I think one of the creepier parts of this is that no matter what you do, whether you show that you're scared of him, act nice to him, act grouchy to him, be cautious with getting home, etc, he's always going to be outside your window. Like, nothing the player could have done would have prevented his already very present obsession and the fact that he's likely already known where you've lived for a long time
i like how this also helps us understand it's not the victim's fault. if a stalker is already dedicated to... well... stalk you, he won't stop no matter what you do, how you treat them, how cautious you get. it doesn't work.
Shoutout to every single last person in this comment section telling and detailing all the tactics and forms of manipulation our stalker is using so that nobody falls for them. You guys' advice can truly potentially save someone's life.

Because only serial killers are nice to strangers. In seriousness though, someone who intends to do you any sort of harm will most likely seem "nice" and/or "charming." But judging on demeanor is ultimately futile, and blinds you to the real signs; like fishing for information or trying to get you to go somewhere, for example.
18:21 I ve just relized something. I dont know how much this tradition holds up in other countries, but in mine we have weird rules about the number of given roses. One rose on date mean "I like you, Im interested in you" , three roses is meaning for loyality and deep love ...But recieving a even number of roses is for funerals and tragic occasions, aaaand especially two roses, yeah, they are putting on coffins and graves. My theory with Peter is that he's a bit aware he's in a game. At the beginning of meeting him, if you decide to be rude to him, he mentioned why else would you be here? It implies that's the only thing the player is here for. 👀
I took it as not literally a game but maybe he acknowledges he's in a "romance story" but his knowledge of the script and tropes has caused him to start getting weird.

You know the game is good when you end up having compassion for Peter. In the "accept the date and the roses" route, he really come about as a shy guy with issues of self esteem who end up idealising someone and trying his best, and the "reject the rose" route make you really feel for the guy, but each time you get cold showered by him watching you sleep, reminding you that the situation is dangerous. Devs if you read this, keep up the good work, you're awesome !

If someone asks that, say that you just took a small rest and that you're actually going to your dad's (or boyfriend's, or older brother's, or uncle's) house, and that he's waiting for you to come soon, and that he's gonna get worried if you don't get there soon so now you gotta go. I know that we shouldn't feel sympathy/empathy towards him, but I can't help it: My name (well, my _initials_ ) were made into a literal joke as a child: They're E.T., (It also didn't help that my skin color's like E.T. too) so all my classmates taunted me, for it, saying E.T. _go_ home and "the creature/freak". So I can actually relate to being laughed at for the name YB was given.

18:40 Two roses with a black ribbon? I'm no flower expert, but an even amount of flowers is usually reserved for funerals and condolensces. The black ribbon only makes it worse. Either I'm looking way too much into it, or it's creepy foreshadowing.
I'm a big fan of symbolism so I looked into it some more! Rose's are often used as a symbol for virginity(specifically when deflowering is a subject). Their literal mean is "I love you" the color red is tied with passion, love, hate and sexual desire. The black ribbon is a symbol of sadness/ mourning. So mabey some foreshadowing when the erotic part of the game comes up? Idk just wanted to share the info. Personally I think that is less likely since it hits more into a darker area of sexual stuff which is out of character for Peter. He may be a absolute nutcase but he is very respectful about consent (confirmed by the creator). Edit: the meaning of two red Rose's is mutual love and affection. Even numbers are reserved for funerals, condolences and sometimes, for people in hospitals. I think the even number was intentional as well, though maybe not in the way I perceive it.

Peter is such an interesting character. No matter how you respond, he can manipulate the player easily. Even the route where the player is a b!tch he immediately makes himself ultra submissive so that he doesn't look like a threat and someone the player could use so that the player wouldn't mind being around him. There were other great moments as well. Like how he embarrassed the player by saying you shouldn't yell in the store so that the player wouldn't make a fuss. Or how he calls himself a loser to make himself look a little pathetic to endear himself to the player. I can't wait to see more.
When he says he's your boyfriend and you were here for that or that it's a game when you keep rejecting him, he's actually breaking the 4th wall and saying that to the player. And also when you reject him in the florist shop his hand starts bleeding as you leave
Kind of surprised boyfriend can have stuff he dislikes about your character then just always 100% agreeing and liking whatever you do. I am curious if you could actually make him not want to be around you without being a jerk about it.

