Have you noticed all the years that have passed since Miami Vice was aired, and still today people come back to watch clips. No show will ever come close to what we had in the 80s.
It was pure awesome -- the cinematography, the colour grading, the acting, the actors -- I loved all of it. The cars, the action, the babes -- everything was absolutely on point. And oh man, the Jan Hammer's music!
In the 80's & 90's, we were spoiled by NBC alone. The shows on just that channel (A Different World, Family Ties, Miami Vice, Friends, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Cheers, etc.) Man we grew up on some iconic shows on just that channel alone. Heck yes. 80's/90's forever.
The way Sonny stood up for Trudi in the IA meeting was noble - but it was the act of a true friend the way he forcefully shut her down when she started second guessing herself.
Yep. Even though it was a television show, Trudy's shooting was justified. Any hesitation would have gotten them killed. That's of course by TV standards.
the whole culture of second guessing cops for the decisions they had to make in seconds while sitting comfortably in our chairs pondering for hours and days something we will never do in real life is still going strong today
Just started vice myself a couple months ago when I got hurt and I couldn’t find anything on tv worth watching. Was on Amazon video on day saw the first episode and the rest is history. Currently on season 3 and it is universally already one of my favorite shows in general
Loved this scene. Sonny had taken enough heat for doing his job but would be damned if he let his friend Trudy get it too. Wish there had been more of this.
I loved Miami Vice in the 80's. There was no better series on TV. Tubbs & Crockett were good cops, they were cool cops & boy did they fill the screen with their charisma's. The supporting cast were also what made the programme so thrilling to watch. Lovely scenery,Lovely girls & lots & lots of action.
YES IT IS YOU GOT THE RIGHT ANSWER SO I THINK THAT THIS TV SERIE IS THE BETTER WAY TO HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT THEY ARE DOING IN EVERY CHAPTER AND I SAY THAT THIS TV SERIE INSPIRES ME TO WRITE A BOOK SO I LOVE IT TOO
Oh my god, seriously, anyone working for IAB needs their head examined....Its a good thing this team has each others back....way to go Sonny, you're not going to let them crucify Trudy without drilling into them how it was a good shoot or you'd be dead...Another awesome episode, Miami Vice Forever!
Always love the little bits of regular interaction thrown in these early episodes. Crockett playing gin, his competitive nature adding layers to his character.
"Miami Vice," the iconic television series that aired from 1984 to 1990, has garnered a lasting appeal for several reasons: 1. **Stylish Aesthetics**: The show was renowned for its unique visual style, characterized by vibrant colors, sleek cars, and a Miami backdrop that captured the essence of 1980s glamour. The use of pastels and stylish wardrobe choices resonated with viewers and became a defining feature of the series. 2. **Cultural Impact**: The show played a significant role in shaping pop culture during the 1980s. It introduced a new level of sophistication in television, blending elements of crime drama with fashion and music, which influenced many subsequent shows. 3. **Memorable Soundtrack**: "Miami Vice" featured a memorable soundtrack that included popular music from various genres. The incorporation of contemporary hits helped set the mood for episodes and contributed to the show's overall appeal, making it a trendsetter in the use of music in television. 4. **Complex Characters**: The lead characters, Detectives Sonny Crockett (played by Don Johnson) and Ricardo Tubbs (played by Philip Michael Thomas), were complex and well-developed. Their struggles, relationships, and personal lives added depth to the narrative, allowing viewers to connect with them beyond their roles as detectives. 5. **Gripping Storylines**: The series tackled various themes, including crime, morality, and the challenges of law enforcement in a vibrant but dangerous environment. The storytelling often blended action with introspection, offering viewers both excitement and emotional engagement. 6. **Cinematic Quality**: "Miami Vice" was notable for its cinematic approach to television, employing advanced filming techniques, narrative structures, and artistic direction that set it apart from other shows of its time. 7. **Nostalgia**: For those who grew up during the 1980s and 1990s, "Miami Vice" evokes a sense of nostalgia. Its cultural references, music, and fashion can transport viewers back to that era. 8. **Legacy and Reboots**: The show's lasting impact can be seen in its continued references in popular culture, as well as the development of film adaptations and reboots, which keep the essence of the original while introducing it to new audiences. These elements combined to create a show that was not only entertaining but also culturally significant, fostering a devoted fan base that appreciates its influence on both television and popular culture.
Just got the chance to binge watch Miami vice. Loved each and every episode. Amazing writers amazing cast amazing show. The good old days when people took the time to think and write and when actors put their soul into the part that they were playing. The originals are always the best. Miami vice was a great show. 😊😊😊😊
My book, he still the Man. Like Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, Willis, James Garner, Bogart....never be others of this magnitude, unforgettable characters. BR, maybe not a great actor but his charisma, charm, near unmatched.
One thing's for sure, Sonny would always have your back. He had no time for feckless bureaucrats sitting behind a comfy desk in their air-conditioned offices while he and his squad were constantly risking their lives. This scenario is even more relavant nowadays if you ask me.
@@killersalmon4359 No, by walking out he ended the inquisition because they needed both cops who were present on the scene of the shooting to continue it.

It's supposed to be a serious moment but I can't help but laugh at Don/Crockett having to censor himself using words that you know he wouldn't have said if this weren't network TV lol.
Michael Mann needs to do a reunion movie or a video game, set in 1985, and have the original actors voice their characters. Provide a list of 80s music and you’d have something great.
Now that would be a money making machine. Especially as a computer game. All the real voices and the same music. Every episode on Miami Vice turned into a part of the game. Great idea.
Michael Mann, got everything down to a T, the old guy playing cards with Sonny, wearing a Piaget watch , absolute 80's perfection, and Richie Aprile playing an Internal affairs cop😮😮😮
Just a note on the fact Miami Vice was shot in Technicolor - the colours are rich and vibrant. Just been watching my second favourite show of the 80s Magnum Pi and the Technicolor in that is sumptuous. The A Team was in Technicolor but processed by CFI and was a notch below those two.
I miss being able to smoke indoors. I used to love the smell of public buildings as a kid cause of the smell of cigarettes. then a bunch of big babies made a fuss and now we cant do cool stuff anymore.
The only thing that would have made this show better would be if they allowed the actors to use curse words. Sonny could have laid some SERIOUS talk on those guys if he had the freedom of speech to do so.
Yeah show was missing uncut but as someone born in 90s it's a masterpiece without cussing that to Me is talent to hold back the f bombs and other profanity

No one could’ve played this role the way Don Johnson did. He had the right amount of charm, charisma and intensity.
I was a 100% fan of Miami Vice and as for your comment...when the movie came out l passed ! ! ! ! A MV movie ? Johnson and Thomas only ! ! !
Josh Holloway would've been my pick as Crockett in a remake.
