your video was by far the most helpful for how I wanted to make my bouquet! You save me months with the drill idea, it even had my FH fascinated. So glad you made this...thanks..I am even sharing it with friends! Have a great one!
This is an amazing video. Your tips have helped me out a lot. I do have a question for you though. On the bouquet that you did for your daughter that showed almost all brooches how did you maintain the round shape? Any tips you can share on that? I am using a hydragena as the base flower. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
+Michelle Samuels , So sorry that I haven't responded. I'm sure that by now you've already finished the bouquet, but just in case/for anyone else that might be interested. I simply bend the wire to fit into the round shape. If one is sticking farther out, just slip it down from the bottom. You'll see how easily they create and maintain the roundness!
An excellent video. The best one in my opinion on making a brooch bouquet. My daughter wants a teardrop shape for hers. I'm wondering if you have any advice in achieving that shape. Also how to finish off the underside when it's a teardrop shape. I might make a video myself but will give you credit and post a link to yours. I probably won't start until November. I'm still gathering brooches. I'm buying them from eBay, from China. So far excellent quality and reasonably fast shipping to Australia.
This is the best tutorial! And I've watched a lot. Going to do my own bouquet for my wedding and I've never done anything like this before. Question: how do you start and secure the flowers, prior to adding the brooch wires?
Hi Judy love your work! Attempting to make my own for my wedding December 1st. Was wondering what gauge wire you use? Any specific brand? I purchase a silver but since it's my first time I've been playing with finding the right spot to place my wire on the brooch and it seems as if the color is rubbing off on my fingers and I'm losing the shine where it should blend right in with the brooch.
Hey Judy! Thank you for your tricks and tips! I started putting the brooches and wires together, and its a 22 gauge Bead Smith craft wire, and We are thinking That the wire is going to be too flimsy, and my fiancé and I were wondering exactly what kind of wire you are using. Any help will be much appreciated, Thank you so much Judy, Liz
+Judy Cotrone im not sure how to post pictures of it on here but i posted pictures of it on my instagram @etroberilumps c: i think it turned out great and it was so easy to make the flowers with the drill thank you for sharing 💜
Have you considered wrapping the handle with the ribbon of rhinestones which would make it all go together so much better than it presently is. It would be so very elegant looking.
Hi Judy love your video , so easy to follow .I was wondering if your daughters bouquet had a flower as a base or is it just brooches ? my daughter wants it to be onlky brooches any suggestions ? please help Debbie
+Gene Welyhorskyj Hey, Gene! Yes, it did have a silk hydrangea as the base, but there were so many brooches, that you couldn't see the flower at all! Good luck and have fun!
Hi Judy, your vedio is so helpful. I got one question and I do really need you help. Thanks in advance. What is the twister machine's name? What kind of website I can buy one from? Thanks!
+Liang Helen Hey, Liang! I just used a basic power drill. I removed the drill bit and just used the open hole area that the drill bit goes into. I purchased it at Home Depot. Just about any store carries them. Good luck!
+Judy Cotrone Hi Judy thanks for the info. I am working on the ribbon bouquet now. the brooch bouquet comes later. I will use your wise tip when I am working on it. Again, thanks a lot!
Love your videos Judy.Iv watched a million times ..lol...Need your advice on what wire your using? I bought 22 gauge and it seems weak. what do you use? Also when i looked at the flowers at Michaels they seemed to fall apart...What brand do you use? Thanks so much. Love your work!
+Lisa Monette Hey, Lisa! As far as the wire, the lower the gauge, the thicker the wire. I use 22 gauge, and it works great. Just don't make the wire stems too long. I use whatever Michael's has available for the hydrangea. I've never had a problem with them falling apart. Good luck and have fun!
I did my bouquet back in 2007 with my arm in cast. I set on my bed and but the drill between my feet. I would tighten the wire down a bit then put the ends in the drill. Tighten down the drill and hit the button. Slowly at first then faster to the end. Back then I had not seen bouquets made with brooches but they were made with individual beads. I made around 700 for my bouquet.
Hi! I love your technique but my bride is wanting a cascading bouquet...not so round. Can you give me an idea of how do so that, what firm to use, etc. Thanks!!
Can you tell me if you used a flower in the one you made for your daughter?? It looks like all brooches. How did you get the nice round shape of it?? It's extremely beautiful
You have got to tell me that name of that drill. I know that I can get any one but I would like to get that one. I am so excited to see that you shared that tip! Oh my goodness. That's the best tip anywhere for dealing with the wire.
+Judy Cotrone Your bouquets are beautiful. I like your style a lot. Thank you for sharing the drill info. !!! Idon't have much time to shop or a drill. I KNOW how hard it is to twist the wire by hand. Thank you.
+Ilana Gardin Sorry for delay, and sorry, I don't sell them. I hope you found a good brooch creator by now. If not, there are some really good designers on ETSY!
Where are you getting the hydrangea stems? I am having a difficult time finding them in stores or even on line. What diameter of stems do think work best. TIA
+CouponingwithJani Hey, Jani! I purchase them at Michael's Arts & Crafts. I'm not sure what the diameter is, I just buy the largest size that's available. Hope this helps! Good luck!
+Judy Cotrone Thank you so much for telling us about this website. You're right, they do have great prices and a wonderful selection, and now I don't have to drive all over town searching!
+Dzvic Sorry for the delay! Yes, you absolutely can make a corsage! I made one for my son-in-law and added a small vintage heart shaped brooch, with a photo of his grand dad! Came out super sweeet!
You are so right about that Power Drill. It came in very handy and is a LOT faster than twisting by hand.
Judy, thank you so much for sharing you wisdom and experience with us! I'm getting ready to make 1 large and 4 small brooch bouquets for my daughter's wedding. I'll be watching your other videos as well! Thanks again!
Best video yet. Thank u so much for showing easier more secure ways of creating the bouquet.

+Allison Wright Hey Allison. I just picked up the largest hydrangea that they had at my local Michael's Arts and Crafts store. Good luck!!
LOVE THIS!!!!...gonna make for sure!!!!
Great video My question Do you remove and wire each cluster when using hydrangea"?
+Louise Stevens Each brooch is wired separately, then stuck into the hydrangea randomly. I hope that helps.

Hey, this was super helpful. How did you make your daughters look more like a ball?
+setterchick005 A lot of bending to get the brooches into a tight ball shape.
Marvelous! Thanks!
Hi Judy, what kind of wire do you use? I bought some galvanised wire from hardware store, but thought maybe the wrong kind.
Hi!
I love your technique but my bride is wanting a cascading bouquet...not so round. Can you give me an idea of how do so that, what firm to use, etc. Thanks!!

+Mollie Moore I hope it's not too late to answer. I bought the flowers at Michael's Arts and Crafts!
The silk flowers take a huge chunk of my budget. Where can you find them cheap?
great tips! i love it!
+drew& amanda (amandainwonderland)
Beautiful, what size wire did you use, thank you.
22 gauge
How much do you sell your bouquets for? Do you take requests as for colors?
+Ilana Gardin Sorry for delay, and sorry, I don't sell them. I hope you found a good brooch creator by now. If not, there are some really good designers on ETSY!
How many brooches would you use in one bouquet like the one you made your daughter?
Where are you getting the hydrangea stems? I am having a difficult time finding them in stores or even on line. What diameter of stems do think work best. TIA
+CouponingwithJani Hey, Jani! I purchase them at Michael's Arts & Crafts. I'm not sure what the diameter is, I just buy the largest size that's available. Hope this helps! Good luck!