That could be kinda funny. He just come up to you, after having stalked you or whatever it is he does, and is like; ‘yeah... this isn’t gonna work out... look, I know you’re into me and all but... I’m gonna need you to stop following me, ‘Kay?’
On the first choice, where you rejected him every time . In the flower shop where you walk away.. in the cut scene it fades into another cut, where you can see blood on his hands from clenching his fist over the thorned rose. His expression may be blank but you can tell that in reality he doesn't take the rejection well and is just putting on an act. And when you walk away in the park it says that his expression was blank and he wasn't displaying the same shy and timid personality he was when you were talking to him. You can tell from the beginning of the story that he isn't mentally stable by the subtle hints and the paths you choose. He may display no red flags in his face but you don't need his expression to see his intention, he tells you enough through his physical actions. He is so focused on getting you to like them that he is blinded to his actions.. I know everyone here already knows this but I just thought I'd point it out .
Well he is sorta self aware he’s in a game he says “I’m your boyfriend, isn’t that why your here?” as if he knows he’s in some sort of dating simulator.
YB knows this is a game, and he was literally made to love us. He is the titular "your boyfriend" and why would you (the player) pay for and play a game with that title and NOT want him? It'd be like signing up for a blind date and then getting mad at the other person when they act like this is a date.
If this game's purpose is to make the player feel REALLY uncomfortable, then I think it's done its job thus far... I genuinely feel so creeped out, but at the same time, I really wanna see where this goes.

this is literally creepy entitled dude 101 with the fact that he - refuses to take no for an answer - guilt trips the object of his affection when they politely turn him down - thinks being nice or obsessively compiling details about someone's life entitles him to romantic attention - acts like the person he's stalking is being dramatic or paranoid when they show discomfort or anger at being stalked
That lines up a lot with the ‘nice guys finish last’ thingie. Even if you are the nicest person on the planet is asking you out, you have every right to politely turn them down without being the bad guy in the situation. You should never be forced into a relationship that you don’t want, and if that person makes you feel like that, then it’s just unhealthy for you two to be together. Remember: A nice person isn’t necessarily a good person
i love how this isn't just 2 clear cut routes where you either go along with everything or reject all his advences. The asshole route was a surprise and I'm honestly most interested in that one
Yeah, being an asshole to him all the time would definitely break whatever is keeping him from straight up kidnapping or killing the MC. That route could get gory much more quickly, although all routes would eventually reach a very dark point
I honestly think the "friendzone" route you could call it, is the most interesting as you dont assume something that could very well be a coincidence is a stalker or be way too affectionate towards a total stranger, its more "chill" you could say.

I think it could hint that he knows it's a game and it could also be that he is so delusional and thinks you are already together or that you already love him because yall go on the "same routes" and thinks that you wanted him to notice you
It looks like a bunch of easter eggs to me. Like naming the stalker after yourself, the ensuing dialogue sequence doesn't fit with the game at all, even if your character is going down the 'Mood' route (where your character is an ass) the cheeky dialogue remains the same. To me, it looks like naming the stalker has no impact on the game unless you call him 'Peter', so it's all meta-humour; a harmless easter egg.
I think the weirdest and yet most accurate thing about this game for me is just... How accurately it builds up the horror aspect of being stalked from the most unassuming of encounters to moments where chalking it up to coincidence just does NOT do the situation justice. Like something in your gut KNOWS that something isn't right but you can't bring yourself to react accordingly due to several factors, the largest of all being that it isn't "obvious or clear" enough. Being stalked isn't like being chased by Michael Meyers or from some monstrous being that you can run through the streets from, screaming at the top of your lungs for help. Nine times out of ten even, Most people, unless they're that close to you and really REALLY paying attention would never know, actually. A lot of times, even the target of the Stalker doesn't know until the latter chooses to make themselves known and by that Point, it's too late...
exactly. my first stalker was an emotioanlly abusive ex boyfriend of mine. i didn't even notice I was being followed until my best friend saw him follow me home from school, as she was my neighbor. he easily followed me for the rest of the year and I had no idea until she told me. the last time I saw him, he had been circling my block without my knowledge. i went outside to sit on the house swingset, and he trapped me in a conversation I felt too scared to escape. my family were just feet from me, but he wasn't doing anything that was particularly predatory, and i was terrified that if i made him angry, he'd find a new way to hurt me. we went to the same highschool together. i cannot explain the absolute terror i felt when i knew he was watching me. he wasn't doing anything but looking at me, but i could just,,, feel his fucking eyes and it made me vicerally uncomfortable.
I'm actually surprised you can make Yb upset at you beyond calling him his real name and/or rejecting his offer to date him. That makes me wonder if it's possible to make him actually HATE you....and how that would turn out.
From what I've read from the creator, their programmer added that conversation into the game and has stated she thinks it's too out of character for YB and doesn't consider it canon.
Honestly itd be intresting and if he threatened or hurt you , it would make sense for mc to be scared to use certain Diloage or discourage the rude route

