I like the way their voices blend together on the choruses, and of course, Don's guitar playing, and the pedal steel playing are awesome. You don't hear enough of that in today's "country" music.
Buck was never the same after Don Rich dies so tragically and so young. If ever two people were created to work together it was them. An I never get tired of Tom Brumley's fabulous steel playing.
Love Don Rich such a shame how his life ended , so young and such a talented musician and singer, he left behind his lovely wife and two sons. Don Rich will never be forgotten along with Buck Owens.
The title is "My Heart Skips A Beat". Had the pleasure of seeing Buck, Don and the guys in concert back in the day. What a truly professional, polished group. /
I used to go visit their graves in Bakersfield when I lived there. Sad when I moved away. I left a bouquet of flowers on each and said “I’ll be back boys! Keep making that music in heaven. ”
These two had a harmonic balance that few performers ever achieve. I always loved to see Don smile as he sang. Buck smiled, too. Not so much after Don passed. He smiled some with Dwight, but it just wasn't the same.
Don was like a brother to Buck. It broke his heart when Don was killed. He wouldn't even discuss it for years after. I always loved watching them perform. Don was always smiling.
Don Rich taught me how to sing harmony 40 years after he was already dead...THAT is just how AWESOME he was. Chuck Norris ain't got shit on him! RIP, Buckaroo and Godspeed.
I must be missing something, that and/or I live under a rock cause I don't understand that statement about Chuck Norris? What am I missing? What does/did he have to do with singing harmony?
Folks something we should know. Buck recorded all his LP's with Capital Records in LA using the Buckaroos. Poor Nashville couldn't figure out how Buck pulled it off. Well Ken Nielson the producer really knew his stuff. And yes 10 straight No 1 hits.
Saw the legendary Buck Owens often at the Crystal Palace, in Bakersfield, Ca. He was always so gracious, and funny. Proposed to my second wife right on the dance floor, and of course Buck say's to her, are you sure you really want to do that. He was a Hoot!! RIP Buck!..
The real name of this song is My Heart Skips A Beat.Don Rich would have been 78 today-was there ever a better country guitar player/harmony singer? He died 1974 because of a motorcycle accident. From Wikipedia: "On July 17, 1974, Owens' best friend and Buckaroos guitarist Don Rich was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a guard rail on Highway 1 in Morro Bay, where he was to have joined his family for vacation. Owens was devastated. "He was like a brother, a son and a best friend," he said in the late 1990s. "Something I never said before, maybe I couldn't, but I think my music life ended when he died. Oh yeah, I carried on and I existed, but the real joy and love, the real lightning and thunder is gone forever."Owens would never fully recover from the tragedy, neither emotionally nor professionally." The whole Buckaroo's band defined the Bakersfield Sound.
After hearing “Together Again” it inspired me to learn how to play the pedal steel guitar..... Buck🙏🏻Owens &Don🙏🏻Rich the perfect combo that they were May they both RIP 🙏🏻
Please correct me if needed... I understood after Don was killed in the motorcycle accident, Buck's grief was so large, it took much pleading by Dwight to bring Buck back out, to play again. I loved these guys so much, always a smile, mostly a laugh, and always coming away with a tune to sing. I dislike grief and what it does to us. I could miss Don and Buck, but I'd prefer to sing their songs. Merle and Johnny's too.
Even though Don Rich was married ... I loved him ... I loved Buck too but I watched buck shows just to see Don ... my heart sank and was broken when I heard of his death ... Rest In Peace Don .... prayers 🙏to your family
Met Willie Cantu in a Nashville bar one night when he was playing. Nicest guy ever. I was happy to be able tell him how much I enjoyed that music with my father as a kid.
Notice that they are standing a good foot or two away from the microphone. You rarely see that today with artists almost having to swallow the mike to be heard. Genuine no nonsense going on, just pure artistry.
Alvis Edgar Owens Jr., conocido como Buck Owens (Sherman, Texas, 12 de agosto de 1929 - Bakersfield, California, 25 de marzo de 2006), fue un cantante country estadounidense.
Buck and Don. One of the best duos, never the same without Don. Let’s not forget about Tom Brumley being one of the best steel players we’ve ever seen also being in this group!
After Don Rich it was Doyle Curtsinger. I loved him too. He wasn't Don Rich but he did an awesome job with the tenor backup for Buck on Hee Haw. RIP Buck and Don......and possibly Doyle by now? I'd have to Google it.
I just realized that lovely Don's voice, in this song, is louder and more robust than Buck's. That's cool. Love and miss Don. Buck, too. And Don was one of the best looking men ever to wear pink!! Yummy.
I saw Buck in concert long after Don died and he was brilliant. They were both outstanding performers and both at their absolute best when performing together.
I'm ashamed to admit that for decades I only thought of Buck as that guy from Hee Haw without realizing what a career he had enjoyed for so long before that.
I like the way their voices blend together on the choruses, and of course, Don's guitar playing, and the pedal steel playing are awesome. You don't hear enough of that in today's "country" music.
Don Rich, the ultimate sideman. RIP, sir. God bless.
Buck was never the same after Don Rich dies so tragically and so young. If ever two people were created to work together it was them. An I never get tired of Tom Brumley's fabulous steel playing.
The best.
Yes, indeed... The Tele-Master and The Pedal-Master...both Master Class.
Wow....!
@@misskj7773Albert Collins is the Tele Master
Don Rich was a painful loss. He and Buck would have gone on to make so much more great music. 🎸🎼

