I came across this video when i am in this situation..dont know exactly what to go for.. Sir, there are very few seats available for DM and DNB ..what value does a fellowship in a particular subject hold if one has to apply for and planning to join as a faculty in BMC/government colleges...

Very beautifully explained sir. I completed my DNB peds 3 yrs back and got a neonatology seat immediately but couldn't pursue due to personal reasons. I in crossroads now whether to apply again as I have a kid of 3. I want to know can we apply for clinical immunology after writing DNB SS in peds.

A question to Dr Sandeep Sharma Sir, Why you have not done DM?
You passed from central institute like PGI and you have interest in academics (you teaching super speciality aspirants), then don't you think you should have done DM?
( Again a personal/subjective and controversial question, but I just asked it out of curiosity )

Hi Dr Dilip! Yes, well of course, there r sm personal reasons which are best discussed on a coffee table. But those apart...any degree/venture/job, we should always ask ourselves.. "Do i really want it and if yes, why do I want it?"
I wanted to be a private practitioner and at the same time, teach. And since a degree of MD was reasonably enough to do those in my circumstances, i opted against doing SS.
Theoretically, I am still eligible to sit in SS exam as reminded by my ex boss and thesis guide and still have a thought occasionally if i should try my hand at DM Ped Endo or Ped Cardio .. I keep reminding myself, "It's wiser to move forward and not question your well-thought decisions."
Hence, I am content sharing what little I know or learn, with fellow junior aspirants! 🙂

Dr Dilip, i think prev 7-8 years,dm in peds was not that much a necessity and popular.peds was thot to be a terminal branch den.but now demand, opportunities, exposure for candidates has gone up manyfolds.n apart from that i think for every individual factors like exposure, opportunities, family responsibilities, financial support, college environment vary.

@@nihakhan1385 Yes agree. It's all about personal choice which may b influenced by so many factors as explained by @Dr Sandeep Sharma Sir.
In fact once you r in the field after finishing your degree , your own perception/priorities may change overtime.
