With radiology it's not always about working in a hospital. They generally have their own ultrasound setup while working in a hospital. Also interventional radiology will only rise in future and it will earn very good amounts

In india the tough journey to medicine is also marred by bad to worst working culture in residency . I wonder what a medical graduate who is still somewhere in his residency fells when they see a tea veder puts a Instagram real and youtube appearance and make lakhs of money , where as the resident is still struggling with harsh working conditions and confusion in life . But I think one in a million tea seller get that money, while most if not all doctors earn a decent living. Especially go and see the interventions that are being done like ,ICD insertion,Bronchoscopy,Thoracoscopy, EBUS,Sleep labs. People say it’s an end branch but I think it hold true for coming 10 yrs. Maybe in future DM would be needed.There are 4 options after MD chest medicine…DM pulmo,cardio,infectious diseases,critical care in Neet SS(These changes according to govt policies).Even if someone doesn’t do a DM and does a fellowship from a good institute it will be more than enough. When people say chest pts will be seen by gen physicians…if that’s the case…in India many many general medicine patients are seen by quacks and MBBS doctors ……so does this deter anyone from taking gen medicine? The answer is no. Every branch has pros n cons. As cons,In govt hospitals there is a huge load of pts and u will deal with a lot of tb patients.Similarly u will get a huge number of other good respi pts. Another con I felt is sometimes u may feel ur limited to one system only. Every branch has its cons…..see the cons of each branched u like to take and see whether u can handle the cons and select that branch in which u can handle the cons…..pros part everyone knows and can handle easily. I will suggest u talk to practising pulmonologist who will give u actual scenario!!!

When people say chest pts will be seen by gen physicians…if that’s the case…in India many many general medicine patients are seen by quacks and MBBS doctors ……so does this deter anyone from taking gen medicine? The answer is no.
Every branch has pros n cons.
As cons,In govt hospitals there is a huge load of pts and u will deal with a lot of tb patients.Similarly u will get a huge number of other good respi pts. Another con I felt is sometimes u may feel ur limited to one system only.
Every branch has its cons…..see the cons of each branched u like to take and see whether u can handle the cons and select that branch in which u can handle the cons…..pros part everyone knows and can handle easily.
I will suggest u talk to practising pulmonologist who will give u actual scenario!!!
