They all hang on a new game and cant be released without it. I stopped being critical of gamefreaks games simply because they can never change until they let third party studios develop their games for them while they stick to what they're good at. Character design. They make great characters and concepts. So they should just focus on that side of development while more "competent" studios (people not chained to such oppressive schedules) handle the more concrete side of development. Develop the concept and story script early, as they focus on creating the pokemon. Then let a third party/second party development team work on the game. But they'll never do that...

Besides you already get the very diverse starter options between charizard, charizard and charizard. You can't possibly ask for more! Anyways, putting all the questions aside, the starting price of this game is $1000. Since you guys so desperately wanted animations we actually made them in a DLC. It costs $5000 dollars. We also added sounds we definitely did not take from a dragon toy for that Charizard. The sounds DLC costs $10000 Did I mention that if you buy one of the earlier games, Pokémon Forest and Rain, which cost $1000 each, you get an unfair boost of getting more than one Pokémon!

Sounds? What are the need for that if everyone is mute! Including the Pokémon!
Evolution? THAT TAKES MILLIONS OF YEARS TO DO! DO YOU THINK WE CAN MAKE SOMETHING AS UNREALISTIC AS THAT? AT GAME FREAK, WE BELIEVE THAT ALL OUR GAMES SHOULD BE AS REALISTIC AS POSSIBLE!
The sounds DLC costs $10000
Did I mention that if you buy one of the earlier games, Pokémon Forest and Rain, which cost $1000 each, you get an unfair boost of getting more than one Pokémon! Just connect the two games with pokelink, which can store Pokémon and transfer them to another account! It only costs $1000 per Pokémon transferred! No, it isn't embarrassing, it's a kids game and needs to be treated as such. this is a kids game, from a kids franchise made by a company that makes games for kids, and you guys are acting as if it was made by CD project red or something. How difficult is that to understand?

are those all bad games because they’re “kids” games?
are games like TES, COD, and The Witcher better because they’re “big boy” games?
it doesn’t matter what your target audience is, your game can still be a bad, disappointing, lazy mess, and criticized to hell and back. because criticism is how things you love get better. the “they’re made for kids” argument is a jab at my 10 year old self who would’ve enjoyed black and white much more than this garbage.
@@aayers485 Minecraft is a decade old and was designed for more powerful hardware, ocarina of Time is two decades old, Platinum is a decade old, and black and white are almost a decade old, and thus obsolete and irrelevant. you aren't even the specific target audience of pokemon, so why bother giving it criticism that it doesn't deserve because it's for a child? what next? Are you going to tell me that because the switch exists everything has to be at the highest form of graphical fidelity? Because surprise surprise, Pokemon was never graphically focused, which is why we didn't get 3D until 2013...

@@soapbonar essentially. It's not like they're going to be able to tell the difference. But again, this is Nintendo. Why can't we accept kids games for what they are?
GameFreak literally has no excuse, given that games such as CupHead exists.
Yeh it’s safe to assume they pretty much rushed the game out like a year or 2 early seeing as the game is basically an unfinished mess still in beta
@@TheEvilWithinFan ... They have patches! It's 2020, they can fix this shit literally whenever they want, we live in a world where updating games is the easiest it's ever been. No, there is no excuse
Cuphead is beautiful but I’ll be the first to say that it‘s an exception and not really comparable to any modern games at the moment. However, GF needs to step it up BIG time. I’m not looking for Cuphead level animation but just give me the bare minimum - no cuts to black and awkwardly written onomatopoeia.
The best comparisons to the graphical aesthetics that Pokemon are going for are games like BOTW, Genshin Impact and Xenoblade 2 which are all vastly superior in every way.
Fun Fact: Cuphead was meant to come out much earlier than it was supposed to be

You're right. They just cut to black instead.
Gamefreak would not even do voice acting
@@thienphucn1 Not all games need voice acting. Also, it would likely cause awkwardness for the anime whenever a character has multiple voice actors between mediums.
Besides, voice acting for a game with as much dialogue as pokémon, including context sensitive dialogue, would take a lot of time and storage, which Game Freak clearly aren't going to dedicate any time to. If they gave us voice acting, it would be half assed, and only be present in main plot progressing scenes.
Yea but piers singing scene without voice acting is really awkward
Also gen 5 has a bit of voice acting in Roxie and Elesa's gym theme so it is possible for gamefreak to add voice
@@liamdeezn I mean, that's one of the few cases where it makes sense to have voice acting, but it isn't absolutely necessary in other circumstances.

Ok then why not try. 1Gamefreak makes very high quality animations when it comes to cutscenes like the one at the Legendary birds tree. Also games like the FF remake have way more time to be created compared to Pokemon games.
They were able to get away with not doing animations in the 2d games so they think they can get away with the same shit in a 3d game. Nope, maybe they could learn something from Genius Sonority who knows how to make a 3d pokemon game

A year later, I still cant get over how shitty this game looks. A billion dollar company made this? Looks more like an indie game to me.
Even indie games can do a better job at that.
What even sad that Kirby Star Allies have better graphics than this game
It’s somehow impossible to use those millions of dollars to add all Pokémon in.
Not just a billion dollar company, but THE MOST VALUABLE FRANCHISE OF ALL TIME. They're here saving a couple thousand bucks, the equivalent to grains of sand in a desert, instead of making something truly special like Zelda and Xenoblade did.
Even an indie game has more care.

Hop couldn't see what happened in the black screen either so he's checking if MC is lying about what happened during it
The 3 legendary birds reveal cutscene was pretty good tho
tru, it had lots of soul
That and the starter Pokemon intro sequence are the only 2 good animations in the entire game
That’s where all the budget went
@@DistantKingdom While Calyrex and Possesed Peony dancing to grow the carrots was kinda dumb, it was definitely a good animation. Shame that most other animations are lackluster at best and nonexistent at worst.
Yeah. Makes you wonder why they couldn't do that more often. I mean, seriously, These fade to black screens in place of animation, there's no excuse for these anymore. 😒
I NEED a 10 hours version of the Calyrex dance
You know, it's funny, because the caves being so damn ugly could easily be fixed by them... I don't know, making them dark?! Instead you get these gross textures with a weird, washed out, lighting that makes everything look gross.
Also, I was actually recently thinking about how bad some actually good games would look if you animated them like modern Pokemon does.
Like, imagine a modern 3D Final Fantasy game that has battle animations like Pokemon:
Monk does a flying kick! (animation is a generic punch)
Monk does a spin kick! (it's just their idle animation spinning around, they aren't even in a fighting pose)
Monk does *insert signature attack*! (is the ONE move that looks good)
Monk throws a punch! (animation is the generic punch)
Monk throws a flurry of punches! (the model just hops up and down rapidly during their idle animation)
I agree with everything you said, but the cave point, I mean, caves are supposed to look rough and jagged, so I don’t really care
Gamefreak: "We just got rid of half the nat-deck to focus more on animations"
Everyone: "the animations look garbage..."