Amen.
Truly. It seems the Lord has a tendency to call his best angels home early.
Love Don Rich such a shame how his life ended , so young and such a talented musician and singer, he left behind his lovely wife and two sons. Don Rich will never be forgotten along with Buck Owens.
The Buckaroos were every bit as good as any outfit in Nashville.
Definitely

I used to go visit their graves in Bakersfield when I lived there. Sad when I moved away. I left a bouquet of flowers on each and said “I’ll be back boys! Keep making that music in heaven. ”
Don was the best…a phenomenal talent..No one ever topped him.
RIP the multi talented ever smiling Don Rich..so sadly missed
We need Don Rich and Thom Brumley, country music needs them so much.
I believe Don Rich was the star
I do too. Buck was great, but oh, Dangerous Don, what a legend. Outta this world talented.
I love that bakersville sound
Nashville West.
Now THAT'S country!
Yeah Buddy 🤠
They've all gone now. How sad. So tragic Don left us way too soon. May they all rest in peace. 😂❤🙏
Don Rich you're always on my mind the way you harmonized oh..... smiling while singing just wow
Folks something we should know. Buck recorded all his LP's with Capital Records in LA using the Buckaroos. Poor Nashville couldn't figure out how Buck pulled it off. Well Ken Nielson the producer really knew his stuff. And yes 10 straight No 1 hits.
I wonder what it would sound like if we were able to record the trio of Buck Owens, Don Rich, and Dwight Yoakam.
Even though I don't sing well my wife gets a kick out of me singing along. There are 19 people who don't like this? Really?
Saw the legendary Buck Owens often at the Crystal Palace, in Bakersfield, Ca. He was always so gracious, and funny. Proposed to my second wife right on the dance floor, and of course Buck say's to her, are you sure you really want to do that. He was a Hoot!! RIP Buck!..

How about those beautiful suits, back when country stars didn’t look like bums!
Don Rich...AMAZING talent.
that's western music ! very close to rockabilly , just love Buck Owens and Don Rich RIP .

