In a lot of cases, they were editorially mandated.

The Lupine thing kind of seems to have been created out of the original concept for where they were going with Wolverine early on as a mutant wolverine rather than human...but was dropped before they actually brought it out there.
I'm a huge fan of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver

The writers that retconned the Maximoff twins are true Marvel villains imo, so are the writers that keep taking OG Wally West off the board (his humor is part of why he's a fan favorite).
Scarlett witch has Chaos powers which often have unforseen consequences. You can simply say that when she warped reality with " no more mutants the unintended consequences were that she retconned her origins because she was so choked up by her disappointment in her father and mutants in general.
yeah, but her powers were copied after that by Hope, who can ONLY copy mutant powers.
Marvel, enough with the retcons, PLEASE!!
I hate how marvel characters turn from good to evil on a dime.
I think part of the retcon for Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver is they also never knew how to describe Wanda as a mutant anymore.
The fact that the Falcon's retcon didn't make the top ten list, is pretty much proof that the writing in the past couple of decades has been horrendous. What was widely considered to be one of the worse retcons of all time, doesn't even get a mention any more.

I know! It makes the lupine thing even stupider...but to be fair, Wolverine isnt an actual wolverine either so
They also had cat-like mutants Feral and Thorn supposedly be members of the lupine race. Cats are not wolves. It’s like they decided to claim all the animalistic mutants were lupine whether or not they had anything to do with wolves or other wild dogs.
I don’t know anybody that actually accepts the Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch retcon as “canon”. It’s like everyone is just waiting for it to get reversed
Only in the movies is Quicksilver more associated with X-Men than Avengers. He's far more associated with Avengers in the comics.
I don't mind Diana being a demi-god, as the idea of the Greek gods infusing life into clay is a bit much, but hated that they turned the Amazons into callous killers. I preferred George Perez's origin over all.

Instead of adding these retcons to the mainstream Canon, they could've made them for different universes(or more importantly, discard them completely)😑

It's also myth accurate. Dude birthed a fair amount of gods and demigods that are considered benevolent.
I think Wanda warped reality and turned off her x-gene. That’s why it’s possible for magneto is her father. She really doesn’t have a biological father and that’s how he can be scarlet witch and quicksilver.

Fox movie studio owned the word "mutant". To use Wanda and Pietro in the Marvel movies, they had to come up with another way to create their powers. That is where the Infinity Stones came into play. They also had to change their origins in the comics. That is where The High Evolutionary came in. They were born on Wondagore(?) Mountain.
I would have prefered if Diana's father was just a simple man, no great heroe or powerful entity that met her mother when she was visting the world of men.
Wonder Woman's full saga in New 52 was awesome! Being the daughter of Zeus is way better than just being created from earth and sand like a gollem!

They will claim Tim was always bisexual even though there wasn't a single hint of him being gay (let's stop saying bi because he will never date women again) for 30 years prior to Bendis getting the character
Then Bendis ruined the amazing family dynamic of Superman, Lois and Jon as we saw Superman teaching his son how to be a hero. Not to mention ruining the fun Super Sons pairing he had with Damian
They aged up Jon solely to make him gay so DC could pat themselves on the back for having a gay Superman. They even had him date a terrorist and be super cool with hearing what his boyfriend and his group did

Yeah. She knew Peter couldn't choose between them, so she made herself the one. I think she knew he'd never blame her deep down and would see it as proof of their love. She might have also believed she'd still be able to be there for him even if it wasn't as his wife.

Ok hear me out, Magneto is retconned to be their father again but only Quicksilver is a mutant. This way they could have their cake and eat it too. Wanda doesn't need to be a mutant with her powers
key part of that retcon is Hope using Wanda's powers, though. Hope can only copy the powers of other mutants.
I guess if I were a character in the DC world and heard about what Dr. Light did. he'd wish he was never born. the things I'd do would make stephen king sick.

I don’t mind past iceman being gay there is also a gay Wolverine from another universe but they didn’t retcon the original for that.
Punisher's symbol wasn't appropriated by anyone. God forbid someone you don't like buy and display the merchandise you sell.
the Punisher thing isn't even a retcon. The retcon will be when it's revealed that the Hand created fakes. and OMD seriously needs to be undone. It almost looked like they were gonna do what MJ said and they'd find their way to each other once again, but then... Paul.
And so now instead new retcons are needed lol
I still hate Joe Q. Haven't read Spider-man since. Just an awful way to finish J. Michael Straczynski's run.
Although not a fan of Azzarello, I must admit I've enjoyed his run on WW. I've appreciated this new and bold take on the character and her background.

One of my most hated retcon in marvel is making Kamala Khan Ms Marvel a Mutant 😑 and I am a Mutant Fan. It just makes her a side character tbh of the xmen
It’s like, “So let me get this straight…there are all these characters with powers and technology to detect mutants all over the world and yet none of them ever detected she was a Mutant?!”
@@karaoconnoraliasraidra to be fair, Kamala's X gene isn't activated so technically she is still an Inhuman. So maybe that's why she is undetectable.