I see a lot of comments talking about how they find Peter cute. It's not wrong to do so, but guys *please keep in mind:* Shyness and awkwardness are endearing traits because they are *_associated_* with empathy. If someone presents themselves as empathic, we subconsciously assume they could be a loving, attentive partner (so shyness/awk can be v attractive). However, since we know Peter is a stalker, Peter's personality is *not truly genuine.* This is bc in order to insert himself and _stay_ in his victim's life, he knows has to be appealing to them. Like most manipulators, he's going to craft the image he thinks *you'll* find the most appealing. so it's not wrong you find him cute, because that's exactly what Peter wants you to do. there are plenty of resources to help you detecting manipulators (esp licensed professionals), but guys please reflect on what could make YOU vulnerable to others' manipulation. have a great day and stay safe yall

I've been thinking about the rose and it starts to add up The rose indicates the love, pure and simple. But the rose has no thorns. The say ''there is no rose without thorns'' means that in order to enjoy something that is beautiful , you must endure the pain that comes with it. So since there are no torns, he's professing love that has no pain in it. But then there is the ribbon which means the darkness with in.

I keep thinking about this, as someone who's been in creepy situations, in particular the last bit of the route where you go along with it is so uncomfortable. I can't even quite put my finger on why, it's just so well done. Feels so incredibly skeezy in between the lines of everything he says, even though on paper it's just a really rushed relationship.

I think because typically predatory people or potential abusers tend to pin point vulnerable individuals and push them into a relationship quickly so that the individual doesnt spot the red flags as easily. They tend to have whirlwind romances that go from point a to point b really fast. My mom experienced that with my father. They also pepper you with a LOT of gifts and compliments (aka love bombing) that will make you warm up to them which also causes your defences to go down.

The protagonist puts themselves in so much danger over and over its driving me nuts. TRUST YOUR GUT. If someone is making you feel uncomfortable, tell everyone, your friends, your loved ones, where you are, what the person looks like, what youre both wearing, and get yourself to safety. Dont put yourself in a vulnerable location if youre feeling unsafe. Dont take unnecessary risks. If someone reaches out to touch or grab you, MAKE A COMMOTION. Sometimes being rude is OK if its in the interest of YOUR SAFETY. Its usually over the span of months or years, but manipulative people will target emotionally vulnerable victims and groom them before digging their claws into every aspect of their life. They will twist your words to make you seem like you always "overreact". They'll manipulate you into isolating yourself from others, rather than encouraging your friendships. They become their victims partner and get off on the power they have over them. You have to fight back and sometimes that means you have to be cold, or rude, or loud. Of course they dont want you to fight back. Theyre a parasite feeding off of you.
I think you took the game too seriously, this is an ER*TIC horror game....it's not meant to be a realistic game with healthy relationships, it's meant to be fucked up and sexy at the same time, u know, it's a k*nk that can be safely explored in fiction.