So young to die
Paul Rieker That is true.
Well said
Love to hear Don play, RIP buddy......
Even though Don Rich was married ... I loved him ... I loved Buck too but I watched buck shows just to see Don ... my heart sank and was broken when I heard of his death ... Rest In Peace Don .... prayers 🙏to your family
Don's death killed poor Buck. He was never the same. He never played or acted the same as before.
Met Willie Cantu in a Nashville bar one night when he was playing. Nicest guy ever. I was happy to be able tell him how much I enjoyed that music with my father as a kid.
Love the power in Don’s guitar. Such a signature sound.
Fender Sparkle Telecaster in the rights is pure magic.
Notice that they are standing a good foot or two away from the microphone. You rarely see that today with artists almost having to swallow the mike to be heard.
Genuine no nonsense going on, just pure artistry.
Buck Owens is one of a kind won't be another one like him
I would love to have been there when the band first saw those pink suits.
Just discovering this and...it's so awesome!
Were you related to John Olstead? He was from the Chugwater, Wyoming area.
can they get any more accurate?? good grief the talent!
Don could sure play that telecaster. Wished he had an autobiography out.
I know right!! if he did it would most likely be called “Guitar Pickin’ Man The Don Rich Autobiography”
It is actually "skips A beat....
They must have had better microphones in those days. They share one and stand way back from it. These days the singer swallows the mic.
That "Buckaroo" line has always reminded me of semi truck-- politely honking at you from behind to get outta the way!
Beautiful song by them both.
not 'to' beat' ... it is 'a beat' as in " skips a beat " see?
Damn that Don Rich!!
The video quality is great on this version. Thanks for posting this one....
Alvis Edgar Owens Jr., conocido como Buck Owens (Sherman, Texas, 12 de agosto de 1929 - Bakersfield, California, 25 de marzo de 2006), fue un cantante country estadounidense.
This song is on a list of songs that Dwight Yoakam is planning to re-record.
That’s what I heard!
ah yes .. don and the gold tele .. made me wanna pick up a telecaster. don rich.. the stevie ray Vaughan of the tele.
Sharp dressed men with snazzy instruments and great talent! Love it
Buck and Don. One of the best duos, never the same without Don. Let’s not forget about Tom Brumley being one of the best steel players we’ve ever seen also being in this group!

And Don was one of the best looking men ever to wear pink!! Yummy.

Lov n prays from Tinsukia,Assam
if you have never read Buck's autobiography, stop what you're doing and order it. Titled "Buck'em" it is well worth the money and is extraordinary.
Think they are great
Tuned down bucks sound

Buck would have been 95 today-that's Don Rich on the Tele and harmony vocals.
that solo was MEAN
I have just finish my elementary when i heard this song and became my.1 of my favorits❤😢
People don't like this kind of music? How sad for them. Que lastima.
Buck needed Don Rich
I saw Buck in concert long after Don died and he was brilliant. They were both outstanding performers and both at their absolute best when performing together.
" Skips A beat.. " ... listen for the short Buckaroo phrase from Don at 0:38
Oh, i just fell in love!
The number of acts that are currently on a par with these guys............zero.
My heart skips "A" beat (not to)
Ok, tell the truth, how many of you watching this found yourself smiling?
Can't miss Don's goofy grin. He's having a ball. Who can say that now?
Love Buck and Don and those Buckaroos!!
It's not easy to wear pink and sparkles like that! Don pulls it off though, no questions asked 😀
Don Rich - the perfect sideman. Damn shame he's gone.
I'm ashamed to admit that for decades I only thought of Buck as that guy from Hee Haw without realizing what a career he had enjoyed for so long before that.
This music made all producers in Nashville real nervous at the time.
2 great singers gone to soon R I P
My heart skips a beat, not skips to beat. Someone's not paying attention to the lyrics.
You know that the Beatles always ordered Buck's latest records?
Eternal music.
Not sure yet how ' to ' became part of the title. Just listen to the lyrics and you'll see.
You make my heart skip a beat....💋❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great duo an awesome buckaroos they are missed
Make no mistake about it Don was the most talented person on that stage.

Question (anyone) -- Are there Buck Owens tribute bands that play in Bakersfield to this day? If so, that's a bucket list item.
The two was a dream team baby
