I could use that beauty on my property. Deer control my choices, so very deer resistant is very appealing. I hope the dwarf becomes more widely available.
Looking forward to hearing about how to get cuttings in the future. I'm just a few miles from you (Harnett County) and I'd love to have a couple on the front corners of my foundation!
Beautiful but why do the flowers have this pinkish hue to them when seen from afar? Would planting a white crepe myrtle behind the purple one make the purple flowers stand out more?
How can I make my crape myrtle be a tree? It's fairly new, I've been told to braid the branches, put screws through them (not a good idea I think) also I've been told to tie them with a tee shirt (that would hold in moisture wouldn't it?) I have 2 40+ year old ones in light pink, and they are tall and big I love them. The one I am asking about is a dark pink, and where it was planted it would look better as a tree. I'd appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks
Thank you for this video, Jim! I grow many varieties and sizes of crape myrtles here in VA near Rivhmond. Even with significant pruning in late winter some do not bloom. Any ideas of what I should do? They are in good sun.
@@JimPutnam Jim -you are a great teacher, have a great channel, and what you just said is nonsense! i think you should no longer say crape myrtle is deer resistant.
Gorgeous! This variety would make very friendly privacy hedging. Who could complain about looking at this?!
No doubt
I have a dynamite crepe myrtle and our yard is so pretty with it! It’s also a tree form not a shrub
I like the 2 minute format. It's a good idea.
Thank you for the feedback.
2.24 seconds we were lied to lol
Beautiful. Very informative 2:00 minutes. You’ve captured a niche that keeps attention and creates attention. Great job Jim! Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much
Love that color. Thanks for sharing Jim.
Thanks for watching
Yes, I saw this in one of your recent Q&A videos you do on the front porch. It was behind you and was in full bloom. Beautiful Crape Myrtle!!!
Yes, it is the backdrop of a lot of videos

So pretty. I want six of these in my yard.
It is a good one
OMG!!! so beautiful
It is a beautiful variety. The color is different depending on the way the light is hitting it.

Do you grow the' Miss Sandra ' cultivar?
Very nice. I will state turned on how to get me a piece.
Looking forward to the propagation video of these. Thanks Jim 🌱
I know you’ll be moving soon but I wondered if you ever got around to making the new pathway on the other side of your house?
I haven't. It is likely going to be pine straw. I found some used bricks, but I am going g to keep them for the new place.
Are you going to make cuttings available?
Would you be able to keep a crepe mertle as a shrub less than 1m tall and still get flowers?
Just pick a dwarf variety. The regular size ones can't be kept that small
2 minutes 24 seconds we were lied to lol
Can Crape Myrtle grow in zone 5 ?
No, there are some listed for zone 6. I know people will pile wheatstraw around them in the winter and protect them some.
U said zones how do I found what zone I’m in
Just search with your zip code. Or the just look on the horticultural zone map that the USDA maintains.
👋😀
👍
They are NOT deer resistant. Deer browse all the lower leaves!
Yes, they are rarely damaged by deer. Not everyone tells all deer about it though. Rutgers maintains a great list of deer resistant plants.

@@fordguyfordguy Resistant means they are not palatable to deer but deer will eat anything that does not have thorns such as cactus and mesquite.