Thats what some predators do, they feed on people's empathy and abuse it. This is also how a lot of people fall into abusive relationship and can't get out of it (I don't blame them its a tricky situation) I know this is fictional but be wary of it irl its not worth it just because you feel bad for them. Because of the jumpscare, it's safe too assume that Naruto 'Jim' Sephiroth is the stalker, but I think it would be interesting if he was a red herring. I think it would be cool if the game was complex enough that if you dated Naruto 'Jim' Sephiroth, then he wouldn't kidnap you or break into your room at night, but become abusive like "What? Are you trying to tell people you're an easy lay by wearing that?" in order to break you down and manipulate you into staying.
My theory of this is that “boyfriend” mentions being a product tester. And coming from another theory he is aware he’s in a game. But I want to build on this, he is testing the game you are part in. And let’s kinda switch over this “aware” part. He realized you knew you were in a game, that’s why he was so surprised you rejected him in what I assume is a dating sim. Hired to play as a “boyfriend” and him being so surprised you knew his name made him scared, and mentions a “girlfriend” when you do. makes me assume there’s another “tester” playing this game. Who I could assume be equally as crazy, but is currently ignorant of your awareness of being in a game or is acting against the script. Edit: I also have some spoilers to build on this theory but idk if everyone would like that

Actually, that wasn't meant to be canon apparently. Someone asked them about that and this is what they had to say on their asks. "(( it’s an added script that our programmer tossed in during development. It’s something I wanted to talk with them about as it is WAY out of YB’s personality trait to be so harsh towards you. There are some male yanderes in otome games and stuff. They're actually pretty popular lol. There are the classics that get brought up every time you look for them and some you have to search around for. Like Toma from Amnesia Memories (He's basically the reason Cage Memes exist, add Otome to the start of that if you google or you'll just get Nick Cage memes lol).

This game genuinely makes me so uncomfortable bc being a woman, there's usually NEVER anything good about a strange man approaching you and making advances like that. I've also experienced subtle manipulation like what the stranger is doing, like making you feel bad for not accepting your date or trying to shush you at the store. It's just...UGHHH it puts me so on edge, and that aspect of the game is done well.

It’s already happening, unfortunately. I get people find he’s cute, hell, I think he’s cute. But the fact he actively stalks the player in different routes turns me off. The fact he’s so possessive and obsessive. I don’t care how good someone looks, if they literally stalk me, I’m no longer attracted. Literally even looking up the name of this game, you’ll find people drawing self insert ship art or animation memes trying to make this guy seem quirky and cute but psychotic. This game isn't anything but dramatic irony to a certain extent. We know what's going on but at the same time we have a case of an "unreliable narrator" because it's obvious that Peter/YB has been stalking us for a long, long time.

I think one of the creepier parts of this is that no matter what you do, whether you show that you're scared of him, act nice to him, act grouchy to him, be cautious with getting home, etc, he's always going to be outside your window.

Rose's are often used as a symbol for virginity(specifically when deflowering is a subject). Their literal mean is "I love you" the color red is tied with passion, love, hate and sexual desire. The black ribbon is a symbol of sadness/ mourning.
So mabey some foreshadowing when the erotic part of the game comes up? Idk just wanted to share the info. Personally I think that is less likely since it hits more into a darker area of sexual stuff which is out of character for Peter. He may be a absolute nutcase but he is very respectful about consent (confirmed by the creator).

Peter is such an interesting character. No matter how you respond, he can manipulate the player easily. Even the route where the player is a b!tch he immediately makes himself ultra submissive so that he doesn't look like a threat and someone the player could use so that the player wouldn't mind being around him. There were other great moments as well. Like how he embarrassed the player by saying you shouldn't yell in the store so that the player wouldn't make a fuss. Or how he calls himself a loser to make himself look a little pathetic to endear himself to the player. I can't wait to see more.

On the first choice, where you rejected him every time . In the flower shop where you walk away.. in the cut scene it fades into another cut, where you can see blood on his hands from clenching his fist over the thorned rose. His expression may be blank but you can tell that in reality he doesn't take the rejection well and is just putting on an act. And when you walk away in the park it says that his expression was blank and he wasn't displaying the same shy and timid personality he was when you were talking to him. You can tell from the beginning of the story that he isn't mentally stable by the subtle hints and the paths you choose. He may display no red flags in his face but you don't need his expression to see his intention, he tells you enough through his physical actions. He is so focused on getting you to like them that he is blinded to his actions.. I know everyone here already knows this but I just thought I'd point it out .

Yeah, being an asshole to him all the time would definitely break whatever is keeping him from straight up kidnapping or killing the MC. That route could get gory much more quickly, although all routes would eventually reach a very dark point

Like naming the stalker after yourself, the ensuing dialogue sequence doesn't fit with the game at all, even if your character is going down the 'Mood' route (where your character is an ass) the cheeky dialogue remains the same. To me, it looks like naming the stalker has no impact on the game unless you call him 'Peter', so it's all meta-humour; a harmless easter egg.

I think the weirdest and yet most accurate thing about this game for me is just... How accurately it builds up the horror aspect of being stalked from the most unassuming of encounters to moments where chalking it up to coincidence just does NOT do the situation justice. Like something in your gut KNOWS that something isn't right but you can't bring yourself to react accordingly due to several factors, the largest of all being that it isn't "obvious or clear" enough. Being stalked isn't like being chased by Michael Meyers or from some monstrous being that you can run through the streets from, screaming at the top of your lungs for help. Nine times out of ten even, Most people, unless they're that close to you and really REALLY paying attention would never know, actually. A lot of times, even the target of the Stalker doesn't know until the latter chooses to make themselves known and by that Point, it's too late...

I keep thinking about this, as someone who's been in creepy situations, in particular the last bit of the route where you go along with it is so uncomfortable. Its usually over the span of months or years, but manipulative people will target emotionally vulnerable victims and groom them before digging their claws into every aspect of their life. They will twist your words to make you seem like you always "overreact". They'll manipulate you into isolating yourself from others, rather than encouraging your friendships.
They become their victims partner and get off on the power they have over them. You have to fight back and sometimes that means you have to be cold, or rude, or loud. Of course they dont want you to fight back. Theyre a parasite feeding off of you.
I think you took the game too seriously, this is an ER*TIC horror game....it's not meant to be a realistic game with healthy relationships, it's meant to be fucked up and sexy at the same time, u know, it's a k*nk that can be safely explored in fiction.

My theory of this is that “boyfriend” mentions being a product tester. And coming from another theory he is aware he’s in a game. But I want to build on this, he is testing the game you are part in. And let’s kinda switch over this “aware” part. He realized you knew you were in a game, that’s why he was so surprised you rejected him in what I assume is a dating sim. Hired to play as a “boyfriend” and him being so surprised you knew his name made him scared, and mentions a “girlfriend” when you do. makes me assume there’s another “tester” playing this game. Who I could assume be equally as crazy, but is currently ignorant of your awareness of being in a game or is acting against the script.

It seems less like he's a manipulator and more like he's aware of the purpose of this game and is being manipulated by it depending on your actions
It's not him being manipulative at this point, but him being aware that he is a character in a game called "Your Boyfriend" with him being just that. So, if you play a game with this name, then why wouldn't you want to meet him? Of course he's confused.
I've been seeing tons of fanart of this game and wondering why people would be attracted to a gray blob guy who stalks you. But, after watching this, I get it now. I was never into characters of the yandere genre until now. :,)
Edit: Saw some comments talking about this, so please note that if you ever meet this kind of person in real life. Run. It's all fun and games in fiction but you could endanger yourself with this kind of person in real life.

This game isn't anything but dramatic irony to a certain extent. We know what's going on but at the same time we have a case of an "unreliable narrator" because it's obvious that Peter/YB has been stalking us for a long, long time.

In all seriousness I know you mean not to even stay with them but as I was saying, if you love somebody do that, if you really love somebody abandoning them isn't an option. It isn't as simple as just leaving. If you live in a small enough town, knowing a waitress (or waiter, I don't think it specifies) then running into them at the park could be pure coincidence. In that scenario though, it seems like the proper thing to do would be to volunteer that information like "Oh, hey, I know you. You work at that diner..."
Could simply be he's an awkward guy that made the connection but wasn't sure how to bring it up.
That scenario requires a lot of charitable assumptions but still within the realm of possibility.
